One day, when Una came ہوم from school, her mother asked, "Did آپ have a good day, dear?" Una said, "Yes, Mother. Everyone loved my speech in my public speaking class." Mrs. Stratton said, "That's nice." After a pause, she said, "Today was the deadline to apply for college. Have آپ done that?" Una replied, "No, Mother." Mrs Stratton was enraged upon hearing this. "Why not? Una, آپ need to secure your future. How do آپ think I got my job as an accountant?!" Una said, "Mother, I don't want a boring ڈیسک job. I want to entertain people. I want to see my name in lights." Mrs. Stratton said, "I know it sounds glamorous, but there's a chance آپ won't make it. Now, it's not too late to apply to a community college. I want آپ to start looking tomorrow." Una said, "That won't do me any good. These days, college is not a guarantee that you'll get a job." Mrs. Stratton said, "But it is a guarantee that you'll find out who آپ are." Una said, "That's ridiculous! I know who I am!" Mrs. Stratton said, "Una, you're going to college, and that's that!" Una said, "Father would never force me to go to college." Mrs. Stratton said, "I wouldn't bring that up if I were you, young lady." Una said, "I wish Father was here instead of you!" She then ran to her bedroom, crying. She didn't notice that her remark made her mother cry. As Una cried, she looked at her father's picture on the wall. She said, "Father, I miss آپ so much. Why did آپ have to go? آپ loved me unconditionally. With mother, there is a condition." After her mother had gone to bed, Una packed up some essentials. She then went out the door. She took one last look at the house. She کہا to herself, "It's for the best. There's no one there who would miss me anyway." With that, she ran away.
