This annoys me. I feel like Shang should have been helping Mulan, and I don't understand how he could consciencely just leave Mulan up there with Shan Yu. On the other hand, maybe he just woke up from being knocked out, had no idea where they were, so his first instinct was to find the emperor. On the other hand, shouldn't his first instinct have been to help Mulan? On the OTHER hand, maybe not, because his duty is to his country.

I'm not even sure if he was going to check on the emperor. And to make another point, if he had gone to help Mulan, he would have taken some of the spotlight away from her.



This scene annoys me. In my opinion, the battle between Shang & Shan Yu should have been more drawn out, resulting in them ending up on the roof, while Mulan gets the emperor to safety. Then she should go back up and save Shang's ass. (after he gets knocked out, maybe).

It seemed weird I couldn't at the time know where he was going maybe running after he heard an explosion or something

princeslullaby, I'm not sure about this... Have you watched the movie recently? There's about 8 months I don't watch it, but I remember about Mulan closing some door... Maybe the door separeted them and Shang was trying to find another way to reach her. But I really have to rewatch this to be sure. And according to my schedule, that will happen only in April 2012 = )

But Shan Yu broke through the door, so Shang could easily break through it too.

Hmm... Maybe he went searching help. He already got knocked up by Shan yu once, what would be the difference if he faced him again? And maybe he had already gone back to the place they were before (with the emperor) and Mulan wasn't there anymore, so he was searching for them inside the palace. The only thing I'm sure is that Shang wouldn't leave Mulan alone if he knew where she was and how to get there.

But that's the thing, he was OUTSIDE the palace. Not inside.

Maybe he was going down the stairs because he heard sounds from the roof and was trying to see what was happening there, so he went down the stairs to get a better view.

Didn't think of that. I wish it was explained, though. :/

I always though that he either was searching for Mulan and wanted a better view on the roof, or while he was searching for Mulan, he saw Shan flying in the direction of the firework, so he know he had to leave the palace as fast as possible, hoping that Mulan managed to leap to safety.

I think that he tried to help her, he just didn't know where she is. Because if Shang finally went after Mulan(He was shell-shocked as I guess you saw)so he would see the breaking door and fallen pillar which has breaking the wall and only if he was looked up he would have seen the hole in roof. So I suppose that he was trying to find where Mulan was gone when he run outside to the palace. I agree with Swanpride too.

what WAS he doing? lol. I doubt that he saw her jump, and he was trying to catch her. But it's funny to think so because she fell on him. XD it looked painful.
