Belle is the one who was too forgiving of her prince in my opinion.

Aladdin was not a bad person in the first place. Yes, he made a mistake pretending that he was a prince (and that he did it clearly only to be with Jasmine, he did not think about being a sultan), but in the end he admitted his guilt. And he gave Genie his last wish, releasing him from the slavery of the lamp, even knowing that perhaps after that he would lose his chance with Jasmine. In the end, every person in his life makes his mistakes, we are all not perfect, it is important only to be able to admit guilt and try not to do it in the future.

Aladdin is not near as awful as beast. Al doesn't demand Jasmine's affection, nor does he believe that she should not speak her mind.

I have trouble with Aladdin lying, but he told lies to get by, and he also stole food...while living in the streets. Sometimes deprivation creates poor habits, and a different socioeconomic status might get rid of some of these.

Aladdin isn't abusive, though. I don't like abusive guys and judgmental guys at all.

there's a context behind his lies and he learns that it is not the right way. So it was good of jasmine to to forgive him.

Just because he isn't as awful as the Beast doesn't mean he isn't awful. Again, I am including the sequels here where Al just keeps lying and lying and his upbringing is no excuse to treat Jasmine the way he did, like she was shallow and stupid.

^Yeah. Okay. But I don't really love Disney sequels, nor do I use them to officially judge the original characterization they had.

For instance-- I don't include Melody as legit, because her BLAMING and SHAMING of Ariel was just so that Ariel could be re-written entirely--- ( in a total reversal of her personality) -- to be a control freak.

The sequels have their place, I guess, as a Disney money grab. But the only sequel I think is worth anything is Cinderella III.

^fine, but in the original film, if jasmine hadnt realized who he was before the carpet ride, he would have gone through with marrying her in disguise. That's really shitty to me. And I agree about certain sequels, depending on if I feel they make the characters ooc or not.
