End of Chapter 9
Aaron hollered a battle cry and rushed into the shadows, not thinking..just acting. Michael and I waited in anticipation for a sign from Aaron, the longer we waited the مزید scared/anxious I got. "You should have listened to the warning." The voice called from the other end of the alley.

"You run from me?" I yelled as I took off into the dark to find nothing at the end of the alley.
I looked around, trying to figure out where the monster could have gone, but not finding any signs of where it disappeared to. I kicked at the garbage and گھاس, ہے that laid in the streets, not finding anything until my foot his what looked to be a crude box. I waited a few سیکنڈ before I was brave enough to kick it again, surprised when the box moved about two feet to the side, revealing a crude opening to the sewer system below town.
I was still standing there staring down into the hole when I heard Michael and the rest of the تلاش party coming running down the alley, calling my name the entire time. I heard my father gasp as he came across Aaron's head, which was still staring up into space. He leaned forward, whispering a prayer as he made the sign of the پار, صلیب and closed his eyes.
"What happened here?" My father asked so appalled and angry that he was trembling slightly.

"Let's go back to the church." My father suggested.
I moved the box back to where I found it, covering the entrance to the tunnel. We all moved quickly through town, everyone's eyes darting around as if they were waiting for something to attack them at any moment.
The walk to the church took half the time because of the adrenalin we all had pulsing through our bodies. We all took refuge in the sanctuary, feeling safer in this place then we could in any other.
"What happened out there?" My father demanded.
"Like I said, Michael, Aaron and I went out behind the tavern. It was so still back there..." I کہا as I shivered. "There was no wind, no critters یا sounds at all. "You were going to fight it alone?" My father asked, his eyes wide.
"No..yes...I don't know. I just thought it wanted to talk to me."
"What did it say?" Father asked in surprise.
"It told me that I should have listened, I should have not gone looking for it یا them...then it disappeared."
"Disappeared?" A voice called.
"Yes, I think that it went down into the sewers. I think that is where it hides during the day." I said, pretty sure of my findings.
