Like all great shows, Angel was inevitably link. Even though Joss and the writers wanted a sixth season (they definitely had the ideas for it, as Angel: After the Fall clearly illustrates-- no pun intended) the networks just didn't see it in the cards. Though Angel proved that it could definitely stand on its own two feet after Buffy ended, this decision was made before the سیکنڈ half of Angel Season Five actually aired. My guess is, the WB didn't believe that Angel would work as well without Buffy (oh ye of little faith!) and told Joss at the beginning so he could لپیٹ, لفاف کریں up the series and make the final season a smash success. At least that was thoughtful of them to do that, so the Angel cast and crew could "make arrangements" so to speak for the end of the show. And it allowed Joss to try some crazy ideas (like Fred to Illyria) so it wasn't all THAT bad.

آپ need to cite your sources, unless آپ are currently sitting اگلے to Mr Whedon and Co.

Why would آپ think it had ANYTHING to do with BtVs, a دکھائیں not even on the same network?? Angel was a completely autonomous show, no mention of Buffy at all after the brief talk of her death and the not-so deadness. It is not useful to guess and call it fact. Angel was a WB دکھائیں and the last 2 seasons of Buffy aired on the UPN.

Head writer David Fury "guarantees" that if Joss Whedon hadn't requested an early renewal, Angel would've been back for a Season 6:

The only reason that Angel didn't come back...it's a very simple thing. Because our ratings were up, because of our critical attention, Joss specifically asked Jordan Levin, who was the head of The WB at the time, to give us an early pick-up because every سال they [would] wait so long to give Angel a pick-up [and] a lot of us [would] turn down jobs hoping that Angel will continue– he [Joss] didn't want that to happen. So, he was feeling very confident and he [Joss] just asked Jordan, "Like, make your decision now whether you're going to pick us up یا not," and Jordan, sort of with his hands tied, with his back up against the wall, called him the اگلے دن and said, "Okay, we're canceling you." Jordan's no longer there and The WB has since recognized...I believe Garth Ancier at The WB کہا that it was a big mistake to منسوخ Angel. There was a power play that happened that just didn't fall out the way they wanted it to. We wanted to get an early pick-up, we didn't. In fact we forced them [the WB] to make a decision, and with his hand forced he [Levin] made the decision to منسوخ us. I guarantee that, if we waited as we normally did, سے طرف کی the time May had come around they would have picked up Angel. I can guarantee that

though i found this on wiki so it might not be the most reliable ذریعہ :(

Fury was not head writer at AttS ever. He wrote some eps in the first 3 seasons, and just look at the credits, became (he was working on BtVS at the same time) consulting, then co-exec and finally full executive producer on Angel.

I don't consider the کتابیں cannon. It is not the show, sort of alt-universe continuation. It was still canceled as a TV دکھائیں & ended after 5 seasons. Good cover there, I always liked Smile Time, I know a lot of folks didn't :)

Oh for f^&* sake, "Cinders" got here first. Is there even any point?
She یا he probably went on for a week so here is the short answer: It was cancelled. They did have time to do an end show, but it was not envisioned as a 5-season show. Sometimes if آپ Google a سوال like this یا go to imdb dot com آپ can read interesting things straight from the horse - یا horses' - mouths.
