In debate clash is when the two arguments that the opposing sides have دیا have to do with each other. For example if آپ wanted to legalize cocaine and I make the argument that legalizing cocaine would lead to increased crimes and آپ responded to me سے طرف کی saying that it would actually decrease crimes then we have clash, and the thing about clash it allows us to both present try to present better evidence. The thing about evidence is that it is based on facts so one side is going to have better facts and we can all acknowledge there facts and change our minds. But if آپ کہا that legalizing cocaine would make us all smarter than there would be no clash. The problem with that is simple, we can both present evidence to our hearts content and no one will ever be convinced because we are talking about two different things آپ say. So as آپ can now see clash makes a debate possible. Without it the judge could not make an educated decision on which debater the victor should be. Government is the same way. In the senate یا the house without clash good laws would not be possible because no one would understand each other so no one would ever be able to come to some kind of agreement.
Abortion is one of the most critical issues in the U.S. today. A حالیہ Gallup سروے shows that the country is all but تقسیم, الگ کریں down the middle 49% of the country is pro-choice and 45% pro-life. However 63% of Americans think that Roe v. Wade should remain the law of the land. Many people have speculated on why there is this discrepancy between the number of self described "pro-choicers" and people who support Roe v. Wade. Some people say that it is because many Americans believe that if Roe v. Wade was overturned that all abortions would become illegal instead of abortion becoming a state سے طرف کی state issue. Some people say it is because nobody wants to be the opposite of pro-life and some people like Rudi Giuliani say they are against abortion in every form but think the state should stay away from the issue.
The problem with the abortion argument right now is that there is no clash. The people who are arguing against it say that it is murder clear and clean. The people who argue for it say that a woman has the right to choose what happens to her body. The "pro-choicers" as they are called all but ignore the argument of the "pro-lifers" and vice-versa. This is a serious issue for all people who support Roe v. Wade which is the majority of Americans. John McCain has promised to nominate judges who would overturn Roe V. Wade. If he is elected than the Supreme Court Justices he will most likely get to replace would be one of the four liberal justices. If this happen than Roe v. Wade would be all but dead. So what can we do? What can an average supporter of Roe v Wade do? To start with آپ can vote for Barak Obama who will nominate justices who will uphold Roe v. Wade. But for people like me who are a)not 18 and b) live in a state where there vote does not really matter(ILLNOIS) what can we do. All we can do is try to influence public opinion. Unfortunately the current argument we have (pro-choice) is all but useless because there is no clash.
Here is where my new idea comes in. Self-Defense. Having a child is risky. Carrying a baby through term and giving birth to a baby is risky. Women die because of both of those things about 17936 women every سال یا 2 women every hour. The law on Self-defense is clear if آپ have no way of retreating and reasonable risk of death یا serious injury one has the right to use deadly force to defend oneself. آپ cannot retreat from pregnancy therefore آپ have the right to use deadly force to defend yourself. This Argument creates clash. When آپ use this argument the pro-life idea of the baby being alive and abortion being murder is addressed and nullified. This argument says fine the baby is alive but that doesn't matter.
