A musical that you've seen but don't like all that much.

For me its Hairspray. Its Tracie Turnblad. She annoys the crap out of me.

She doesn't have a whole lot of depth. Her blind optimism/naivete paired with lack of perspective and/or reasoning ability is the OPPOSITE of "infectious" and "cute", which is what we are led to believe drives her charm/ability to "land" Link

But i don't buy it -_-
*
I understand now how she got Link. Link realized that he was dating a کتیا, کتيا and that Tracie was nice. But she's still a cheery git.

Yes, but in the movie, Link seemed مزید comfortable with Amber than with Tracy. I don't know if it was because of the poor chemistry between Zac Efron and Nikki Blonskey یا bad writing. At least in the 1988 film version, Link seemed to like Tracy a bit مزید than Amber.

Hairspray" is already a story with LARGE amount of emotion from racism, and teenage rebellion, and adding songs explodes those emotions, until they block out the characters who are having them, and all آپ get is دکھائیں stoppers. Meaning, songs that KEEP the story from moving on, and only repeat what the story has already told us, until after the song is over, because the songs are so GREAT. "Without Love" is the best example of this, "Good Morning Baltimore" being the worst example. During "Without Love" Tracy and Penny are rescued from their prisons, and taken on a car dive, to a record store. There seems to be no fear, among anyone singing, of what happens if they get caught, because the lyrics do not tell that OBVIOUS part of the story. I mean, Penny is running from her Mom, who tied Penny to her bed, and Tracy is on the run from the police, so آپ would think there would be مزید tension, than this relaxed, happy, song, that barely makes sense. The singers are lip sinking to a soundtrack, and I should not be able to tell the reader this. "Good Morning Baltimore" which takes Tracy to school, because what she singing is happening, sounds like your watching a silent film while listing to it from your boom box. (However,"Good Morning Baltimore" sounds MUCH better on Hairspray (2-Disc Collector's Edition Soundtrack) [Box set, Collector's Edition, Enhanced, Extra tracks, Soundtrack] the BEST thing about this musical is THAT soundtrack) "I Know Where I've Been" is the emotional, musical, and lyrical depth I was expecting out of "Hairspray." However there is NO reaction to the protesting going on during the song, and the story stops until the song is done. Still the song does make a good point about protesting, it's emotional NOT political. If every song had been done like "I Know Where I've Been" regardless of the song's individual genres, it could have been a phenomenal musical, but "Hairspray" the musical is too مقبول the way it is for it to fixed, at this point. Every musical needs some songs whose sole purpose is to اقدام the story forward, not be a showstopper. This book musical, has none.

Hairspray-Tracy was really annoying! Not only was she blindly optimistic but also doesn't have a grasp on reality. First of all, 90% people, especially the whites weren't ready for integration. سیکنڈ of all, some men, like Link, actually don't like plus-size girls. Additionally, Link and Tracy lacked chemistry. Link seemed to be comfortable with Amber. He looked awkward and uncomfortable with Tracy. Even thier kiss together was awkward. Penny/Seaweed were much مزید interesting than them! At least those two have chemistry.

Mamma Mia-I'm not too crazy about the story line. I think the whole "Which man is my father?" thing could have been solved easily if the daughter, her mom, her real dad, and the other two suitors, took a DNA test. The موسیقی was only the good part.

Chicago-nasty. I didn't get what the whole thing was about. All the characters were unlikeable.

Spring Awakening-OMG! I freaking hate this musical!! First of all, the موسیقی was terrible because it didn't fit well with the play's timeline. In the 1890s, people listened to classical موسیقی and ragtime; not stupid rock n' roll! C'mon! It's so unrealistic! Having the cast sing rock n' roll despite living in the 1890s is like having the Beauty and the Beast cast sing rap despite living in the mid-1700s. The songs also had forgettable melody and lyrics.
سیکنڈ of all, some characters were either annoying یا hard to sympathesize with.
The teenagers came off as perverts; instead of innocent children who are confused about puberty. The adults were also unbearable to watch. The play failed to give me an explanation on why the adults were too scared to tell their children about puberty and sex.
The sex scenes were also too much for me to watch because 1) they were gross. 2)they were raunchy. 3) they were not romantic at all. 4)they were gross.
I understand that the play's message was "Tell your children about sex and puberty before they do anything stupid," which is good. However, I know many teenage girls who knew about sex/puberty, but were still stupid enough to get pregnant out of wedlock anyway. Therefore, the play's aseop isn't still strong enough to give the parents a "wake up call."

I know right? When will Tracy learn that guys really don't like fat girls. Guys shun fat girls as much as girls shun really skinny boys

Mamma Mia. The storyline, in my opinion, is flimsy at best. And I may be shot for saying this, but I really don't like ABBA. I like Dancing Queen, Waterloo, and Mamma Mia, but that's really it.

CATS. I don't know why, but the موسیقی just never pulled me and I didn't like the story line.

And while I like the Phantom of the Opera, I can't watch it often because I can't stand Christine. Everytime she is onstage/screen I want to strangle her. I hate her so freakin' much. Everyone says the Phantom played with her, but I think she played him.

Rock of Ages - OMG! What a mess! سے طرف کی the time when I saw it, Constatine wasn't there, who is the only reason why I wanted to watch it. The storyline went downhill very fast, I didn't like the characters (except the owner of the bar, I forgot his name), and the sexual references made me cringe (I mean, one of the characters is named Regina, for god sake). And the songs, OMG the songs. They butchered great 80's songs. Sometimes, the actors sang off-key and some of the songs didn't fit the mood of some scenes (I like one یا two songs that they sang in the musical, but that's it). And they butchered "Don't Stop Believing" completely, I mean, there was a part that an actor sang in spanish. Overall, it was horrible

Cats: It was just strange. I also like musicals with dialogue because I couldn't always understand what the characters were singing.

South Pacific: There is really only one thing that bothers me with this show. Usually in a musical the fist scene that introduces the male lead is meant to get آپ to like him. The fist scene with Emille just made him seem boring. I did not see anything in common with Nellie. She seemed cute and sweet and he just seemed stuffy and boring.

-Rent- I'll probably get flack for this one but I can't stand this musical, the plot is stupid as are the characters I mean if someone was going to lower my rent I wouldn't wine about the fact that I have to pay it because its a artsy protest, pay your freakin' rent! and shut up!
