We are a great people, full of creativity and ingenious - heck, this is our main resource : people and their intelligence, as we have no gas, no oil, nothing of the like. We are rich, of what we can do and above all, of what we are, our people.
We have a great social system - even if some people try to get it down the drain. Now we are in a presidential election time and the battle of ideas is in full swing. I hope the forces of progress - real progress, for everyone, not that so-called progress named financial capitalism that profits only to a small minority - will win.
Liberty, Equality, Fraternity : our motto. We do our best to abide سے طرف کی it, even if some people try to dismantle that model we received from our forefathers in 1789, and which continued in 1944 with the Programme of the Resistance National Council.
Religion ? Our Republic is "laïque", it means that no religion is official, to ensure everyone's freedom of conscience. Religion is something private, end of the story. I know this concept can be difficult to grasp but we suffered many awful civil wars and conflicts throughout the past centuries.
What else ? Listen to the song "Ma France" سے طرف کی Jean Ferrat (you may find it on YouTube) : it sums up what France is for me, for many people in the country too.
As for the food : taste it. As for the landscapes : come and visit us. As for the trees : come and hug them here too. Don't go to tourist spots, but travel in places that nobody talks about, they are the best surprises ever.
There's a German saying : "Happy like God in France". Which speaks volumes.
I like my country but what I love most is the impulse it can give to other countries in the world, as a place where great ideas have started in the past, like the Enlightment period for example. To be like a beacon in the dark for everyone is the best part my country can have.
