this is not how i would classify each of the eras though

I want to make it clear that I'm not trying to bash the Classic in this poll because they really aren't that big of damsels in distress and can't do much about their situations. But I love how in this one, neither the prince or the princess look helpless and show that they can both handle themselves but aren't perfect and need help sometimes. One of the reasons the Renaissance is my favorite Disney era. But I have to say that, besides Mulan, the Renaissance princesses aren't as heroic and badass as they could be. I mean, Jasmine and Ariel do show in the sequels and especially the TV series' that they are badass. I do think we have some Disney Princesses that are heroic and badass but none of them are on the same level as Mulan and that's what I was hoping Merida would be, but she wasn't. I wish there would be more Disney Princesses that were at least comparable to Mulan's heroics and badassery.

I like it on romance when the girl saves the boy, I'm a romantic like that. Sadly Disney barely ever does that...(aside from Pocahontas, I'm thinking)

By the way I don't recall where Naveen saves the sidekicks, or Flynn... or Kristoff....
And I can think of where Flynn is saved BY Maxims and the Thugs. And Tiana saves Naveen and I think he saves her back? Also, Merida saves her mother, twice, first from her father and then from changing into a bear completely.

That's because Naveen, Flynn, and Kristoff are the princes that constantly have to be saved the princesses and sidekicks (well, Kristoff isn't with the sidekicks). Naveen has to be saved by Ray when he's locked in a box and when he's captured by the frog hunters by going up his nose (GROSS). I love Flynn, but I can think of several times where he and Naveen have to constantly be saved. Kristoff has to be saved a lot too but not to the extent that the two of them have to.

I mostly agree with Princesslullaby on how I wouldn't classify the era's like this. But anyways, I like this one the most.

The Little Mermaid is not an example of this though. Ariel saves him twice, but constantly has to be saved by him, her father and the sidekicks every other time for the rest of the movie.

Also, what's with your obsession with "badasses" and characters who save others verses having to be saved by others?

Tygers_Eye What does it matter? Are you never satisfied unless you have to criticize something. Also Eric only saved Ariel twice, once by her dad, and a few times by the sidekicks. She saves Eric's life twice, saved Flounder from the shark and does a minor rescue with Sebastian at the dinner table. *waits for cynical response from Tygers_Eye*

^^Nah. Eric saves Ariel an equal amount: just twice. He pulls her out of the boat after Flotsam and Jetsam overturn it, and again when Ursula becomes a huge mega-monster.

let's see in Mulan we have have both Mulan and Shang being saved by her horse Yao Ling and Chien-Po running to help Mulan during the mountain fight saving her Shang Mushu Kahn Mushu and Cri-Kee Shang being saved by Mulan twice and for the first time Shang repaid his debt by allowing Mulan to live when she was discovered
