spin-off? Don’t hold your breath. At Saturday’s PaleyFest panel for the show, the CBS show’s producers said they aren’t planning one. According to

they’re too busy working on the main attraction, now in its sixth season.

While CBS hasn’t shied away from spin-offs in the past (

producers don’t think their show has the kind of “broad, mainstream appeal” that lends itself to a spin-off—though they did admit it would be fun to dream up a series for frequent guest stars Gary Cole and Carrie Preston, whose characters Kurt McVeigh and Elsbeth Tascioni are fan favorites.

Speaking of guest stars: Ed Asner, Oliver Platt, and Ron Rifkin will be appearing in upcoming episodes, and Michael J. Fox returns on Sunday night along with Josh Charles’ Will Gardner. Well, kind of. Charles himself won’t appear in the dream sequence, but his character will.

co-creator Robert King says they needn’t worry about Archie Panjabi’s character suffering a similar fate when the actress leaves later this season. “[Kalinda] can’t go out Will Gardner-style because you guys know that she’s leaving,” King told 

“Will Gardner-style was that no one knew … Since everybody expects it, it’s a whole different beast.”
