Disney Princess Article: Disney Princess Nationality Correction

Okay, I had it. I've been reading articles, and Rapunzel is کہا to be Irish? Come on! Her dress is the traditional German clothing! except for longer skirt, and her dress is similar to Snow White! Just that Snow White grew up as a princess while Rapunzel was a peasant but actually a lost princess!

Snow White is German. Like everybody said. Her dress looks similar to that of the traditional clothes of the Bavarian German. Just that she wear the corset lacing at the back as she is noble

Cinderella is French. Her stepmother's surname is Tremaine, and it is a French surname

Aurora is British. Her accent in the movie is close enough to British

Ariel is DANISH, NOT ATLANTICAN....Atlantica is not a real kingdom, and it is assumed to be located in the waters of Danish, yet Eric's kingdom maybe Danish

Belle is French obviously. Belle's name means "Beauty" in French

جیسمین, یاسمین is Arabian. From her clothing and Agrabah's influence, it distinguish her to be Arabian

Pocahontas is Native American. She is the original people in America

Mulan is Chinese obviously. Her clothing and appearance is based on a chinese girl

Tiana is American. She is African American, the سیکنڈ to reside in America after Pocahontas

Rapunzel is GERMAN (Saxony). People کہا she is Irish because majority of her people have brown hair, but her clothing, her people's clothing, are based on the German traditional clothes. Flynn's clothing is also German looking

Merida is Scottish for sure, looking from her accent

jainabieber7 This is actually still wrong... Aurora is French. If she was British, she would have an accent like Alice or Jane. The original play is French, "La Belle au bois dormant" and at EPCOT at WDW, Aurora can be met in the France section with Belle (who is clearly French).

randarful Jasmine is Arab, why would there be a song called "Arabian Nights" in Aladdin if they weren't Arab? The story comes from "1001 Arabian Nights", she has to be Arab. Although I have to disagree that she's Saudi Arabian (although the article didn't say that), but the movie just sort of mixes a whole bunch of Middle Eastern and even Indian influences I guess to avoid singling out one particular culture.

LibelluleBleu I overall agree,but I would add that for Cinderella her last name is Dubois, a french name, and the name of the girls the didn't wanted are very french too and for Belle her name means "beautiful" (not "beauty"),during the song "Belle" everyone say "Bonjour!", Lumière says 'After all miss this is France!" during be our guest, and in The Mob Song, the villagers say "and fifty french can't be wrong" I agree with you that Snow White is german by the clothes and the architecture. For Aurora i'm not sure, you can see german and french symbols, the architecture indicative of Germany and England, the clothes indicate of England and they play the french royal anthem. For Ariel, I don't know.... I always thought i was set in Portugal. Tiana is obviously american and Mulan obviously chinese. I also think that Rapunzel is german, at EPCOT she can be met in the german section, the name Rapunzel is very german and Flynn says "Gesundheit" (the german word for "health")

Swanpride I think they are just from fairy tale land, because nothing fits together. Cinderella for example can't be French, because France was never a "little Kingdom". There are other countries who speak French, though. Or something close to French. The wildlife in Snow White is entirely American (and I wouldn't say that her dress looks Bavarian). There are no turtles, crocodiles or bluebirds in Germany. There are no tropic fishes or flowers in the sea of Denmark, pretty clothe to the really icy areas after all. There are also no high cliffs at the coast of Virginia. And "Corona" is definitely no place in Germany but a made-up country.

Swanpride "Gesundheit" is actually the German equivalent for "bless you"...it's just something you say when someone sneezes.

girlygirlspwn swanpride- it said her town was. it never said her whole country was a kingdom. what other countries would have french last names, use french words and have french style of clothing? i liked this article. i have heard CRAZY things about the nationalities from tiana being canadian to aurora being italian to rapunzel being spanish O_o the annoying thing is, none of these people ever explain their opinions.

fiina I agree with Swanpride, in many movie things are too messed up and Snow White have so many american creatures. I thought Aurora was Germany because castle and one time Germany was just full of little kingdoms so it would make sense. I agree that Tangled is from germany too but "Gesundheit" is quite light reasoning, Mushu said it too. LibelluleBleu, I also thought Ariel was from Portugal, Baltic Sea is way too shallow and there's not corals. Mulan from Vietnam? I'd love to hear reasoning :P

Jessikaroo Snow White has North American wildlife and Dutch clogs. Sleeping Beauty has German architecture, and the side characters clothing is medieval England, while most of the details do point towards France. Eric's kingdom does has Danish influence, but the tropical fish and wildlife are conflicting, not to mention the clothing and the design of his castle. And Rapunzel's kingdom is a loaded gun, there's Asian lanterns, Irish landscapes, German clothing, architecture from all over Europe, and so much more. Disney Princess films are next really "set" any where. They draw on dozens of sources of inspiration, taking the most wonderful and magical aspects of dozens of cultures , time periods, and other films and beginning anew. The setting is up to the interpreter, or "they eye of the beholder," and like with all great art you can't force everyone to interpret it the same as you.

Jane wouldn't dislike Snow White, but she wouldn't care for her because Snow has no ambitions, interests, یا hobbies like Jane does. Her personality is too-housewiveish and she's too young and naive, and she wouldn't like that she sits around and waits for her prince.

I've been lurking on fanpop for awhile, and now that I finally made an account, I've already been here a few days and made a few articles, but I decided to introduce myself. My Name: I have a name, and it's a girl's name, too! But I prefer to go سے طرف کی my pen name, Macy. I call myself Macy the Strange because I'm a پرستار of Emily the Strange, a slightly obscure 90s counterculture icon.
