Yes. Storybrooke was quitet town when Regina was mayor.
Many of you are gonna say she was terrible, because she scared people. Well, i think powerful woman needs to show her power. She needs to tell the town who is the boss.

If some sweety girl was running Storybrooke, then this twon would have been a mess.

I feel like she did well. She built a new safer playground for the children; whilst her objective may have been to get Henry, she did probably help the kids too as they really didn't go to the old playground (seeing as it was run down and may have actually been a hazard) an now they have a new one. She seemed to keep the economy in a good state, they had electricity and plumbing and decent/quality houses, stores, and schools. Even after the curse broke she cared for the town in saving it from total destruction.

I agree. Loads of fans want Belle to be mayor but I think that's stupid. She's sometimes quite clever but she can't run a town. Things would get out of hand quite easily, like Albert causing more trouble or nobody sticking to the rules because she's an easy target. But with Regina as mayor things ran smoothly and there wasn't loads of people breaking the rules. I also love her office XD

I like Belle but I think she's too soft to be the mayor. She's sweet and smart but she lacks the manipulative, cunningness that most politicians have. I agree, I feel like people (like king George) would take advantage of her kindness and break rules. To be mayor (or any sort of leader) you do need to be able to instill some degree of fear.

Belle's not mayor material but in my opinion neither is Regina. She uses her status to make everyone fear her and even used her power to threaten Archie by saying if he didn't do what she wanted his umbrella would be the only thing he had. A good mayor doesn't abuse their power or use it to make people fear them, though mostly that's because they want to get re-elected, though that's never been a problem for Regina. I do like her but to me she was a really bad mayor.

Fair point, but I do think a person in power needs to instill some amount of fear to keep from getting walked all over and to keep the law upheld.

That is true, however Regina abuses that fear and tries to control everyone and make their lives miserable.
