Margaret has a Secret – Resurrection – Season 2 Episode 4 – “Old Scars”
Last week we saw a gruesome discovery down by the river, human bones. After further research by Maggie, she discovered that these bones may be proof that there were others who returned long before Jacob. This could change everything, but thanks to a decision made by Bellamy, the government has come in and confiscated the bones. What does this mean for Arcadia now and will we ever know the truth behind those bones?
We begin by seeing a man in a leg brace racing away from people, whose intentions seem to be to want to hang this man. The man is caught and hung. We see a young girl there which we find out is Margaret.
Lucy awakes and prepares herself for her day, dressing in black. Margaret joins her on the porch where she finds Lucy upset. It turns out that today is the day Jacob passed away, which explains her somber mood. She explains to Margaret that having him back is a miracle but it doesn’t stop how it felt to lose him. Margaret comes up with the idea of having a family dinner and turning this day into a day of celebration.
Bellamy is up early when Maggie comes in. She is still trying to figure out how those government thugs found out about the bones. We can tell Bellamy is having a hard time deceiving Maggie, because he knows he is the reason they found the bones.
Janine runs into Rachel at the store. Rachel explains to her that Tom is going to help her find another place to stay. Janine helps Rachel pick out some appropriate vitamins. She tells Rachel that she has made her peace with the situation. Rachel thanks Janine for letting her stay in her home when Rachel collapses. Janine calls for help.
Margaret meets Fred for breakfast at the diner. Fred wants to talk to her about the bones because they may have originally been found underneath the floor of the family factory. She tells Fred she has no idea how they would have gotten there. Margaret tells Fred about dinner and tells him he will be showing up.
Bellamy is looking over some old newspaper clippings when he sees an article about some workers killed at the Langston factory.
Rachel is at Maggie’s clinic being looked over and getting the baby checked. Tom and Janine are by her side. Maggie does an ultrasound on the baby and she notices something odd. Maggie explains that the baby is healthy but it seems the baby is growing twice as fast as a normal fetus. This is an interesting twist.
At the Langston’s, Jacob is helping his mother prepare the table for dinner, when he asks why Aunt Barbara is not coming to dinner. He wants to apologize to her and Lucy tries to explain that he has nothing to apologize for. Jacob is still upset that she won’t be invited to dinner. Margaret and Henry overhear their exchange.
Henry shows up at Barbara’s home and he invites her to dinner.  He explains that the returned have had an unbelievable way of healing past wounds and he wants this for Jacob.
Tom and Janine take Rachel back to their home so she can rest. Janine tells Tom that it is not necessary to find Rachel another place. She thinks it would be better for Rachel to stay with them. It seems Janine and Rachel are becoming closer.
Margaret talks with Lucy about Jacob and compares it to how she dealt with Fred when he met Barbara all those years ago. Lucy says something about that being ancient history and Margaret says it may be for her.  This intrigues me as she must not know that Henry is inviting Barbara to dinner. That should make for an interesting meal.
Bellamy finds Fred going through his files and tells Fred he may have made some progress on the bones. He thinks one of the bodies may belong to a man with a leg brace.  He found a picture of the guy but no name. He also noticed a man in the picture who looks like the returned man that showed up and disappeared a few days ago.  That guy though told Bellamy that he died in a fire, which means the man may have lied to him, but why? Fred tells Bellamy to keep him updated. When he leaves we find out that Fred still has the small bone he found at the factory.  I guess he is keeping that information to himself right now.
Maggie has arrived for dinner when Fred also shows up. It seems everyone is here when there is a knock on the door, Aunt Barbara has arrived. There is a great silence that comes over the room.  Jacob apologizes to Barbara and they reconnect. Margaret walks downstairs and is shocked as well to see Barbara and she doesn’t seem pleased.
Fred joins his mother in the kitchen and asks if she remembers a man named Arthur Holmes, who worked at the factory. She dismisses him and his notions about the bones. He changes the conversation to Barbara and he assures his mother that it is over between them.
Fred sees Maggie and she asks if he has learned anything about the bones.  He says that Bellamy mentioned something about Arthur Holmes. She tells Fred he should ask Margaret about him, because she came to visit him back when he was at the clinic and had mentioned that he worked at the factory when she was a kid. Fred says he will, but we know he has just realized that his mother is keeping something from him, because he already asked her about Holmes and she claimed to not know him.
Back at the Langston dinner table, the family is eating and visiting, but Fred looks preoccupied. Lucy and Margaret go to get more wine and Margaret explains how Henry had no reason to invite that woman to dinner. She reminds Lucy that Barbara is the reason Jacob fell into that water.
Back at the table Margaret seems to be instigating Barbara by bringing up the fact that Barbara is now with another man and other sarcastic remarks. Henry attempts to change the subject by talking about reopening the factory. This dinner doesn’t seem to be going too well.
Bellamy leaves Fred a message telling him he wants to talk to him about Arthur Holmes and he thinks it is leading to the factory. He is heading there now to see what he can find.
At dinner, Barbara and Fred are connecting with Maggie, when Lucy decides to break the moment by blaming Barbara for Jacob’s death. She explains that if she had ended that affair with Sam like Henry told her too, then her son would have lived that day. Barbara walks out and Fred goes after her. Barbara realizes that Fred is the one who found her body that day and she gives him a kiss before she leaves.
Bellamy shows up at the factory and begins looking around. He is met there by Fred who asks if he found anything. They suddenly hear a noise and realize a truck has rammed into the factory. They take him to Maggie and are shocked to find several of the returned ones at the clinic and they are all sick.
Margaret is tucking Jacob in and she tells him a story, and it seems the story is actually the truth about what happened back when Margaret was a young girl. Her story shares that she knows how to kill those that have returned.  It seems Maggie was right, this has happened before.
Be sure to tune in next week to see how this mystery unfolds and find out why the returned are getting sick.
