I made it to LA eventually. My cash supply was severely reduced due to transportation so I had to do a lot of odd jobs. In a few years I would have to either win the lottery, find a buried treasure یا اقدام somewhere other than America where a "fourteen سال old" could get a full time job. I loved LA. I missed دوستوں from years پہلے though. I wouldn't be able to handle LA for four یا five years. It was better in small doses. I felt emptier than I had in a long time.
The emails had slowed but not ceased. I usually took several days to respond but I checked almost every day. Two months after I had met the vampires, I saw one that scared me:

to the first and and didn't reply to the سیکنڈ before fleeing. A few days later I started to relax a bit. I checked my میل ای for the first time. In addition to a couple from the wolves there was one from Alice.
What part of "don't panic" is so hard to get? If آپ can't be reasonable I won't send آپ warnings. Nessie says hello.

For the first time, I noticed her signature "Rock Paper Scissors: I win" I laughed harder than I had in a while.
I still had میل ای contact with Jacob, Seth and sometimes Leah. Sam sent me one every other week. Quil and Embry sometimes included greetings in Jacob's emails. I replied to Leah مزید readily than the others but even with her I tried to keep my distance.
I was walking around in Nevada when I reentered the realm of the supernatural. I was alone and enjoying the fresh air. Then I was on the ground wishing I would die. I felt like I was being crushed and the voice of a man in an echo chamber sounded "Stop fighting this instant! Both of you! This has gotten out of hand" I didn't know who I was fighting but I had to obey "I will! I'll do anything!" I tried to scream "Please stop! I'll do anything!" The man's voice was no longer in the echo chamber "Who's there?" He demanded and the crushing stopped.
I didn't know how badly I was hurt but I knew I needed help. I couldn't tell any doctor what had happened. Except maybe...
