I think I'm becoming مزید and مزید confident with my writing, even though it still sucks.
Chapter Twenty-Three
“All of them?”
“Yes.”
“What caused it?”
“Your insane brother.”
I stood up from the chair and paced back and forth, rubbing my wrists. “They're all dead...”
“Lili and I barely made it out of there. Did آپ know that bullets only make a dent in blondes with glasses?” Elizaveta joked.
“Not funny.”
“Right, sorry. Anyway, yeah, they're all dead.”
“Do آپ know who all is left alive? Do آپ have communication?”
“Yes. Let's see, from what I can tell, all of your group is still alive, right?”
I shook my head. “Ludwig, Arthur, Ivan, Yao, Kiku, and Lovino are gone. We got a new member though. Over all, six left. Including me.”
“Okay. Well, آپ six, Lili and I, Dennis, Peter, Natalia, and Roderich. So, twelve. Plus, I think Antonio is still alive. Thirteen.”
“Thirteen. Out of so many. This damn Virus, it's screwed everything up.”
“Well, was there ever a set way of things happening?” Lili piped up from the door. She turned to face me, and I realized she had an eyepatch.
“No. Obviously not. Otherwise things would be too orderly. To... simple.” I answered.
She nodded and turned back to the door, carefully keeping guard. She was wearing a green جیکٹ exactly like her brother Vash's, and was carrying a notably big gun.
“So, what are we going to do now? Just sit here? My group is still out there.” I looked at Elizaveta.
“Well, you're the one who left them behind.”
I suddenly felt very stupid. How could I do that? Leave them like that! They could be dead سے طرف کی now. “Where's my jacket?” I rubbed my bare arms.
“Over there, but don't even try going outside.”
“Sorry.” I put on my jacket. “But I have to.” Opening the door, I started down the hallway. This level looked much مزید manufactured than the first. Everything was made of new, shiny metal. It was clean. Too clean. I rested my hand on the دیوار and saw that, in comparison, my hand was filthy. Dried blood and dirt covered it, and آپ could barely see my fingernails, which were bitten down to stubs from worry. I didn't hear Lili یا Elizaveta coming down the hall after me, so I guess they decided to let me go. I wonder why. Passing many doors that looked exactly the same, I saw they all had numbers on them. 25B, 27B, 29B, 31B, آپ get the picture. The place smelled of chemicals and body fluids. The cleanliness of the place was so extreme, it made me sick. Ugh. I need out of here. I finally found what looked like an elevator, and pressed the up button. Pressing my ear against the door, I wondered if there were any مزید secret floors. The door opened immediately, with no sound at all. I stepped in and looked at the panel. It ha three levels – Level One, Level Two, and Garage. Curious, I pressed Garage. The elevator slid down the shaft silently, and re-opened two سیکنڈ later.
I stepped out and took in the surroundings. It was the same concrete as Level One, but there was مزید dirt. Five vans and four motorcycles stood along the walls, along with a ramp curling around a corner out of sight. I walking over to one of the motorcycles, I saw they all had keys already in them. Just for fun, I got on a sleek black and green one, revving it. Ah, that purr was nice. I think I'll call it Helena [[Get it?]]. Riding it toward the ramp, I was getting the feel of it. With a leap of faith, I sped up and went up the curve of the ramp, into the darkness.
“What the HELL are آپ doing?!” I heard someone running behind me. Stopping Helena, I turned to see a man coming toward me, wearing a white button-down, black pants, and black shoes.
“I've never seen آپ before. Who are you?” I got off the cycle and walked to the near-collapsing man. “I think آپ should breathe....”
He put his hands on his knees to support himself. “I'm Roderich...” He huffed.
“Oh. Hi. I'm Zana.” I held my hand out for a handshake, and he took it. Standing up straight, I saw how stressed he was.
“What do آپ think you're dong with that motorcycle?” He gave me a stern look.
“I'm going out.”
“Not right now.” He crossed his arms.
“You know you're not my dad, right?” I examined a nearby van. Suddenly I got an idea. “Hey... wanna be useful?”
Looking slightly offended, he stared at me. “How?”
“By driving a van.”
Gilbert's POV
As we were running, I heard a loud grumble. Almost like a motorcycle...
“Zana آپ little genius.” Alfred mumbled.
A large black وین and a woman on a motorcycle sped towards us. They halted, and the rider took off her helmet, shaking her مرکت, ایمرلڈ curls.
“Hop in.” Zana gestured to the van. A man with dark hair and glasses was driving it. Roderich.
Mathew slid the door open, and we all piled in. Zana started up and drove back the direction they came, the وین close behind. She was holding her gun out to the side, I noticed. Ready for anything.
“Where are we going?” Matthew asked Roderich.
“Back to the safehouse, of course. Then we're going to break out again.”
“That makes no sense!” Alfred called from the back.
“We need to get directions from Elizaveta. We're going to Peter's place. It's the most محفوظ there.”
“But that's in the middle of the ocean!” Matthew exclaimed.
“If it keeps everyone safe, we have to.” Feliciano stated.
