But I think in the long run, it really was best for Hurley to become the island protector. It's an awesome throwback to season two (when he had to be in charge of the food) and Jack was right about Hurley; he takes good care of people.
I think Jack would have made an amazing protector for the island, but that just wasn't what he was meant to do.
