princesslullaby picked Ariel:
1. Ariel in TLM 2
2. Cinderella in A Twist in Time
3. Belle in Enchanted Christmas
4. Aurora in Enchanted Tales

and the rest, including Ariel's prequel, are all okay. Slight differences but not that bad.

KataraLover picked Ariel:
Aurora never had a personality to begin with, so the fact that they gave her one wasn't ruining her. What did ruin her was giving her a singing voice that clearly wasn't an opera one like the original, not that her voice in that movie was bad. Ariel's actions in the second movie are understandable but I really hate that she hid the truth from Melody when she could have told her when she was 8 or 9 without scaring her too badly. Cinderella in the third movie, she just takes action but is still the same. The others pretty much stay in character. I never got why people thought Belle was out of character in Enchanted Christmas.

^There are a lot of scenes where Beast yells at Belle and she doesn't yell at him back or stick up for herself, which she did in the original movie. She wouldn' just blindly keep trying to please the Beast when he was being a dick.

Ariel in the second movie really makes no sense to me, Ariel is the last princess I could see being so overprotective as a parent, circumstances with Morgana nonwithstanding.

KataraLover picked Ariel:
When the Beast was yelling at her about him being the master of the castle and that there wouldn't be a Christmas she said "How can you be so selfish?" and when he tells her that she couldn't understand what's it's like to lose everything you have and to be a prisoner in your own castle she says "The only one keeping anyone prisoner is you!" There are plenty of times where she defends herself. Besides, it's not just the Beast that she's trying to please, it's everyone else in the castle. Chip had never even heard of Christmas and was trying to bring joy not only to the Beast but to everyone in the castle. That sounds a lot like the Belle I know from the original.

As for Ariel, I can't really make a strong argument about that because I pretty much agree with the criticisms she gets from the movie. The only argument I can make is that her infant daughter was almost killed and that scared the hell out of her. I guess it all comes from becoming a parent to understand, not that I'm actually a parents and I don't plan to be for a while.

Yeah, but her being a parent doesn't make it excusable. There's things Belle says that indicate she's trying to change him... no point in debating, I think she sort of acts like she's trying to please the Beast waaaay too much.

I don't think Belle was trying to change Beast but was just trying to make him happy. It only seems that way because Beast's flaws all come from his anger.

Right, but Belle would never have a goal of making Beast happy in the original. She never acted like that. It's not her job to do that.

KataraLover picked Ariel:
But that's the point of Belle. Belle is more of a role-model and the kind of person that we should be as apposed to the people we encounter. Belle's name means beauty but it's not just because of her outer beauty but also because of her inner beauty. She's a symbol of the best of humanity and the person we should all strive to be. Besides, he did save her life and they began to become friends. Even if it wasn't my job, I would do whatever I could to make my friend happy and I'm FAR from the perfection of Belle.

But the Beast wasn't Belle's friend. She wouldn't even come down to dinner for him. Remember, she only started being nice when HE was nice first. Belle doesn't just go around trying to please people and make them happy. That's one of the reasons I love her.

They became friends when he saved her life. And like I said, it's not just Beast that she was trying to make happy, it was everyone else in the castle that had always been kind to her and were wonderful friends to her. Beast was kind to her when they were ice-skating and she saw how being reminded of what a hideous monster caused him pain and thought that making him happy would help being out more of the good person she knows he is. She doesn't let him push her around either. When he forbids Christmas she just decides that she and everyone in the castle will celebrate with or without him.

Its funny to me how she takes after Triton when it comes to parenting when she hated it so much growing up but I love her in all 3 movies

Tygers_Eye picked Belle:
In the first movie, she is a kind, polite, but independent young lady who lives and lets live. She keeps her nose in a book and out of other people's business. She's okay with other people doing or thinking whatever they want as long as they don't try to push their will onto her (like the townsfolk trying ot change her, Gaston trying to force her to marry him), or threaten her loved ones (the Beast or Gaston trying to lock up her father).

In the second movie, she is one of those preachy, annoying to busybodies who constantly tries to change and fix people into being what she wants. She constantly lectures other characters about the joys of Christmas, tries to force everyone to get into the Christmas spirit even if they don't want to (BEAST), constantly tries to get the Beast to cheer up even though she doesn't owe him anything (him imprisoning her forever and all), and finally acts like a put-upon doormat to the Beast's temper.

She keeps trying to cheer him up and "fix" him even though a) he makes it clear he doesn't want to be fixed, b) he constantly treats her like **** for it, and c) Belle doesn't owe him anything since he destroyed her life and her dreams and she shouldn't care if he's miserable or not, d) the Belle from the first movie did NOT let anyone push her around.

EDIT: Gaston tried to bend her into being his ideal housewife? She politely threw him out the first time, called him a monster the second time. The Beast acted like a jerk to her? She shut him out and ran away from him until he saved her life, then she was willing to try to make it work, but ONLY after putting the Beast in his place, telling him off for treating her terribly ("YOU should learn to control your temper!"), and only came around after he decided to stop being a jerk and start being nice to her. She didn't keep badgering him or taking his verbal abuse until he finally started coming around.

This movie is terrible!
