It was nice having Australia for 1 year & they took the 5th place if im not mistaken? But it's EUROvision & I'm afraid if they continue they'll be like the big 5. They'll send bad songs and they'll rank very low in the scoreboard.

"But it's EUROvision" - Israel isn't a part of Europe either, yet it's a permanent contestant. If Isreal may compete, why can't Austrialia?
Every country that are broadcasting ESC and are active members of EBU are allowed to compete.

"If they continue they'll be like the big 5. They'll send bad songs and they'll rank very low in the scoreboard" - Italy placed 3rd this year,
Italy, Germany and Spain were on top 10 2012.
Italy placed 2nd 2011 with Britain on 11th place and Germany on 10th.
Germany /won/ 2010.
Britain placed 5th 2009 with France on 9th place.

That's not "low ranking" if you ask me.

Lol I'm an Australian.

We LOVE Eurovision over here, I've watched it for years and years and adore it. Aussies don't take it very seriously though, treating it with amusement and constantly joking about the sheer number of wind machines, costume reveals and tacky pyrotechnics that a good ESC wouldn't be without xD

It was awesome to do for a year as a "wild card". A nice gesture of recognition for the decade of support we've given it, and overall just a fun experience. Though while I fully support Australia's inclusion as a guest entry, I don't feel we should become a permanent fixture of Eurovision- sort of diminishes the spirit of the contest that is about bringing Europe together as one. We have enough fun just watching on anyway xD

Thank you Europe for having us <3

Being a "permanent" participant doesn't mean that a country has to compete every year. It would simply allow Australia to be in the competition if the country wants to participate. After all, Eurovision isn't a must. There are countries who have said no.
I'd love to see Australia in Eurovision again without having to wait 10 years for the 70th anniversary. If they even ask Australia to participate 2025.

What's the poin of having Austarila in the EUROvision Song Contest? It was held in Europe and the contestants were only European for years and years, this really wasn't necessary.I think the main reason for putting Australia in the comptetion, and possibly China next year, as they said, is because Eurovision is not what it used to be anymore. The participants are year by year worse and worse, people don't watch it that much and they desperately need to spread onto another audience.

I've already explained this. "Every country that are broadcasting ESC and are active members of EBU are allowed to compete". It doesn't have to be European, which EBU has confirmed.

The reason why they wanted Australia to compete this year was because of the "special anniversary" and that Australia has been broadcasting the show for...wasn't it 30 years? It was fair to let them be in it at least once.

About China, China asked to compete 2016, but EBU said no.

And "People don't watch it that much". Lol. This year's Eurovision had about 200 million watchers.

10 MONTHS LATE BUT @VocaChan

FROM THE TIME BIG 4 AND BIG 5 STARTED

UK: 2005 - #22 / 2006 - #19 / 2007 - #22 / 2008 - #25 / 2009 - #5 / 2010 - #25 / 2011 - #11 / 2012 - #25 / 2013 - #19 / 2014 - #17 / 2015 - #24

SPAIN: 2005 - # 21 / 2006 - #21 / 2007 - #20 / 2008 - #16 / 2009 - #24 / 2010 - #15 / 2011 - #23 / 2012 - #10 / 2013 - #25 / 2014 - #10 / 2015 - #21

GERMANY: 2005 - #4 / 2006 - #14 / 2007 - #19 / 2008 - #23 / 2009 - #20 / 2010 - #1 / 2011 - #10 / 2012 - #8 . 2013 - #21 / 2014 - #18 / 2015 - #27

FRANCE: 2005 - #23 / 2006 - #22 / 2007 - #22 / 2008 - #19 / 2009 - #8 / 2010 - #12 / 2011 - #15 / 2012 - #22 / 2013 - #23 / 2014 - #26 / 2015 - #25

Italy has a better luck considering it made the comeback in 2011 but don't tell me they are successful because you found the exceptions. Don't get me wrong i love those countries but tell me how many times they would have passed in the final if they weren't Big 5. Maybe they would have put much more effort if they had to compete to be in the Final but it's not fair since they put all the money into this.

i don't want to see countries outside europe on eurovision. i already don't understand why israel, azerbaijan and armenia are allowed to participate, i don't need other outsiders. i hope they never let china participate.
