Of course, we all have our faves and we feel a certain way when our پسندیدہ princesses are getting criticized. For me, I do feel like Tiana gets quite a bit of flack, some deserved but some is quite overboard. For example, people call Tiana mean and even ruthless for simply doing what کرن, رے tells her سے طرف کی leaving him to fight off the shadows سے طرف کی himself but if she went against his orders, آپ know that would be yet another opportunity for people to call her condescending. So I'm just gonna counter some complaints against Tiana.

Human Tiana is مزید likable than frog Tiana.
Not really gonna disagree with that one lol.

Tiana is rude and condescending.
She's only ever rude to Naveen and کرن, رے that one time. She has every right to be mad at Naveen, it's understandable to be aggressive towards someone who puts آپ in a dangerous situation. Also, Naveen is just as arrogant and judgmental towards Tiana as she is to him, just because آپ agree with Naveen's philosophy more, it doesn't make him anymore right یا less rude. As for that ONE time with کرن, رے that people love to bring up, she was speaking out of hurt, کرن, رے himself acknowledges that.

Otherwise, she's pretty well mannered and respectful, she's far less prone to emotional outbursts compared to other princesses, and she takes criticism (her mom, her friends) and even flat-out disrespect (the chef at Duke's, Mr. and Mr. Finner) in stride. A lot of other princesses would either react like an aggressive brat (Jasmine) یا an emotional wreck (Mulan) if they encountered the amount of dissent Tiana has to endure. She even calls Mama Odie "ma'am". Tiana may not agree with Lottie's ideals but Tiana never talks down to Lottie and she even gives her advice on how to achieve her dreams of romance. Granted most of these are when she's human, so this kinda adds to the first point.

Her character is "anti-wishing" and "anti-fairytale"
I do think aspects of Tiana's character panders to the anti-Disney crowd. I mean, it's no surprise that the first black princess just has to be a "hard-working independent aspiring businesswoman blah blah blah", but here's the thing, the reason why PATF doesn't piss Disney شائقین off as much as other revival films, is that it ultimately embraces the trope it's criticizing. Brave and Frozen do this to an extent as well but PATF is just....better at it.

This common argument would make a lot مزید sense if Tiana was a lazy slacker and everyone was nagging her to start working hard but she's portrayed as in the wrong for working too hard, her lesson is to learn to do so less and in the end while hard work helped her get part of the way, love, luck, and faith are what helped her reach the finish line. This is in contrast to Naveen who's portrayed as in the wrong for having too much fun and he learns his lesson accordingly. Are they the most well-written character arcs? Not really. Did the writers actually try to have a fair objective view on the subject from both sides? Yes.

Tiana being a frog for most of the movie is problematic and even "racist".
This is really stupid. This was just Disney trying to put their own on the original fairytale. Like "let's turn the princess into a frog too in our version! So original!" Is it stupid? Depends on who آپ ask. Is it racist? Hell no.

So there آپ go, I plan on doing this for other princesses in the future. Thanks for reading.

I'm actually looking آگے to watching this a little مزید than I did when I had to watch Maleficent. This remake may not live up to the standards of the original but personally it's always been enjoyable to watch.

Tonight's rewatch: Cinderella

How much did I like this movie as a kid?
The first time I watched Cinderella I did like it and there were some changes I liked but then there were some changes I really had to question. Even with the problems I have with this movie I still like to watch it every now and then.

How much of this movie have I forgotten:

Since the...

This is another sequel I haven't seen in forever. Longer than forever, actually. I would say I'm excited to watch this but after Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World I'm not looking آگے to watching this one.

Tonight's rewatch: Cinderella II: Dreams Come True
Last time watched: 2002

How much did I like this movie as a kid?
The beginning of this story is exactly the same as the one about Pocahontas 2; I wasn't into the original that much when I was a kid, but then this cartoon Disney movie with familiar faces came out, begged my dad to get me a copy, fin. But unlike Pocahontas 2 I actually did...

Here's the مضمون for Pocahontas!

I know in the past I've made تبصرے about how I don't like this movie because it's been کہا that the tale of Pocahontas saving John was a lie and I've also کہا I can't stand Pocahontas and John together because it's gross Pocahontas was aged up for this movie. However I will watch this movie and just enjoy it without thinking about those things.

By now آپ should all know what I write about in these مضامین so I'll just go ahead and start!

Tonight's rewatch: Pocahontas

Now with all the issues, people have with Disney, one of the films that have legitimate grievances is Pocahontas. And as آپ can imagine, because there ARE legit grievances to be had with Pocahontas, sites like Tumblr have an absolute field دن with it. Personally, the مزید research I did on the situation around this film, the مزید I was actually fascinated سے طرف کی it.

I know it's easy to write this movie off but how it came to be is a lot مزید nuanced than آپ think. It actually was gonna be a story closer to what happened in history but then Jefferey Katzenberg's overwhelming desire to get another...

Though not nearly as much as Merida and other revival princesses,Tiana is occasionally bashed for contributing to Disney's current trend of "meta", "woke" commentary with her whole "hard work, آپ can't just wish" shtick. While this does irritate me, I try to separate film makers' intentions from the actual context of the movie and the character.

In the first act of the film, she's portrayed as diligent and determined but she's not as in your face about it. For the most part, her thing is "partying and dancing just isn't my for me". She's not insistent, condescending یا critical of others for...

As asteriamalfoy recently reported on the club wall, it appears that Moana will soon become the newest member of the Disney Princess lineup. The club's reception to the news is a mixed bag, which is the latest example of how the general Fanpop opinion (namely, this club's opinion) doesn't always match that of the internet. It's interesting why that is, and I will attempt to find the reason here.

Before going forward, be aware that everything that I consider an "opinion" of Fanpop and/or the internet is a generalization. True, there are some users on both this website and the rest of the worldwide...
