It kind of helps for the film, it supports the "when are they gonna like each other?" questions to build a relationsship, so the movie is a little more interesting.

The other grates on my nerves and is often too rushed when it's in a Disney movie.

Though I find this annoying in TV shows. In anime shows, like Ranma 1/2 and Inuyasha, it bugs me that the whole show is them fighting like they hate each other and then getting jealous when a third party makes a move on either one of them. It just drags on and on. I just think "Get together already or stop playing games". In Disney Princess movies, it's quicker. They only bicker for a little while.

I really, really hate the "they can't stand each other but in reality, they are made for each other" - trope. I also like it if a relationship starts of on more or less neutral ground, like they did it in Mulan or Tangled, and they did a really good job in Beauty and the Beast to allow the Beast to find his human side again.

i like realistic couples

I prefer a couple hating eachother and then they love eachother.

@pretty_angel92 Me too - and I think hate to love is totally unrealistic - but all relationships I know which really work started out as love at the first sight.

I like it when people just immedatly falls for each other instead of first hating each other at least in Disney movies. In real life it's okay if people hate each other first then falls for each other.

@PociandSmith I wouldn't call Eugene's and Rapunzel's romance hate to love - It's not like they really dislike each other at the beginning, they just have different goals (well, and Rapunzel is aftraid).

In general, love/hate relationships by miles, but if we're talking just Disney, I'd say love at first sight. I can't think of any good love/hate relationships in a Disney movie, unless you count Beauty and the Beast, but that's not really a love/hate imo.

The ones I think of are Tiana/Naveen and Esmeralda/Phoebus, both very good. Also, a bit with Flynn/Rapunzel and Pocahontas/John Smith, but I don't think either of those are full blow love/hate relationships, sort of misunderstandings at first. My favorite love/hate relationships are not Disney though with Anya and Dimitri from "Anastasia" and Ron and Hermione from Harry Potter.

@milky-way Actually, Tiana and Naveen is the only Love/hate relationship. Esmeralda/Phoesbus is not really hate, it's more "you're suppose on the opposite side", there is no personal hate between them. Neither is between Pocahonas and John Smith (that's more love at the first sight either way). Rapunzel and Flynn start out on an even ground, but they don't hate each other, they just have both their own interest in mind.
I think love/hate is even more unrealistic than "love at the first sight".
