There were 2 of them, one was a stillborn but the other was perfectly healthy in every way. The pup was a male, they named him CJ. His color was gray like Humphrey but he inherited his mother's golden brown eyes. He was born toward the end of March. Kate grew very protective of CJ, sometimes she would not even let Humphrey near. It was in her instinct to be that way, some بھیڑیا fathers ate their pups. Humphrey usually stayed at the mouth of the cave whereas Kate and CJ stayed far in the back.

Food was now a problem and Kate knew that soon she would have to venture out and find something if Humphrey couldn't. CJ was getting old enough to be able to eat meat. Eve came and visited now and then and offered Kate helpful advice, she was so happy to be a grandmother now! Kate's protectiveness began to lighten up and she let Humphrey play around with CJ مزید often.
