Hailey’s POV
A few months had passed, and I had settled into life with the Cullens. I still kept to just a few people- Rosalie and Emmett kinda scared the crap out of me. Alice was pretty awesome. Things with Carlisle were great too. After a few freak out moments I had loosened up a bit, and let’s just say he no longer spends his nights alone. I had the house to myself today- Carlisle was at work and the gang was at school. I suppose I may go eventually, senior سال in high school and then possibly university. I got myself out of بستر and headed for the kitchen. Breakfast quickly fixed, I sat at the میز, جدول and started to eat. My gaze fell on some papers Carlisle had left behind and the name on it caught my attention. On the paper was the name of the one person who I truly missed- Jessica Few. She was my best friend for years and had been the one person I could trust. I picked up the paper and started to read. Cancer Patient- Terminal. My spoon fell out of my hand and clattered against the table, sending دودھ and cereal flying. I didn’t care- my best friend was dying.
Carlisle’s POV
I pulled out my بلیک بیری and glanced at the message that had just come in. It was from Jasper. The message read: “you need to come home. Hailey is up in her room, distraught about something and we can’t get her to talk to us.” I quickly finished up my paperwork and badged out, wondering what had happened. I pulled into the driveway and Jasper met me at the front door. “She’s in her room.” He کہا as he watched me go. Sure enough, Hailey was curled up on the couch. She sat completely still; her red eyes that told me she had been crying were fixed on the window. I sat down beside her and waited. Finally after a few minutes, she handed me a paper. It was a sheet about one of my patients that I had mistakenly left behind. “Jess is my best friend. Before I was abducted, she was the one person I could trust. The one person who would do anything for me. And how she’s dying. آپ have to fix her, Carlisle. She cant’ die.” Her voice was no louder than a whisper. “I’m so sorry Hailey, truly I am. But there is nothing that can be done for her.” Her head snapped up. “Wait a minute- آپ could change her! That would cure her, she would be able to live!” the sudden fierce hope in her voice made it extremely awful for me to reject such hope. “Hailey- think about it. If she were to just disappear it would raise a million red flags. And would she really want that? To be torn away from everything and turned into a monster? I know it’s hard to accept the fact that someone is dying, but honestly turning her into a vampire is selfish. To subject her to this, without a choice- what if it isn’t what she wants?”
Hailey’s POV
I was furious. There was a solution to curing her, beating the impossible. And Carlisle was refusing to do it. Absolutely furious, I stormed out of the room, ignoring Carlisle’s pleas for me to hear him out. I pushed past a concerned looking Jasper. “Is Edward home?” I asked. “No, he’s out with Bella. Why?” I just shook my head and continued out the door. I felt Jasper’s hand on my shoulder and I spun around. “Just leave me the hell alone!” I snapped, my sudden intensity surprising him. I shrugged off his hand and took off into the forest.
The river loomed below me, seductive and terrifying at the same time. Do it. There is nothing worth living for anyways. You’re just going to live your life a fearful mess, unable to اقدام on from what happened to you. And these vampires, they can’t possibly actually care about you. The dark side of me egged me on. No. You’re out of your mind. Get your پچھواڑے, گدا back to the house and consider getting some pharmaceutical help. Now. The other side of me believed I had something worth living for. I took a deep breath.
