I had been planning it for some time but I wanted to take Kate and دکھائیں her the legendary ice caves above Crystal Lake. This frozen cave stays frozen سال round even in the hottest months of July and August when temperatures reach 90 to 100 degrees. It was about a 7 mile hike from the parking area and would take most of the دن to do, for Kate it would be easy but it is a different story for me.
"You will like this place Kate trust me," I assured her while packing supplies into the Bronco. I opened the passenger door for her.
"Get in," Kate leaped in.
I got in and before starting the Bronco I pumped the gas once.
"What is that for?" Kate asked.
"With these older vehicles after they have been sitting all night it is best to پمپ the gas once in order to prime the carburetor so it starts easier watch."
I turned the key and the Bronco turned over and fired with a throaty aggressive rumble.
"See what I mean? Had I not done that it would have taken about 4 turnovers to start." I told her. I let the Bronco warm up for a while.
"This thing is a beast!" Kate said.
"Yes it is Kate, they don't make trucks like this anymore!" I dropped the transmission lever into drive and we took off for Crystal Lake campground.
Kate watched out the window as trees and houses passed سے طرف کی the window as the Bronco roared down the highway. They turned down a gravel road and continued for miles. Kate noticed that the area around them was getting denser with trees and foliage.
"Welcome to the Big Snowy Mountains Kate, here are some of the most mysterious mountains in Montana, there are things up there that scientists can't explain like these bottomless pits up on سب, سب سے اوپر that are so deep آپ can throw rocks in and not hear them hit the bottom, if آپ fell in one آپ would be swallowed up in the depths of them." Jon said. The Bronco left the gravel and drove on a narrow, winding, paved road that continued to climb up higher into the Big Snowy Mountains.
Kate now looked out her window and saw a steep cliff full of jagged rocks, the sight made her stomach churn, what if the Bronco went over the edge? As if Jon could read her mind he said, "don't worry Kate I have driven this road numerous times and we will not go over the edge!" That made her feel and better yet the cliff turned into a ہل, لندن with a bunch of trees on it so all was good now. Jon turned off the road and drove up to a body of crystal clear water.
"That right there is Crystal Lake one of the most beautiful places on earth I think," کہا Jon. He was right too, the lake glimmered in the sun and all around it pine trees towered above.
"We got lots of ground to cover today so we need to get to the trail head," he کہا backing up the Bronco and turning back onto the narrow road. They continued for about a mile when he turned off into a deserted parking lot, he parked the Bronco in the shade of a few trees and shut it off. Jon threw his backpack on his shoulders and they set off up the trail to the ice caves.
These mountains were full of all sorts of interesting smells and Kate's nose was picking up some unusual senses. She could smell traces of all animals and worst of all she could smell the trace of wolves that was fairly new, she did not know what she would do if rival wolves came across them. They hiked for 2 hours before they finally reached the ice caves.
"This is it Kate, welcome to the ice caves!" Jon indicated a cave and inside Kate could see sure enough there was ice in there. Jon went in first and Kate followed.
"Here comes the fun part!" Jon sat down and slid on his bottom down the ice and into the cave. Kate did the same sliding right into him. Jon shined his flashlight around the relatively small cave cold water dripped from the ceiling.
"Not much else to see in here but it is cool isn't it?"
"Yes it is very neat," کہا Kate.
"Well we better get headed back if we want to make it to the Bronco سے طرف کی dark," کہا Jon as he tried to climb back up the icy slope. He slipped and heavily fell and slid back down.
"Fuck, I knew this wasn't going to be easy," he reached into his pocket and withdrew a pocket knife. He stabbed it into the ice and slowly climbed out, Kate made it out fairly easily. They made the decent back down the mountain which was very easy since coming up was all uphill pretty much. Kate led the way as the darkness began to enclose them, Jon took out his flashlight and used it to see better.
Kate looked around and everywhere yellow eyes watched them. Just then wolves began emerging from the trees growling and دکھانا their teeth, Jon stopped and looked around at them all.
"Get behind me Kate and keep your back turned to me, don't look them in the eyes whatever آپ do!"
Out of nowhere one of the wolves snagged Kate and began to drag her away, "Jon help me!" She screamed. He turned and saw them dragging her away and they circled around him. Kate struggled and fought against the بھیڑیا holding her dragging her back into the forest but it was no use. It had been her fault she thought was why they came after them and now they were both going to die. probably.
Just then آگ کے, آگ erupted through the trees and Kate saw several wolves jump in surprise and run back. The بھیڑیا holding her dropped her and turned tail and ran. She looked back at the fleeing wolves and made way through the trees. Jon was standing there and in his hand was a red stick and from the tip erupted the flames, the آگ کے, آگ danced in his eyes as he swung it about and chased the remaining wolves away. Kate ran up to him.
"Kate!"
"I'm so sorry it was me the wolves were after," she said.
"It's okay Kate we are محفوظ now," کہا Jon he continued to wield the flaming stick before him.
"This is a flair and will take a while to go out but we may need it again! Don't worry Kate we will get back محفوظ and sound!"
"I'm not worried," she said, "I am with you!"
As quickly as they could they jogged the rest of the way down the mountain. Kate had never been happier to see the Bronco, they were محفوظ now! After they got to it Jon extinguished the flair in a nearby stream and then they got in. For awhile they sat in there breathing heavily. The wolves had followed them and Kate could see the yellow eyes surrounding them. Jon rolled down his window.
"Can't get us in here آپ fuckers! Eat this!" Jon کہا starting up the Bronco and holding the pedal to the floor, the engine roared and the wolves jumped back at the sound of it. He then backed it up and they began the journey back home. One بھیڑیا actually chased them for a bit but gave up, the Bronco was too fast and too intimidating for it.
"It has been a rough سال for the wolves up there, had a famine this winter I think and that is probably the reason they were trying to get us not because of آپ Kate," کہا Jon.
"When it comes down to hunger, they will take some serious risks to get food fortunately they are susceptible to آگ کے, آگ and ran from it, I always carry flairs with me and also a .45 گدھے کو, گدھی but have never had to use it before."
"Just glad we got out of there safely," کہا Kate. Jon reached over and stroked her head.
"I love آپ Kate," he leaned over and they shared a quick kiss and then for the rest of the drive ہوم Kate curled up and slept.
