The 67-year-old actress will receive the honorary 2017 Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 74
Annual Golden Globe Awards in January, an award given to stars for their “outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment,” the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has announced.
“It’s no surprise that the HFPA has chosen Meryl Streep as the recipient of the 2017 Cecil B. DeMille Award,” Lorenzo Soria, president of the HFPA, said.
“Meryl’s enthralling body of work across a diverse set of genres has made her a role model over the past 40 years, and she will continue to do so for generations to come. She has always taken roles with strong female leads, creating art by showing vulnerability and portraying truth on the big screen.”
The eight-time Golden Globe winner is among a slew of stars honored with the award including Denzel Washington, George Clooney, Woody Allen, Jodie Foster, Morgan Freeman, Robert De Niro, Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Warren Beatty, Anthony Hopkins, Robin Williams, Michael Douglas, Gene Hackman, Harrison Ford, Al Pacino and Barbra Streisand.
Streep has a record 29 Golden Globe nominations under her belt, and she’s won eight times, most recently for 2011’s
