'Penny Dreadful' boss on finale: 'I’m very proud of it'

The looming presence of Mr. Talbot will no longer be so looming!

Brian Cox has been cast in the upcoming third season of

, joining the motley crew as Jared Talbot, the father of Ethan Chandler (Josh Hartnett). Talbot is described as a “powerful rancher…who has long been on the hunt for his son. Talbot will stop at nothing to bring Ethan back west to settle the score.”

Ethan has been running from his father since the start of the series, but his efforts gave out in last season’s finale, when he surrendered to Scotland Yard for his crimes and was carted off on a ship bound for America.

Cox’s Talbot will appear on the scene halfway through the season, and will pop up in at least two episodes.

is already shaking up this year with Patti LuPone joining as a series regular after guest starring last season as the Cut-Wife (though she’ll play a new role as a therapist who treats Eva Green’s Vanessa) and Wes Studi also joining as a mysterious new ally to Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton).

Other guest stars for the season include Shazad Latif as Dr. Jekyll, Christian Camargo, Sam Barnett, Jessica Barden, and Perdita Weeks.

is currently shooting in Dublin; season three premieres in 2016.
