What is "nosebleed?"

It not talking about when آپ injure your nose یا get punched in the nose. I see this in Anime,and it happens when someone see's something either attracting,disgusting, یا whatever than nosebleeds. Why would this action occur? Like this picture for example.

It happens in عملی حکمت when a character sees something he/she finds sexy. It's done for humor--though I don't really think it's that funny.
