You can better insure your relationship. You know it's true love this way. Love isn't supposed to be quick and easy. It's supposed to be a slow timely process.

Ed and Bella liked each other so they dated. They fell in love later. bella said she was in love, but she was wrong.

I don't see anything bad in falling in love quick.
My mom married my father after 3 months of dating and in august this year they will celebrate 19 years of marriage , so falling in love quick can work.

@Drisina: I think it's lust because Bella talks about Edward's outer appearances mainly. What else do we know about him? Did he have any career goals before he turned into a vampire? What movies does he like? Who makes him laugh? Etc. etc. Congratulations to your parents by the way.

I wouldn't have minded Edward and Bella (except for Edward's extremely over-protective behavior) if their relationship had been developed better. I actually think the idea of being first physically attracted to someone and then falling quickly in love is okay, less realistic, maybe, but cute. (Titanic, anyone?) I mean, as long as the love is actually there. But the way Edward and Bella portrayed it... I just did not like it.

But being friends first and having the love grow naturally trumps the other idea, in my mind.

It just depends my parents got married after 3 months and they are still married (19 years past..almost).
I just want falling in love quicker.

In real life, love can work in many different ways. I personally don't believe love happens at first sight but, as with Drisina's mum and dad, it can work.

However, if we apply these examples to Twilight and HP, well, Edward and Bella's relationship just isn't realisitc in my opinion.

But that's just me. I know plenty of people who fell in love at first sight and have been together for longer than I've been alive (my parents, for example).

I have a trust thing. I can't love without trust. I can't trust someone (at least, not enough to allow myself to open up that way) that I haven't known for a very long time.

Hermione and Ron are cute. Because they were friends first, their relationship actually developed (and we got to see it) - they went from being friends but a kind of cat-and-mouse relationship where they did each others head in although they still loved each other as friends, to something more than that.
They're opposites, they cancel each other out. Ron is loud, brash and funny, but tends to keep his feelings to himself, whereas Hermione is studious, hard-working and quiet, but is ready to stick up for herself. They fit well together (I also think it's really sweet that Hermione's Patronus is an otter - which are noted for being intelligent and playful - and Ron's is a Jack Russell terrier, which are noted for being mischevious, affectionate, and CHASING OTTERS IN SHALLOW WATER.)
Edward and Bella are strange. I don't like their relationship because I don't think they base it on anything other than looks.

Having them being your friend, can ruin some special things...

"Only desperate people want lust." That's not true. I wouldn't mind a root here and there, with no strings attachted. Some people are just people you share lust with, and not the love type for you.

Edward and Bella's falling in love process is too fairytale-ish and extremely unrealistic since most people don't fall in love two weeks after they meet.

I don't mind love at first sight, it happens, but Bella and Edwart's relationship was revolving around their looks, and it was lust.

I am answering which kind of romance i like first and the options stated are 'Being friends first and then having your love grow naturally and imperfectly' and 'Love (lust) at first sight and falling for them after a short amount of time' there's nothing to say at being friends 'just like Ron/Hermione' or at love at first sight 'just like Edward/Bella' i just picked which one i would like better but not to be the same as Edward/Bella.

Simple because love at first sight is not real. It's called infatuation people. And I loathe Ron and Hermione's relationship. I think their relationship was also very unhealthy. I don't know, I never liked Ron though, since reading the first book back in 5th grade (1997).
I agree with KatiiCullen that being friends first could become a disaster.
You meet someone, talk to them a bit, go out on a couple non-dates to get to know them a bit better before starting to date; and with time you could, possibly, grow to love that person.

At my school we're taught infection is unhealthy. And it does not need to be a part of love in fact most healty relationships probably start without infaction.

Of course an infection is unhealthy. that's what medications are for.

I'm not trying to sound rude, but infatuation is different than lust. If you lust for something you have a "strong sexual desire" (again dictionary) for someone. Lust is good for a relationship. But love at first sight is not real.
Infatuation at first sight is what Bella felt towards Edward, and what is often mistaken for love at first sight. I'm not saying that it didn't gravitate towards love (remember I am a fan of the first book) nor that it can't in real life, but it was definitely unhealthy, I mean their relationship. Bella was also infatuated with Jacob which caused a whole 'nother set of problems.

To me love is based on friendship, respect and trust, if you immediately fall in love with someone how do you know that you will get this? Do you put that you dont have things in common, that one or both are jealous and possessive to one side? Do you ignore that he has no manners and disrespects you, ignore that he eats with his mouth open and belches and farts loudly? Just because you 'love' him? At least if your friends first you know you will get along further down the line and that you are compatible.

Edward and Bella's love was a little... weird... I mean she saw him he saw her he wanted to eat her she wanted to kiss him... And then he said he's a vampire and then without saying anything the go to "I don't wanna lose you..." like WTF??

Ron and Hermione is just a little bit more realistic, I just cant see how Bella fell unconditionally and irrevocably in love a guy she had known for a couple of weeks.

I just don't believe in the whole "love at first sight" thing. Slow, growing relationships-one with realistic bumps in the road-is realistic and great, like Ron and Hermione's.

definitly I think being friends first and then starting to fall in love slowly it's more natural, not forced and just so romantic. And saying the other person afther only days of knowing him or her that you love him ore her, I find it lame and doesn't looks like real love for me.
