Author's note: Don't get your hopes up, people. I hardly ever carry on with my fanfictions, after starting them. I know, I know... it's despicable... Oh well. XD. Also, the space squid dialogue has been translated (roughly) from squidese, یا whatever, to English. Also, this is written from the space squid's point of view. Oh! And it's set quite a few years into the future. Also, it might be a BIT of a spoiler, if آپ haven't seen The Trouble with Jiggles, not to mention confusing. Wow... long note. XD
It was a few years back, when I asked my father where the gubes came from. He told me the story...
'It was very sudden. A contraption came to our planet from the other planet. It opened of it's own accord and all the gubes came out. There were so many of them, they couldn't be counted. We couldn't think of anything to do with so many of them... They didn't appear to have a use. But we'd seen creatures on the other planet claim smaller creatures and take care of them. So that's what we did, too. Now, they're so popular, there are very few families without one... یا مزید than one.'
It took a lot of convincing for me to believe the story was true. I couldn't quite get my head round the fact that my gube, blah-bloog-bloog, had come from the other planet. It suited this planet so much. I wasn't looking آگے to going to the other planet, when I was older... I'd heard the tales... The metal creature our kind had to lock in the prison... and it wasn't just the tales that put me off going there. It was the fact I had to try and invade it, یا steal things from it. I was terrible at doing both of those things... my parents told me I'd learn, but I doubted that was true. I didn't know why we had to invade and/or steal useful items from that planet. If I didn't have to obey the law, I'd just want to explore (carefully, of course) and study the alien creatures and have fun. But, of course, if I broke the law, I'd have been banished... sent through the nearest black hole... to the Barren Lands. Creatures from the other planet would disintegrate, if they were to go through a black hole, but not us space-squids. We were not so lucky. We had to face the world on the other side. The Barren Lands.
A few years later...
I was finally old enough to go to the other planet. I would, of course, be supervised سے طرف کی my parents, because it was my first visit. The idea of going there still hadn't grown on me. I had barely improved my skills at stealth, thieving and sending ripe-for-invasion messages back to our planet. I was really worried about being seen سے طرف کی the elongated creatures, who, I was told, were the most dangerous things in the universe. And the universe is one big place. My mother reassured me, slightly, سے طرف کی telling me that there had been many many space squids in the past who had had my lack of skills - some were even worse than me - and they had all succeeded in not being seen سے طرف کی the elongated creatures. Some had even succeeded in stealing a thing, یا two.
