Johnny Depp\'s Wolf costume and Lilla Crawford\'s Red Riding Hood costume from Into the Woods...

Rob Marshall\'s 2014 big screen adaptation of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine\'s Tony Award-winning musical, Into the Woods, Johnny Depp plays \'The Wolf\' and newcomer Lilla Crawford stars as \'Little Red Riding Hood\' from the classic fairytale given a dark and musical twist.

Oscar-winning Costume Designer extraordinaire, Colleen Atwood, was responsible for re-imagining the wardrobe of these classic fairytale characters for this big screen adaptation, and a large selection of screen-used costumes from the movie were being exhibited at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood on January 6, 2015.

Just like the musical itself which is a mashup of classic 

Brothers Grimm fairytales, the costumes themselves are a mashup of different periods, styles and inspirations.

Original costume worn by Johnny Depp as The Wolf 

Johnny Depp\'s look as \'The Wolf\' is inspired by the swing era and the 1940\'s and 50\'s Tex Avery MGM cartoons with the zoot suit-wearing wolf character.

This is a hip, big, bad wolf in a fur-fringed fedora and thin wool embroidered zoot suit with fur lapels and dangling cat chain. Apparently

The Wolf\'s tail is made from a wig-making technique from the 1920\'s. I also like the nice, almost dangerous, splash of red in the The Wolf\'s tie.
