Here are three very cool things Tim Schafer did that I really appreciate. In no particular order...

1. He co-created Day of the Tentacle
I wasn't one of the lucky people who experienced Day of the Tentacle back when it was first released; I played it for my very first time in 1999, when I had just started secondary school. At that point in my life, I was old enough to be able to appreciate good character designs, well written dialogue, and clever concepts. Meanwhile, I was still a kid and liked light-hearted slapstick humour. Needless to say I loved this game as soon as I played it, and it remains my all-time favourite computer game today.

2. He introduced me to The Gone Jackals
Having been a پرستار of Tim Schafer (and classic LucasArts games in general), I was really happy when I finally got my hands on Full Throttle. سے طرف کی then, I was nearing the end of college. While I love Full Throttle as a game, what really blew me away was the soundtrack. Soon, I was searching for موسیقی سے طرف کی The Gone Jackals on Spotify and listening to any of their songs I could find. I didn't just love their songs that appeared in the game, I found myself enjoying a lot of their other موسیقی too! They soon became a favourite band of mine. I just wish I'd discovered them earlier, while they were still together!

3. He got me interested in character design & development, specifically for the games industry
This is actually something I do now. I've loved computer games since I was three years old and played James Pond on the Atari with one of those ridiculously bulky joysticks. Naturally, I would develop a liking towards the protagonists of the games I played, and sometimes the other characters too. However, while I already enjoyed creating my own cartoon characters, I'd never really thought about computer game characters being particularly impressive. Day of the Tentacle caught my attention with its cast of quirky characters, and other adventure games Tim Schafer worked on such as the Monkey Island series also helped me to realise that computer game characters could be pretty interesting if the creators gave them enough attention! I eventually went on to discover Psychonauts and Brütal Legend; games that began to focus less on the "adventure" side and had action elements. It wasn't just Tim Schafer's games that made me realise that characters from all genres of computer games could be well written and captivating, but along with other developers and designers, he certainly helped!

So there آپ go. Just a few things I appreciate about Tim Schafer.
