I had a long and fascinating discussion about this with my father the other day and we came to the mutual conclusion that while a person may be predetermined to something, depending on how they are raised, their influences, and their choice, they won't necessarily follow their nature. Similarly, I believe that someone can be born predetermined against something, and still end up that way based on nurture.

My father also brought up a third influence: the womb. But that's a whole other barrel of fish.

Then how do you explain that only one out of 3 children who grow up in the same house becomes a criminal?

There are more factors.

It depends on too much, it's impossible to pinpoint.

I think that psychopaths are born that way and can't really help it. I think that other people are victims of their environments but have a lot more choice in the matter.

I really disagree, I think we are all born in a blank state, but from the minute we were born every influence matters. We often hear that psychopaths have had a difficult childhood or had a very bad experience which made them the way they are.

I think it's all about the people you grew up with, you own personality and how things that happen to you affect you.

like if you grew up with abuseing family, you might abuse your children when your older. i belive i would be a completly diffrent person if i grew up with a diffrent family

But to me, the environment has a more powerful influence.
