I've never told anyone to, "Move a character higher on their list" I might defend a character I like, but I would never want to completely change someone's opinions about anything, even though it might be my intention. Like that has been said, it's just normal to like and dislike things. You'll always disagree with people, and you might accidentally try to hard to want to defend something, but that's just human error. I say it's best to try to let opinions be opinions.
