When Batman شائقین discuss their پسندیدہ Batman films, Tim برٹن and Christopher Nolan's films are brought up. However, it's rare to see that level of admiration for the two Batman films directed سے طرف کی Joel Schumacher. For a long time, I've considered both of his films to be underrated.

The Backstory and Reception of Batman Forever:

Joel Schumacher's first Batman film was Batman Forever. The film came out in 1995. It was only three years after Tim Burton's سیکنڈ Batman film, Batman Returns. Tim برٹن wanted to direct a 3rd Batman film, but due to the controversy surrounding Batman Returns' adult content, Joel Schumacher became the new director. Tim برٹن was a producer on Batman Forever, but most people can hardly tell when watching the film because it's so different from the films he directed. Some people from the برٹن films returned for the Schumacher films. Michael Gough, who played Alfred, and Pat Hingle, who played Commissioner Gordon, are in both of the برٹن films and both of the Schumacher films.

Joel Schumacher was a huge Batman fan. He was actually a bigger پرستار of Batman than anybody who had directed a Batman film before. He was thrilled to get the chance to direct a film about his پسندیدہ comic book hero. Warner Bros. wanted to make sure that the Batman franchise would be family-friendly, so they could make lots of money with action figures and various other types of merchandise. Because of this, Joel Schumacher had to make Batman Forever مزید family-friendly than Batman Returns.

Batman Forever ended up being the most family-friendly Batman film since 1966's Batman: The Movie. Unlike the Tim برٹن films, Batman was no longer a dark anti-hero who worked alone. This time around, Batman was accompanied سے طرف کی Robin. The villains, Two-Face and Riddler, were مزید campy and less vile than the برٹن rogues. While Batman Forever was supposed to be somewhat of a serious action film, it has a lot of comedy. For example, Batman's first scene in the film involves him making a joke about getting fast food.

Batman Forever wasn't very well received سے طرف کی critics. Roger Ebert thought that Forever was مزید fun than the برٹن films, but most critics thought that the colorful campiness ruined the film. Also, Val Kilmer, who played Batman in Forever, was unfavorably compared to Michael Keaton. At the time, Keaton's Batman was a worldwide hit, so audiences had a hard time accepting Kilmer as Batman. Batman co-creator Bob Kane actually called Kilmer the best Batman, but most people didn't feel the same way. Despite not getting good reviews, Forever made a ton of money at the box office. Plus, the film had a strong fanbase thanks to people who loved Jim Carrey as the Riddler.

The Backstory and Reception of Batman and Robin:

At the time, Batman Forever was the سیکنڈ highest-grossing Batman film, only beaten سے طرف کی Tim Burton's first Batman film. Because of this, Warner Bros. had Joel Schumacher direct another Batman film. Val Kilmer was replaced سے طرف کی George Clooney, but Chris O'Donnell returned as Robin.

Joel Schumacher's سیکنڈ Batman film was called Batman and Robin. It was released in 1997. Warner Bros. thought that Forever's success came from the family-friendly tone and the money they got from toys. Because of this, Joel Schumacher had to make his 2nd Batman film even campier than the 1st. Also, the film had to have tons of new costumes and gadgets, so they could make as much money from merchandise as possible. This time around, Batman had two crime-fighting partners, Robin and Batgirl, who had to help the dark knight fight off Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy and Bane.

Warner Bros. was expecting Batman and Robin to be a huge hit. They were going to let Schumacher direct a 3rd film. However, things didn't go as planned. Batman and Robin made less money than Forever. However, the biggest problem was how the film was received. Both critics and شائقین hated the film. It was considered to be the worst Batman film with the worst plot, acting, etc. Decades later, it's still often considered to be the worst Batman film ever made. It also led to Joel Schumacher being made fun of سے طرف کی Batman شائقین for years. They acted like his film was a bigger crime than anything the Joker had ever done.

My Thoughts on the Films:

First off, it should be addressed that Joel Schumacher doesn't deserve the hate he got. If آپ don't like Batman and Robin, the blame should go to Warner Bros. and the toy companies. They were the ones who pressured Joel Schumacher to make a lot of the decisions that شائقین didn't like. Joel Schumacher was an incredibly nice and easygoing person who wanted to make both the studios and شائقین happy. He even apologized to those who didn't like Batman and Robin. He has made it clear that he wanted to make a Batman film that was enjoyable for all ages. Regardless of whether یا not آپ feel he succeeded, his intentions were admirable. He's arguably the kindest director the Batman franchise has ever had, yet he was also the director who received the most hate and backlash.

I personally really enjoy both of Joel Schumacher's Batman films. Although I missed the beautiful and creative style of Tim Burton's films, I find both Forever and Batman and Robin to be really entertaining Summer blockbusters. A lot of people think Joel Schumacher ruined the Batman series, until Christopher Nolan saved it. While there's a number of things about the Nolan films I like, I think there's a certain sense of fun that his trilogy was lacking.

I think the Batman franchise works well when it's family-friendly. That doesn't mean it has to be a G-rated series where's no action of any kind. However, حالیہ Batman comics, فلمیں and other forms of media have gotten insanely dark. People seem to think that Batman has to be dark. However, it's important to remember that even though Batman isn't as wholesome as Superman, he's still a hero with a strong دل and good sense of morality. Joel Schumacher's films embrace the lighthearted and heroic aspects of Batman which makes them work as feel-good films. As for the villains, I love over-the-top villains and Schumacher delivered some pretty memorable ones. Two-Face, Riddler, Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy are all very entertaining villains. I don't want to see creepy, murderous sickos with dark backstories. I want villains that are goofy scene-stealers. Thankfully, these films have the sort of villains that I deeply enjoy.

Overall, I don't think Joel Schumacher's Batman films deserve to be treated as the low point in Batman's cinematic career. I think both films are very entertaining, upbeat adventures that have Joel Schumacher's unique sense of directing. Joel Schumacher was a progressive director for his time. He was gay which was something he didn't hide. He tried to make a Batman an attractive big-screen hero. Regardless of how people reacted, I'm proud of Schumacher's bravery and pride. He didn't let the hate bother him. A lot can be learned from him. He was a director that deserved better and hopefully, future generations will look upon his work and contributions with admiration.

ارے everybody. Welcome to the Roast of Stan Lee. I'm your host Will Eisner. ارے isn't it funny how our heroes are all studs with a simple mask and cape, not crazy hardware and tentacles and big boobs? And don't آپ love how many girlfriends our hero gets? One after the other after the other. Our Mary Jane puts up with it. The secretary? She helps out the Spirit all دن long even though she knows she's not his only one. And our villians? That's Marvel people. Up and down. ETHOS, PATHOS, a bunch of bald old tubbies with no spine! And look at how creative Marvel is! After we kill them off one...
