This has always floored me for some reason. In a culture that limits the roles of women--- save for squeezing out babies and cooking, you have a girl who thinks outside the box. I find this version of femininity inspiring, because while a frilly dress and reading fairy-tales about castles, princes in disguise, and of far of places is nice, yada, yada... it doesn't exactly embody utility in the real world. Mulan's willingness to get her hands dirty and "reconstruct" herself by facing her own worst flaws is something no other girl in the lineup truly does. And that's why I had to give her the top slot in my list. Of all the DPs, Mulan is the girl with the most brains, courage, stamina, and guts.
