I agree. I think he really admired "Ping" as a soldier and all of the progress/growth that he has made as a person. However, it would be funny if he WAS attracted.

Ping was attracked to HIM. he just thought it was weird, because he had a hunch ping had a thing for him. HE AINT GAY!

No, I don't think Shang was attracted to Ping at all. But it is fun to think that way.

i agree with lullaby. but i picked 'no' because Disney meant to portray that he loved Mulan. but because it was so sudden, he came across as gay.

I agree with princesslullaby. I honestly think Shang had a little crush on Ping ;) When I watched Mulan with one of my friends and the movie came to the part where Mulan's true identity was revealed I was like: "Can you see the relief in Shang's eyes?" and my friend started to laugh ;)

No, Shang was friend with Ping. I have never even thinking that he has had crush or something and even that I now wached Mulan I can't see anything like that. Actually this questions (what is in there pretty much) mostly annoying me because nothing really suggest to it.

Disney wasn't progressive enough in 1998 to make a character bisexual. He isn't even that progressive now.
