Three and a half years later
"Kira will be caught tomorrow!" I said.
"Oh, please, it's the twenty-fifth time when آپ کہا this today," Volpes told me. At first, her accent was very strange for me. Nobody in this institution had an accent as purely British as hers. It still took me سے طرف کی surprise, most of all when she was annoyed: it was like she spoke twice as fast.
Despite my first دن here, we were now close friends. We were now reading ڈیٹس اپ on the Kira case every day. Near, my other close friend, did not want to know anything in advance, for some reason, so only Volpes and I knew what the press what saying in the newspapers and what the people were speculating. I was very interested in the Kira case because, to me it seemed like the greatest dare L has ever faced.
Volpes turned the computer off.
"What?!" I breathed. "I have to read it again!"
"Well, I have to take a break from hearing یا reading Kira's name and so should you!" she said. "Mello is driving me insane just as much as آپ are! I appreciate L and what he's doing, but I also want to improve my own skills! How will آپ ever get to work with L if all آپ do is read articles?"
"I thought about that," I replied, calmly.
Volpes didn't waste any time and quickly got out of the room. She clearly knew that she'd have to waste another گھنٹہ listening to my ramblings.
This time I really did have a plan, however. I only had to figure out a way to extract money from the bank account which my parents created many years ago, before they died. At the time, they planned to use that money for when I'd go to university, but this was not the case anymore.
I went downstairs, locking the door to my room. The only reason why I had a computer there was that very bank account. Roger Ruvie, the man who watched over this institution for Watari, allowed me to extract some money and buy a computer for my birthday.
That's when it struck me. My plan was complete. I knew how to help L with the investigation. Today was the 20th of December. My birthday was in four days! Roger usually allowed people to extract money from bank accounts (if they had any) on their birthdays. It did depend a bit on who was asking, but I didn't worry about that. I was one of the پسندیدہ in Wammy's House. I could ask Roger to give me some cash and I'd be able to fly to Japan!
I arrived in the main activity room, where people usually did stuff in order to impress Roger, thus impressing Watari, thus impressing L. I could see Volpes in a corner solving some gigantic puzzle. She, Near and I were the best at puzzles, but this was just a hobby to Volpes and Near, while I didn't really like solving puzzles for relaxation.
Looking at all those people, I figured that it was all quite funny. They were trying so hard to replace and surpass L! It was so much easier to just assist and help him! I felt a bit sorry for the orphans in Wammy's House, but I didn't really care that much. I had to prepare to convience Roger that I should be allowed to have the money.

"I am going to ask آپ for the last time," I said. "Will آپ come with me یا not?"
"Gorgeous," Volpes answered. "Then this is the last time I have to refuse this proposal."
"Volpes! آپ could meet L! And آپ could help him, too!"
"I want to meet L and I do want to help him too, but I won't break the rules like this, yet."
"Fine, have it your way. I'll be too late to see Roger if I continue arguing with you," I finished.
I knocked lightly on Roger's office's door, which was to my back until now.
"Come in," came Roger's voice.
I pushed the door to see him sitting at his desk, like as always.
"Oh," he said. "Hello, Blaire. What do آپ want to tell me?"
"Today is my birthday," I said.
"Happy birthday, then," he added quickly.
"Thank you. I'd like to ask آپ a favor, sir. I'd like some money, so I can buy something I really want... Obviously, I'd take it from my bank account, but I need an adult tp do it..."
Roger's eyes narrowed.
"And what would آپ like to buy?" he asked.
"A new موسیقی player," I lied automatically. "And a few other things."
"And you'd go to buy it yourself?"
"Well... Yes, sir... I won't do anything stupid. آپ can forget ever recommending me to L if I do anything irresponsible."
Roger paused. He obviously thought I wouldn't throw away a chance like that.
"Fine," he answered. "Just tell me how much money آپ need."
I couldn't hold back the smile which appeared on my face.
"Thank you, sir, thank آپ very much!" I muttered.
I won.

25th of December 2006
I woke up that morning hearing a knock on the door. I hastily opened to see Roger standing outside. He had a thick envelope in his right hand.
"Good morning, Blaire,' he said. "Sorry to wake آپ up. Here is the money آپ requested. I thought I should give it to آپ now. I'll be away for the rest of the دن and I don't want to carry such a sum of money with me یا have it lying in my office." He gave me a stern look. "I can't imagine what could cost آپ so much money. I hope آپ won't دکھائیں me that it was a mistake to trust you."
"I won't, sir," I answered. "Thank you, sir."
He nodded, gave me the envelope and left. I felt sorry for lying to Roger like that, but I considered my purpose to be worth it.
I don't know how I managed to persuade him to give me 1750 dollars... I don't know if he really did believe my excuses یا not, but he agreed, eventually. I probably will never understand why he accepted to give me the money. He probably thought I was trustworthy یا something like that, but he'll hate me, soon.
And, of course, I knew that he'd be away this day. He never spends Christmas at Wammy's House, so I planned something for this day, as well. I checked my watch: 9:12 AM. I quickly got dressed in a t-shirt and some jeans and waited.
At 9:20, I heard a knock on the door. It was Volpes.
"He left," she told me.
"Good," I answered. "Let's go."
We sneaked down the hallway, heading to Roger's office. Most people were downstairs, eating, so we didn't meet anybody on our way. It was very risky, anyway. We had no idea if he kept any records of L and Watari's current location, but we had to try. If I came to Japan without knowing where L was, then I'd be useless to him.
We reached the door. Strangely, it was not locked. I stopped and looked at Volpes, who was right behind me.
"It's not locked," I told her in a slightly panicked tone.
"You're lucky I paid attention to him," she said. "Let me explain آپ the whole thing I overheard yesterday. Again. Remember the woman who serves the food each day? Yesterday morning, I heard her talking to Roger. I told آپ that I thought it was unusual that he was there. Well, he was talking to that woman about the burial of some relative which was supposed to be sometime soon. He wanted to know if the coffin was ready یا something like that." Volpes smiled cunningly. "This means that he is distracted. If he was so interested in finding out about the details of the burial, it means that either that person was somebody he was close to, یا that the person is somebody important, most likely the first option. So, he ihas a lot to think about at this time. It's very likely that he just forgot. I doubt it's a trap of some sort. And it is highly unlikely for cameras to be installed in the office. Roger does official business there which sometimes concerns L himself. He wouldn't want any conversation یا other proof to be caught on tape."
I was still a bit worried.
"Are آپ sure we aren't risking too much?" I asked.
"Honestly, Blaire, It's much safer to just enter through the unlocked and unsupervised door than enter through the window, like آپ suggested," Volpes replied, laughing.
"I told you, Volpes, I suggested those solutions because I had no idea what plan B could be. I didn't seriously consider it," I said, frowning.
I opened the door to the office, ignoring all the doubts which came in my mind. No alarm sounded, as I half-expected. Volpes and I entered the office quickly, and immediately closing the door behind us. Everything was just as neatly-arranged as ever. I slowly advanced to the ڈیسک on which the computer stood, Volpes following right behind me.
Volpes turned the computer on and we were requested, as expected, a password. Volpes took out a CD, placed it in the CD-Drive which she had she just opened and then closed it. Then, to my surprise, she turned off the computer and then she immediately turned it back on.
"We don't have time," کہا Volpes. "Find your passport and write that statement. I can handle it here."
I obeyed and looked around in the many places where I thought official documents could be hidden. I was only looking for something which would have Roger's signature on it.
"I brought the statement here," I said, waving a piece of paper which I had with me all this time. All I need is his signature. Anyway, how did آپ find that CD?"
"I persuaded Matt to give it to me. Indeed, it is very useful. Oh!" she exclaimed, and I turned my head to look at her, thinking that she compromised Roger's computer. She looked up, again smiling cunningly and said: "I managed to log into this bloody typewriter."
I ran اگلے to her and looked at the computer screen. Indeed, she managed to get past Roger's password. We decided to check the میل ای first. Once again, we were very lucky. The میل ای address signed in automatically. All we had to do to find the میل ای main site was to تلاش a bit in the browser's history. Roger had quite a few new emails. The fourth one we checked was exactly what we were looking for.
"This is just too simple," Volpes said, barely restraining a victorious laughter. "Read this part," she continued as she pointed to a row in the middle. "But hurry, it's already 9:34..."
The میل ای was from a bank. It apologized for the delay of their payment system. It also کہا that the payment for the 11-day stay at the Hildon Hotel in Tokyo, Japan was performed on the 25th instead of the 24th, as it was planned. So, it told me absolutely everything I needed to know.
"Have آپ found your passport?" asked Volpes, suddenly. While I rummaged through all the drawers I could find, Volpes turned the computer off and took out the CD, making sure that she left everything as it was. I finally found the passport and a document which was signed سے طرف کی Roger. She copied his signature as accurately as she could, doing a good job. We cleaned the place of all possible evidence which could be immediately noticed and silently left the office.
I went downstairs, worrying that our absence might have been noticed, but Volpes کہا that she had to get something from her room and left me alone. Downstairs, I saw Near. He was playing with some toy robots. I sat down اگلے to him, and smiled kindly when he looked up at me.
"Merry Christmas," I told him.
"Merry Christmas to you, too," he کہا in an emotionless and almost automatic way. "Where have آپ been?"
"I overslept," I lied.
That moment I saw Volpes crossing the room. She had something in her hand, something I couldn't see from that distance.
She went to Mello and Matt and gave each of them an object She told them something and then she came to me. She handed me an origami horse, with a little bow around it's neck.
"Merry Christmas," she said. "This سال it's origami."
"Thanks," I کہا analyzing my gift. I forgot about Volpes's yearly Christmas gift. Each سال it was something different which she crafted herself. She was one of the few who even gave gifts for Christmas to someone at all. The only three people who received gifts from Volpes were Mello, Matt and me.
"It was simple for me to choose the model this time. The horse is the symbol of travel and freedom," Volpes said, winking.
"Thank you,"I repeated. This was obviously her way to wish me good luck in front of everybody. "It's really beautiful."
Volpes gave me another smile, gave Near a strange look and went towards Matt and Mello. I now noticed that Near stared at Volpes and at the origami horse for the whole time. It was a shame that Volpes disliked Near like that.
"Beautiful horse," کہا Near.
I didn't really expect him to comment. I didn't expect him to pay any attention to Volpes. He must've felt really left out.
"I can give آپ something too, if آپ want," I told him.
"It's all right," he said, returning to his robots. "I didn't expect her to give me anything. She liked Mello, Matt and آپ much مزید than she likes me."
I felt sorry for him. He had nobody except for me and I didn't even think of giving him anything.
"Near, I'm sorry. I promise I'll buy آپ something nice and give it to آپ when I come back."
"When آپ come back?" I managed to surprise him.
"Yes. Volpes didn't give me this horse just because I have some strange passion for horses یا origami. It’s a good luck charm."

26th of December 2006
I headed towards the tall wrought iron gates which led out of the grounds of Wammy's House. I looked behind myself at the old building. It was so strange that I was leaving like this. I had a feeling that I'd never come back here. Still, I wasn't going to return now. I turned my gaze back at the سٹریٹ, گلی which stretched ahead of me. Right now, I couldn't wait to tell Volpes that my mission was a success. The plan wasn't perfect, but to think that it would fail now was just the same thing with retreating. I must not have negative thoughts with a plan as risky as this one. It was going to be an extremely tiring day. It seemed almost endless, but I thought I'd certainly recover some hours of sleep in the plane.
I went outside the gates and looked for another سیکنڈ at the street. It was half-buried in snow, but I could still see it. I headed up the street, hoping that my walk in that freezing air was not going to be long. I was planning to follow the سٹریٹ, گلی until it reached some مزید populated part of Winchester and find some public phone. Then, I'd call a taxi using a number which I found on the phone book. I did exactly a planned, walking for about ten منٹ before reaching a public phone.
My nose and feet were half-frozen سے طرف کی the time I reached the airport.
From this point on, I had to wait for another two hours before I could embark my flight. At 6 o'clock I left Wammy's House, at half past six I was in the airport and now I had to deal with the passport control and all the other formalities.
After waiting for about five minutes, my turn at passport control came. I gave my passport and the fake statement to the policeman. The following twenty سیکنڈ were some of the longest in my life. The policeman looked at me once and then back at the document and passport. The picture was really old... What if the passport had expired? That didn't پار, صلیب my mind... I'd be in big trouble... How could I explain to Roger why I took the passport in the first place?
"All right, thank you," the policeman کہا in an accent horribly similar to Volpes's.
I smiled, took the passport and statement and proceeded to the waiting area. There, I stuffed those two life-saving items in the bag which held all my clothes which I managed to take. I didn't wait long before hearing a woman's voice:
"All passengers on the flight to Istanbul at 8:45 AM, please proceed to gate three for check-in."
The woman repeated this once more, but I heard it perfectly the first time. This was my flight. I couldn't find any direct flight, and the only option was a three-hour stop in Istanbul, but I didn't mind it much as long as I reached Japan سے طرف کی the end of the day.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tokyo, Japan
I placed my foot on the sidewalk outside the airport and finally felt like it was all worth it in the end.
I wasted 650 dollars on the flight. I was very lucky to find one this cheap, but I only had 1100 dollars left. I had to be very careful. I had enough for a night at a cheap hotel, but only fore one night. I called a taxi. ' مزید money thrown out of the window,' I thought, but I had no choice. The guy looked suspiciously at me for a couple of seconds, but he took me to the Hildon Hotel.
My دل was beating it's way out of my chest, and I felt like it would break my ribs until we reached the hotel. The cab took out my bag out of the car's تنے, ٹرنک for me and, after handing him the money, I entered the hotel.
I asked the receptionist for the room number, stating that I was some long lost relative who wanted to surprise her uncle. It did help that I knew Watari's real name.
"Room 712, floor 7," he said.
I barely restrained myself from hugging this naive yet extremely useful guy. I took the elevator to the seventh floor, feeling a gigantic void in the place where my stomach was supposed to be. I soon found room number 712. I put my hand forward, willing to knock, but I stopped in mid-air. This was ridiculous. I could break into Roger's office but I couldn't knock on a damn door. Using all the courage I had at my disposal, I knocked lightly. I waited 20 سیکنڈ before knocking again, louder. It was easier this time, but no answer again.
"Open up!" I called. "... I'm from Wammy's House, let me in, please."
No answer again. I started getting annoyed. How could've I came all the way from Winchester to Tokyo and I got stuck here?
"Open up right now!" I yelled. "I know who's in there, don't make me shout it out loud!"
"Who is keeping my place in the institution آپ mentioned?" asked a voice which I recognized as Watari's.
"Roger Ruvie! Now open up!"
I started kicking and punching the door. My fist stopped again in mid-air while trying to deliver the third مککا, عجیب الخلقت to the door when I saw it سوئنگ, جھول open. Watari stood in the doorway, watching me sternly.
"Good day," he said, "excuse me, but what is your business here?"
"I want to help L in his investigation!" I said. "I flew all the way from Winchester to here on my own, using my own money! Please, don't send me back!!"
"How did آپ find this location?" he asked, apparently ignoring me.
"A friend of mine helped me hack into Mr. Ruvie's computer," I said. I started feeling panicked. "Please, let me in..."
Watari almost frowned.
"All right," he concluded. "If I find that آپ do anything the least bit suspicious, I shall incarcerate you. Please, come in."
Relief invaded me. I was finally going to meet L, after this endless day...
Watari stepped back, closed the door behind me and took my bag, placing it delicately on a table. I got to glance around the fancy hotel room for a second. It was a large, well lit room, with old-style furniture built of a light brown wood and with pale yellow and golden fabric. Quite the typical type of expensive hotel penthouse, but it was still impressive. Watari showed me a doorway to my left and I walked through to see a dark room, lit only سے طرف کی the light of a monitor sitting directly on the wooden floor. There seemed to be some مزید furniture in the room, but I could barely see their sillhouettes. The only thing which I could clearly see except for the monitor was a young man.
"Who was it, Watari?" he asked. His voice was not unusual in any way. Was this L?
"It was a resident from Wammy's House," کہا Watari, startling me. I didn't realize that he came behind me.
"Oh, is that so?" کہا the young man, not seeming at all surprised. "What is that resident's name?"
After a short brake in which Watari didn't answer anything, I figured that I was supposed to answer that. I almost slapped my forehead at that moment. Obviously, Watari and L (I chose to assume that this was L, since Watari answered him so obediently) had no way of knowing my name.
"My name is Blaire", I answered, trying not to sound embarrassed.
At this, L turned around to look at me. I have never felt like I was being scanned سے طرف کی human eyes before. Once he turned around, I knew that this young man was almost surely L. His cold, analytic eyes gazed directly into mine. He suddenly got up from the position in which he was standing. I only noticed how strange and unusual it was once he stood normally: it was as if he was hugging his knees until now. Not that his position now was any مزید normal. He was hunching forward, his hands in the pockets of his old, oversized jeans. He headed towards me and Watari, but I didn't feel threatened at all, even if this man certainly did not seem normal.
"I am L," he said, still gazing in my eyes.
I could not think of anything to say. Now I could glance properly at him: I was not wrong, his eyes were pitch-black. His hair was messy and just as black as the eyes. He was wearing, besides the jeans, an equally large, white shirt. Despite all this, I didn't consider him bad-looking at all. Then, I figured that he was almost certainly waiting for me to state the reason why I was there.
"Umm..." I started. Very intelligent. "I am here to help آپ with the Kira investigation."
"Indeed," L said. "I hope آپ understand that we didn't request your help and we can send آپ back to the orphanage and take care to receive the appropriate punishment for coming here."
"Yes, I understand that, but I still wanted to come and I still want to stay. I read everything that was made public about the Kira case, so آپ don't have to bother telling me the basic details. I really believe I could be useful to the investigation." I hesitated. "After all, I am one of your four possible successors."
"But still, آپ didn't manage to get here entirely on your own," he said.
"What?" I asked, completely taken aback. What was he talking about?
"I overheard everything آپ told Watari earlier. I suppose آپ managed to get my current location from Roger Ruvie's computer, but آپ also کہا that آپ managed to hack into his computer with the help of a friend. Obviously another resident in the orphanage."
I frowned, but I was not really getting angry. I was just getting worried. It was impossible for me to even attempt to predict what L was going to do next.
"This does not mean that I am not impressed, though," L continued. "This is the first time this has ever happened to me. آپ shall stay here for a while. I will judge if آپ can actually help the case اقدام آگے in any way. If I think آپ are not capable of helping me with the investigation I shall send آپ back to Wammy's House." He turned to look at Watari with his intense stare. "Please, find a room for my new assistant."
How cheesy. I was his assistant. But, at least I got to stay.
28th of December 2006
The moment I woke up, I was surprised not to be in Wammy's House. Then, I remembered the دن before yesterday, and was, again, very proud of myself. My first دن there was not eventful. Things started moving again on the 28th, as I was going to find out. I got dressed and went straight to L's rooms. My room was also connected to his rooms, so there would be no trouble with me having to always knock and hope for L to answer the door. I walked to the dark room in which L always stood. This دن was no exception. He was sitting in his strange position on the bare floor.
"Good morning," I said.
That very second, his computer beeped. He pressed some button and a male voice said:
"L... I just got word from Japan that eight of our agents are dead. I tried contacting all 12 agents I sent over, just in case, and couldn't reach any of them."
The man couldn't see this, but L was most certainly shocked.
"Kira got them," continued the man. "There's no other explanation."
L paused a bit, obviously thinking hard, took the microphone and said:
"Please try to stay calm and listen to me. Was there anyone who knew the faces of all 12? یا anyone who had their تصاویر on file?"
The man also hesitated, then answered:
"Only myself, until yesterday..."
"Until yesterday?!"
"Yes. A request came in for the names and تصاویر of all the agents in Japan, so they could liaise with each other. I sent off the whole file as an e-mail attachment..."
"That's it!!" exclaimed L, startling me. "Kira was in contact with that agent! And he somehow managed to get a look at the file!! Who was the agent آپ sent it to?"
"The file was sent to all of the agents on this mission..."
"All of them..." muttered L after a short pause.
"I suddenly got multiple requests from agents saying they wanted to know who else is over there..." spoke the man through the computer. "So I assumed they all decided to do this together. I sent the file directly to the first four... And told them to send it on to the others. "
L stood up.
"So they all had the file..." he muttered. "If Kira can control what people do right before they die... He could have seen one agent's file, then made it so all of them got the file before he killed them." L continued thinking, but this time he did not say anything out loud.
"L," called the man on the computer, "I'm sorry, but the FBI is terminating its investigation in Japan." At this, L's surprise must've been just too great to hold back. "It's true that Kira has murdered مزید criminals in the U.S. than anywhere else. But ever since آپ pinpointed his location as the Kanto region around Tokyo, his victims have been concentrated in Japan. The Japanese victims are all criminals, but we've lost 12 good agents. These people are people with families, L. It's a big loss. And the decision to send them over there was made سے طرف کی me alone. I'm going to be questioned سے طرف کی congress over this. And, I'm a well known man... My face is public property. I don't want to be killed... The FBI is pulling out of Japan..." The man paused for about three seconds, then continued: "Hmph, here's a phone call from the Japanese Task Force already... I'm telling them the FBI was there at your request, L... Is that understood? Goodbye..."
He didn't even give L the chance to answer. L stood petrified, obviously bothered quite a lot سے طرف کی the situation. And who wouldn't be? Anyway, I knew about the FBI and the اقدام L made. He explained this carefully to me the دن before. I seemed to have brought bad luck to the investigation.
The اگلے day, L received a document from Watari. I remember him saying that it was another dying message from one of Kira's latest victims. Since the very moment I found out about the other similar messages criminals left before dying, I thought they were not really pointing to anything. That they were just there to misguide L, but he liked to consider everything, so he didn't exclude the possibility of a hidden message. And سے طرف کی that, I mean something other than the "L do آپ know gods of death" thing. Anyway, today, the sentence was completed. I managed to read the letter from behind L. "Love apples." 'L, do آپ know gods of death love apples?' It was all very strange, and ominous in some way. L was angered سے طرف کی this new message, however.
In a few days, L managed to think of a way to find out who was the agent contacted سے طرف کی Kira. We also changed our hotel. But, even if only a few days passed since the Japanese Police found out about the deaths of the agents, they were quickly getting very tense and resentful towards L. Sadly, this was not really that unexpected. But things started moving in a direction which I really did not like.
31st of December 2006
The moment I woke up that day, I had no idea that my presence in Japan would, again, be questioned. The first part of the دن was quiet, but as the sun went down, putting an end to another short period of sunlight typical to this time of the year, I figured I'll meet today some people which I never really wanted to meet. In the evening, I waited as the people investigating Kira with L were deciding whether to stay یا not. After a while, we found out that only six policemen had the guts to stay.
At some point, someone کہا L's name:
"There's L, which makes us seven. Add Watari, and we have eight, chief."
A pause, then L spoke:
"I have great faith in those of آپ who are brave and committed enough to remain."
Another break, then some other voice said:
"Uh... Just wait a minute. L کہا he has great faith in us, but... We don't have faith in L. We can't trust him!"
I gasped, but I wasn't loud enough for the policemen to hear me. L raised his right hand as if saying 'Please control yourself', but all I could think was how could those puny policemen doubt L?
"We've decided to risk our lives to get Kira, L," کہا a third voice. "You ought to know what that means. We're totally exposed."
"But آپ just order us around without ever دکھانا your face," whined the سیکنڈ voice.
"We'll go after Kira, L," کہا a fourth voice, "but we can't work with you."
"It's not just us," کہا voice #2. "The public doesn't trust آپ either. People are turning against you."
"What do آپ expect?!" asked voice #3 in a very bothering loud tone. "If people say it's L's fault that twelve FBI agents have died, who can deny it?"
"It's true that a number of criminal psychologists have suggested that L is Kira," کہا a fifth voice. How stupid. "In other words, they're saying that L has a تقسیم, الگ کریں personality... The FBI was brought in سے طرف کی L. And then all the FBI agents who have entered Japan were killed. L would have known the identities of those agents..."
This was just stupid and illogical. It was obvious that Kira couldn't have killed the agents before entering Japan. And, if آپ thought this way, then the FBI director was equally suspect, because he of all the people knew the names and faces of the agents. But, voice #2 interrupted my thoughts with a shout of his own mind. Why did all those people have to shout?
"That's not all!" he said. I smelled stupidity. "If آپ consider everything that's happened so far as being orchestrated سے طرف کی L, it all suddenly makes sense." I was right.
"The fact that he's never shown himself to anyone, and that he's a genius who can solve any crime, only makes that theory much مزید convincing."
A break.
"L..." saud voice #5, "if آپ want to work with us and help us catch Kira, how about coming here to the Task Force in person?"
"Yeah," shouted voice #3. I started disliking voice #3. "If آپ دکھائیں yourself to us and promise to be a part of the team, we'll trust you. We'll cooperate with you."
I looked at L, wondering what he was going to do. I wouldn't have agreed.
"As I کہا earlier, I have great faith in you," answered L. "Watari..."
"Yes," he answered.
Then, L wrote several messages to the detectives in the Task Force. I walked further away from L and his computer. I couldn't believe how much nerve those people. All they had to do to meet L was to get into a tantrum and it was all fixed. I had to fly all the way to the other side of the Earth using my own money and risking being thrown in the سٹریٹ, گلی and all they had to do was get into tantrums. Life is this fair.
After around fifteen minutes, L got away from the computer and went to face me.
"Get ready," he said, "the detectives will be coming here to meet us."
"No, they're coming here to meet you," I answered angrily. "And I wish it were that simple for me to come here and meet you, آپ know. I don't think those people are any good. All they do is fuss."
"You should try to put yourself in their shoes," he answered simply. "I only accepted because I need the police on my side, anyway."
"Whatever," I said, walking back into the room where L was previously sitting.
I sat on an کرسی, آرام کرسی a bit further away from the group of sofas and other armchairs sitting in the middle of the room around a coffee table. L stood behind in the first room. I waited for about 20 منٹ until I heard knocks on the door. I almost feel asleep in the meanwhile.
"Please enter," I heard L say. "I've been awaiting you." And who hasn't? After I heard the door open, L continued: "I'm L." He didn't bother introducing himself to me.
"I'm Detective-Super-Intendent Yagami of the NPA," کہا the voice which I recognized as Voice #5.
"I'm Matsuda," کہا Voice #1.
"I'm Aizawa," کہا Voice #2.
"I'm Ukita," کہا Voice #4.
"I'm Mogi," کہا a voice which I didn't recognize.
And they stopped here. Thank goodness that they didn't bring Voice #3 with them.
"Bang!" exclaimed L's voice, suddenly. I myself turned around to try to see what was going on, but I was unsuccessful.
"Huh?!" exclaimed Matsuda. "This is your idea of a joke?!"
"If I was Kira, you'd be dead... Yagami-san," کہا L. "All Kira needs to murder someone is knowledge of their name and face. آپ ought to know that سے طرف کی now... Common sense says آپ can't kill anybody just سے طرف کی knowing their name and face. But the fact is, criminals are dropping dead one after the other on the basis of that information alone. That is how he murders people - we have no choice but to believe it. We're the only ones left who are willing to risk our lives for this. So let's be careful about telling people our names. Let's value our lives."
A pause.
"He needs to know names?" I barely managed to hear Matsuda ask. "I knew about faces, but did anyone ever mention names?"
"Every major criminal whose name is unknown, یا whose name was reported erroneously, remains alive," کہا Yagami. "This was brought up in Task Force meetings..." I laughed quietly. Those people must've been total idiots.
"But if that's the only basis..." tried Matsuda to say before being interrupted سے طرف کی L.
"Rather than standing around talking, how about we اقدام over there? Please turn off your cell phones , laptops and any other electronic equipment and put it on that میز, جدول first."
Then, L walked into the room, not waiting in the doorway for the detectives. He quickly looked at me in his way to his armchair. His look almost seemed to be telling me 'be patient with them'. How annoying.
"...You think we might have our cell phones on talk mode so someone outside could monitor our conversation...?" asked the one named Aizawa.
"Just do as he says, Aizawa," کہا Yagami.
"We all knew he was cautious, but this makes me wonder if he really trust us یا not," کہا Matsuda.
"It's not that," کہا L, sitting down on his کرسی, آرام کرسی like as always. "I just can't stand it when someone's cell phone rings while I'm talking. Two مزید things. Don't write down anything I say here. Just keep it in your heads. And don't call me "L" anymore. Please always call me "Ryuzaki" from now on. Both for safety's sake."
The detectives paused a bit before coming in. They probably stared in awe at L's position. As they came in, some of them looked at me, a bit surprised. They certainly didn't expect somebody else to be there, most of all someone like me. I was ready for their سوالات and shouts, anyway. But, all they did was to walk around L's کرسی, آرام کرسی and look around.
"Now all of you, sit down," L told them. That was probably the moment when they figured that they were just staring around, so they did as instructed.
"I just had an idea," کہا one of the detectives. I deduced that, since his voice had just stated this earlier, he was Matsuda. "If we know that Kira needs to know people's names and faces, then can't we tell the media to omit those from their crime coverage? That could the number of victims."
"... If we do that, ordinary people will be killed."
"Ordinary people?" asked Ukita.
"Why' that?" asked Aizawa.
"Kira is childish and hates losing," کہا L, mixing the چائے and sugar in his cup. "You guessed it... I'm also childish and hate losing... That's how I know..."
"L... No, Ryuzaki. Could آپ explain that a little مزید clearly?" asked Yagami.
Urgh... I stopped paying attention after that. Even if sometimes someone would peek at me, I'd stare at them until they looked back at Ryuzaki. Anyway, I already knew everything L was telling them right now. I now knew how annoying it was to have to explain something this long over and over. For some reason, I looked back at L's back, again paying attention, when he concluded سے طرف کی saying:
"...So, any questions?"
The detectives were not paying attention. They didn't hear L's سوال and just spoke among themselves. How disrespectful. And they were supposed to be the adults. Then, Matsuda turned, as if he had just realized that this was the moment he was waiting for until now.
"Umm... I wanted to ask something, L. Who is that girl behind you?"
"She is here to learn, but also to help. آپ may all fell free to discuss with her as if you're discussing with me. Do not be fooled سے طرف کی her age."
All the detectives looked یا tried to look at me. I gave them all a fierce stare, trying to appear very determined. I don't know what impression I made on them, though... Anyway, I felt proud of myself that L told those people to think so highly of me. I couldn't wait to tell Volpes about this.
"I also have a سوال for you, Ryuzaki," کہا Yagami. "Earlier آپ کہا آپ hate losing. سے طرف کی دکھانا your face to us, aren't آپ admitting that Kira defeated you?"
"Yes. دکھانا myself, and the loss of those FBI agents' lives, means I lost. But... I'll win in the end." I smiled as I heard L say that. This finally sounded just like the L I used to envision. "Like yourselves, this is the first time I've staked my life on a contest. Let' دکھائیں him, those of us who are risking our lives that the good guys always win."
A pause, before everybody exclaimed their approval of the idea. Very enthusiastic people...
"Great," کہا L, after getting up from his کرسی, آرام کرسی and heading out of the room. "So first, to be sure that none of آپ is Kira, I'd like to speak to each of آپ alone-"
"Ryuzaki's right," کہا Yagami. "If Kira was in the Task Force to start with, it stands to reason he'd remain in it now."
"And if he remained, he's seen Ryuzaki's face..." کہا Matsuda while L was heading to the gigantic windows located in the first room. I stood behind, of course. I had to listen to all the ramblings of some puny, second-hand detectives.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
5th of January 2007
L and the detectives met a few times مزید after that first night, but they didn't discuss anything interesting enough for me to remember. On the 5th of January, we were all supposed to see the deaths of the FBI agents caught on tape in order to find مزید clues. We had changed the hotel since the first meeting, as well.
"That's all of the security camera footage we managed to find دکھانا the FBI agents. We're lucky we found this much," کہا Aizawa once he was finally done piling up the footage he found. "So we have three of them on camera when they had the دل attacks: Knick Staek was in a Ginza Departament Store, Raye Penber was on a platform on the Yamamote line, and Nikola Nasberg was in an Ikebukuro bank. As for the others, the most we could find was where they're leaving their hotels."
He کہا all that while the three ویڈیوز were on. L was already carefully watching the videos, so I decided to do the same. After he watched the ویڈیوز a bit, he said:
"Can آپ play back the parts where Raye Penber goes through the turnstile, where he gets on the train and where he dies? I'd like to see those again, اگلے to each other."
Although it was obvious that Yagami and his other detectives were unsure why L requested this, much like I was, to be honest, they obeyed. L watched the footage closely, and, again, thought out loud. I tried to pay as much attention to him as possible, but I was, at some point, only watching the footage, ignoring everything around me. What could possibly be out of the ordinary here?
"What happened to the envelope?" L suddenly asked, startling me and, again, gaining my full attention. "At the turnstile and on the platform, he's holding something like a manila envelope."
"An envelope?" asked Aizawa, stating my thoughts out loud.
Yeah, now that I thought back about it, I saw it, but I didn't notice it missing in the footage with Penber dying.
"Hey! You're right," کہا Aizawa. "He's definitely holding an envelope! He's got it over here, too. I can't believe آپ noticed that, Ryuzaki."
"Why wouldn't he be able to notice that?" I asked, in a tone as innocent as I could fake. That last phrase got on my nerves.
Aizawa gave me a quick glance which reflected annoyance, but neither he nor I answered to each other's dare.
"There was nothing like an envelope found on his body, though..." کہا Yagami.
"Which means that he left it on the train," I said, L nodding slightly. "No, Penber only got the file at 15:21, on the train. He couldn't have had it before he boarded," replied L, wiping the floor with Matsuda's theory.
"Oh, yeah..." muttered Matsuda.
"Get every station on the Yamamote line to give آپ all the footage they have for December 27," L told Aizawa.
"Uh, okay," replied the latter.
"And... This last image of Raye Penber... To me it looks like he's desperately trying to look into the train..." کہا L.
I was thinking of that as well, earlier, but I didn't think it would've made any sense until now.
"...And if he is, that's a clue?" asked Yagami.
"What if Kira was in there?" I took the liberty of answering, but, apparently, L approved of my answer.
"You... Couldn't be..." muttered Yagami, looking at me and back at L.
"I agree, it isn't likely," continued L. "If Kira can murder from afar, why would he bother going there...? Still, he might have figured that's what we'd think, and taken the risk of coming out in the open. Well, even if Kira was on this train, I'm sure he wouldn't let himself be captured on a security camera with the envelope... A public place like this, he would have checked the camera locations in advance and used the blind spots, if any. If not, he'd hide behind someone. But if he is captured on camera with it, we could call him in as a material witness."
The investigation seemed to be moving a bit, now. After a while, L and the detectives decided to investigate Raye Penber further. L was assigning each of the detectives what to investigate when Watari told him that someone had 'interesting information'. L found out that Naomi Misora, a former FBI agent who happened to be Raye Penber's fiancee had gone missing. Everything seemed to be pointing to Raye Penber, and L knew this. So, he decided to place cameras and bugs in the houses of those who Raye Penber was probing before December 19. The NPA employees Penber was tracing were Deputy Director-General Kitamura and his family and, ironically, Detective Superintendent Yagami and his family.
In my opinion, Yagami took the news well. He did sweat a lot, but it was quite a tense situation for him, I'm sure. Other than shouting a bit at Matsuda, he kept calm. L also کہا that only himself, Yagami and me would be watching the surveillance. Not that it lasted for long. Yagami Jr. did a lot of strange things, but I guess they weren't that abnormal after all. Half a week later, L decided to stop the surveillance on the Yagami family.
But this certainly wasn't the boldest اقدام L decided to make on this investigation. اگلے thing I knew, he planned to go to یونیورسٹی with Light Yagami. And so he did. It was a time in which all I had to do was sit around in a hotel listening to the detectives on the investigation talk. They sometimes asked me things which were obviously meant to discover if I had some other role other than 'L's apprentice'. I was bored, so all I did was to try my best to confuse them even more. They were quite entertaining at some point, but obviously, I had quite an enjoyable time compared to Yagami's.
Just two days after L started going to یونیورسٹی with Light, he had a دل attack. We all thought it was Kira, at first, but we were wrong. And thank goodness, too, because Yagami came back into action in force when the سیکنڈ Kira got into the stage. When that TV station, Sakura TV was broadcasting Kira's message and we had no way to interfere, Yagami solved it all for us. I started thinking that he was not really that dim-witted after all, and that he did put everything he had in the investigation. But other problems arose after we managed to silence Sakura TV (temporarily).
After the police refused to cooperate with the سیکنڈ Kira, we had to think of a way to escape the killing of L and of the Director-General of the NPA. I shall be honest, when I found out that L could die سے طرف کی the hands of Kira, I... well, I didn't react very well. Yagami managed to control himself better than I did. Of course, we viewed Tape #4 before the rest of the world, but it was just as embarrassing to have all those men looking at me shout that there had to be some way around this. L was my idol, after all... Of course I cared if he lived یا if he died...
Then, I found out that Light Yagami was going to help us with catching the سیکنڈ Kira, at first not knowing that there might be a سیکنڈ Kira. I was, again, annoyed that yet another person managed to meet L without the slightest effort, but I کہا nothing. Yet, my decision to keep silent about this was hard to keep when I finally saw Light. My first thought of him was that, even if he certainly was trying hard not to دکھائیں it, it was as if he was looking down on us. As if he thought himself to be our ultimate superior. I hated him almost instantly, but he wasn't the only one who could act. Although I disliked lying, I found it necessary this time.
But it was very entertaining that L was testing this guy first. Although, at some point, I could swear that he gave L a hateful stare, he answered simply that there might be مزید than one person with Kira's powers. He obviously figured it out. We couldn't act like there was only one Kira, now. After Light's response, L started telling everybody of his plan to fake a message to the سیکنڈ Kira from the real Kira. L also told Light to give me the message once he's done composing it. I was supposed to check it first before giving my approval and handing it to L. I suppose this meant that L had great trust in me, so I felt quite happy upon hearing this.
Light's message was quite good, but I found that it encouraged Kira #2 to kill L a bit too much, and this was exactly what I had told L. He agreed with me, while Light laughed innocently and کہا that it was all to make it مزید convincing. Yeah, right. I couldn't buy anything this guy said.
Anyway, soon that دن the broadcast started. And it was effective, too. Only two days later we got our response from the سیکنڈ Kira. This proved that, indeed, there were two Kiras. But this سیکنڈ one must've been an imbecile. He was extremely obedient and also extremely dedicated to the real Kira.
When the message spoke of the eyes, I was confused, just like everybody, but when L fell out of his chair at the mention of shinigami, I forgot any theories I might have had about eyes. I have never even imagined L in such a situation, and I was angry that there was no moment now when I could ask him about the meaning of his scare. There were always at least two detectives around us. I went to L to help him get up. He then put the chair back in horizontal position, still explaining the others a theory of his. I am ashamed to say that I was not paying attention to what L کہا but to whether he was hurt یا not. یا maybe even if he was still scared. I did not like دکھانا Light Yagami any weakness.
At this moment, I was happy that none of the detectives even knew my alias. Nobody knew me as 'Blaire' there because I did not introduce myself, and nor did L introduce me. It was as if he wanted to keep me a mystery for those people. I was all right with this. It was annoying when I was called 'the Apprentice', 'that girl' یا 'L's Girl', but it didn't really matter.
The اگلے thing which led me to believe that the سیکنڈ Kira is a complete idiot was the اگلے thing we got from him: a journal entry. That's also when I started thinking that the سیکنڈ Kira was female. Not that it mattered to me, much, it was just another detail. Our اگلے اقدام was to just inspect the places mentioned in the entry on the specified dates. I, like L, didn't have to go anywhere, and I'm thankful for that. I didn't like the prospect of looking for Kira on the street, it was quite creepy.
The اگلے (and last) thing which we received from the سیکنڈ Kira was yet another video. And, just like L said, آپ could sense that she was influenced, most likely سے طرف کی the original Kira. It might have been just an impression, but I thought that I saw a bit of panic on Light's face upon hearing this theory. But, the discussion did not go in the direction I expected.
"Yes... Light-kun isn't Kira..." started L. I thought he was lying. "Or rather, I don't want Light-kun to be Kira. Because Light-kun is my first-ever friend."
...
It was not very pleasant to hear this. I decided to consider this yet another lie and never think of this again.
But the اگلے دن was much مزید pleasant to me. After L went again to the To-Oh University, he called and told us who stood behind at the headquarters that the سیکنڈ Kira has been captured. A girl was indeed brought in our personal custody, and for a moment I was kid of scared سے طرف کی the way the girl was being held. Turns out her name was Misa Amane, some model which was a bit famous here in Japan. Never heard of her. She was quite troublesome, anyway. Three days later, she requested being killed, but she did not confess anything. Then, she tarted playing dumb. The problem is that she was very convincing.
The very اگلے day, Light Yagami comes and says that he might be Kira. Only might... He proposes being confined, and L accepted this. Then, in anger, Yagami also requests being confined. His wish is granted, also. A week later, Light Yagami starts wanting back out. Now, he insisted that he could not be Kira. But it didn't matter, now. Kira's killings have stopped since Light Yagami was confined. It was all pointing to Amane and Yagami.
But, sadly, things changed again shortly: Kira started killing again and the other detectives were getting angry and suspicious about the incarceration of the Yagami men. We soon had to end it all. L thought of putting Light and Amane to one مزید test before ending their confinements. He asked detective-super-intendent Yagami to put up an act to see if in a highly pressing situation, Kira would crack. That did not work either. Kira didn't emerge, and we could only keep Amane and Light under a gentler care. But they'd have to help us with the case. However, I had no idea how Misa could help us...

23rd of July 2007
We were all gathered in L's hotel room. This gathering was supposed to clear the confusion regarding the role of Amane and Light Yagami in this investigation. I bet some of the detectives in there were waiting for this for a horribly long time... But I myself was getting مزید and مزید confused at the sight of Yagami and L being chained together. I am quite certain that I was not the only one not understanding this scene.
"Is this really necessary, Ryuzaki...?" asked Light, raising his left hand, the one wearing the handcuff.
"I'm not doing this because I want to," replied L.
"Huh...? This is what آپ meant سے طرف کی being together 24 hours a day?" asked Amane.
I was sitting a bit further away from L, Light and Misa until now. I got away from Matsuda, Soichiro Yagami and Aizawa and quietly went behind Misa's back closer to the scene. She did not hear یا notice me.
"Two guys chained together is gross..." کہا Misa, with a dumb expression. "This is what you're into? آپ were with Light at school, too..."
"I'm not doing this because I want to," repeated L.
"Yes, Amane," I کہا suddenly, startling her. "How many times should Ryuzaki repeat this?"
Misa stepped a bit further from me, with her hands at the level of her face, as if دکھانا that she meant no harm. She then said:
"But Light belongs to me... And if you're always together, then when am I supposed to go on dates with Light?"
"The dates will naturally be with the four of us..." replied L.
"Wha?!!" exclaimed Amane. "Four of us?"
"Yes. Blaire will be attending." My cover was blown, now. Everybody will deduce that I am Blaire.
"Blaire?" asked Matsuda.
Gee... "Somebody, please tell him,' I thought.
"Yes, Blaire," کہا L. "The one who has been assisting me since before آپ joined me. She shall assist because I want her to see the reactions Misa Amane and Light-kun will have in real life and give me a سیکنڈ opinion regarding their relationship. Whether they communicate secretly, whether they have some coded body language, some other sort of codes یا anything which would allow the two to communicate secretly. I do not expect her to decode any of it just yet, I just want her to see everything with her own eyes and maybe give me some مزید ideas based on her observations."
I think I blushed hearing this. I was really happy that of all the people here, L thought I was his best choice for this assignment.
"You're saying we have to kiss in front of you?" argued Amane.
"I didn't say آپ have to do anything. But Blaire and I will be watching..."
"Huh? What the hell?! I knew it! آپ are a pervert! Really, if you're trying to have some double date, just say it!"
"Amane, I will pretend to think that آپ did not hear what Ryuzaki had just کہا about my role here, not that آپ did not understand a word of it," I said, threateningly.
"Light-kun, please shut Misa-san up," L told Light.
"Misa, don't be so difficult," کہا Light. "You were definitely the one who sent those videos. Be grateful that you're allowed this much freedom."
"Hey, what are آپ saying, Light?" asked Misa, almost sadly. "I'm your girlfriend, right? آپ don't trust your lover?"
"Girlfriend...? All I know is that آپ say آپ fell in love at first sight and now آپ won't leave me alone..."
"Then آپ took advantage of that and kissed me...?!" shouted Misa, trying to kick and مککا, عجیب الخلقت Light's chest, but not managing to even make the air around him shudder a bit. I snickered. "You think I'm funny?" Misa asked me angrily, but only managing to make me laugh properly.
"About this love at first sight..." started L, "it was in Aoyama on May 22nd, correct?"
"Yes," answered Misa, suddenly calm again. L looked at the ceiling then back at Misa.
"Why did آپ go to Aoyama that day?" he asked. "What were آپ wearing?"
"How many times do I have to tell you? I just went there because I felt like it. How should I be able to remember exactly what clothes I was wearing? I'm not allowed to hang in Aoyama without a reason?"
"So آپ went to Aoyama and when آپ got ہوم آپ were in love with Light-kun and knew his name?" L concluded, moving his head closer to Amane's.
"Yes."
"But آپ don't know how آپ learned his name." L moved closer to Amane.
"That's right."
Then, L went straight to the point and asked Amane what her reaction would be if she found out that Light was Kira. Surprisingly, she hugged Light's right arm lovingly and کہا that she'd love him even مزید if he was Kira. Okay, so just a few منٹ پہلے he was kicking and punching him which, even though was equal to the strength of a short blow of the wind, was a somewhat hostile action. Now she was hugging him. Mood swings must not be something that unusual for her, though...
But, for the first time, I was happy that Aizawa interfered with the 'interrogation'. After L informed Amane of her luxury stay at our headquarters and of Matsuda/Matsui being her manager, she started whining. So, thank goodness, Aizawa couldn't stand it any longer and practically exploded. Within moments he was dragging Amane to her room. It was hilarious.
Then, with Misa gone, L got back to serious business. He made Light an offer which I could've sworn he would accept: actually take advantage of Amane's feelings and get مزید info about the سیکنڈ Kira. But Light refused... and this time I could really sense no lie behind his refusal. It was strange... It was as if, after his confinement, Light changed drastically. He was entirely different. He was actually quite pleasant now. And as strange as I found the fact that I now had no problem with him, he asked something which was bothering me for quite some time: whether we could avoid all this moving around hotels all the time.
L's answer was almost a total surprise for me. I remember hearing something about a construction short after the Task Force shrunk and joined L, but I never thought it was something like this... یا that it was something at all. The building was surprisingly large and, as L described it, very well equipped. I started looking آگے to moving there...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
2nd of August 2007
This was my personal brand of confinement. At least for myself. I felt like I had less freedom while sitting on the sofa اگلے to Misa than when I accidentally locked myself in a bathroom when I was five. I was supposed to pay great attention to Misa and Light, but Light did not seem to really care that he was on a تاریخ with Misa and Misa did not want to start a conversation. And honestly, I believed (and still do) that she was just too dim-witted to have even understood the concept of a code. Anyway, I still paid all the attention I had to the two.
"Umm... This doesn't feel like a تاریخ at all..." whined Misa.
"Pay no attention to us," کہا L, eating a strawberry. "By the way, will آپ be eating that cake?"
"... Sweets are fattening. No thanks..."
"If آپ use your head, آپ can eat sweets without gainig any weight though..."
"Ah! You're making fun of me again!"
"Ryuzaki, may I say something?" I asked.
"Yes, of course," کہا L before Misa had the chance to say another stupidity.
"I hate having to sit اگلے to her. It took her a this atrocious long time to figure out that آپ were making fun about her intelligence, I believe she is not able to learn and reproduce any complex code."
"Hey!!!" Misa shouted. All these 'hey's probably meant that she thought we did not mean her to hear those words but that she still was cunning enough to hear them. "I'll give آپ the cake and ignore your girlfriend. So, can Light and I be alone?"
"Even if you're alone, I'll be watching on the monitors, so it won't make any difference."
"Why are آپ such a pervert?!" Shouted Amane. "Stop these sick hobbies of yours!"
"You may call me whatever آپ wish, but I'm taking your cake," replied L, making me snicker.
"Fine then, when Light and I are alone, I'll close the curtains and turn off the lights." Misa کہا this with such an atrociously idiotic and dumb smile on her sorry face that it was literally painful to watch. She probably considered herself smart to have thought of this.
"There are infrared cameras too," L replied, glancing at her with the same obvious difficulty as I did.
"Then we'll get under the covers. Right, Light?"
"Whatever," Light dismissed her. "We have this great facility now, yet آپ don't seem very into it, Ryuzaki."
"Whatever...?" mumbled Amane as I snickered. "Meanie..."
"Into it...?" کہا L lazily. "Not really... I'm actually kind of depressed."
"Depressed?" کہا Light and I in the same time. After glancing at each other, we looked back at L.
"Yes... For the longest time, I thought آپ were Kira. I'm a little shocked that I was wrong... Well, I still suspect you, thus the handcuffs... But Kira could control people's actions... Meaning Kira controlled آپ to make me think that آپ were Kira...Light-kun and Misa-san were both controlled سے طرف کی Kira... Everything fits in my mind if I assume that to be fact... The only thing I don't understand is why the two of آپ weren't killed... If آپ were being controlled and killed people without being conscious of it, then آپ are nothing مزید than a victim... I have to start the investigation over from scratch... We're back to the beginning. If Kira took interest in آپ because آپ had access to police information and then controlled آپ to make آپ a suspect in my eyes... That's a pretty big shock to me... Very frustrating..."
"Ryuzaki..." started Light, "with that line of thinking, it means that while we were controlled, Misa and I were Kiras..."
"Yes, I don't think there's any mistake there," replied L. "You're both Kiras. The way I see it, when آپ were in confinement, آپ were Kira. And then the killings stopped... Up until then, it makes sense that آپ were Kira, but after two weeks, the killings resumed... Based on that, my thinking is that Kira's power passes from person to person. The سیکنڈ Kira's video even mentioned that the power could be shared..."
"That's an interesting theory, but if that is the case, then catching Kira will be difficult," کہا Light.
"Yes... That's why I'm depressed..." confirmed L. "You control someone and use them to kill the criminals, then when that person is caught, آپ transfer the power to someone else, and the first person loses all their memories... This would make the capture impossible..."
"But that's not definite yet," replied Light. "There are too many things that we don't understand about Kira right now. Come on, دکھائیں some energy." He کہا that last part in such a purely friendly way it made me wonder whether it was possible to dislike him right now.
"Energy...?" half-asked L. "I'm just not feeling it... Why even bother...?" A pause, then L continued: "Trying hard to go after him just puts us in danger.. don't آپ agree? I've thought I was going to die so many times already..."
"Ryuzaki..." کہا Light, getting up from the sofa, looking slightly annoyed.
He then did something for which I will hate him forever. He punched L straight in the face. His مککا, عجیب الخلقت was not like Misa's. He made L fly across the room, but pulling Light after him in the same time because of the handcuffs. L came to a halt after crashing in the opposite دیوار head-on. Misa stood dumbstruck, her mouth the size of a crater. I myself was taken aback, but I tried my best to let it surface. After all this, L managed to return into sitting position and say:
"Ouch."
"Don't be ridiculous!" shouted Light. "Just because I'm not the real Kira... Just because آپ were wrong, آپ want to give up?! آپ gonna sulk like a baby?!"
"I may have worded it poorly, but... I'm saying that continuing isn't going to get us anywhere good, so maybe we should stop..." replied L, wiping his face.
"What are آپ talking about?" asked Light, almost shouting again. "Unless we chase him, there's no way we'll catch Kira. Who's the one who swore to send Kira to his execution?!" Light grabbed L سے طرف کی his oversized white شرٹ, قمیض and continued his speech, this time shouting properly. "The police, the FBI agents, TV announcers, how many innocent lives do آپ think have been victimized?! You're the one who put Misa and me in confinement!!"
"I understand that..." کہا L, not struggling. "...But whatever the reason... Once is once!" He کہا that last part few times louder than the rest, but that's not what startled me. What startled me was that he کہا it while applying a painful-looking kick with his left leg on Light's chin. Once again, the two flew one after another through the room. Misa seemed to be ready to faint. "It's not just my reasoning that was wrong..." L continued.
"It's the fact that the case can't be solved as 'Light Yagami is Kira and Misa Amane is the سیکنڈ Kira." So I'm a little disappointed. I'm human - that's not allowed?"
"No it's not," کہا Light. I felt like kicking him myself right now. I myself was disappointed that the tables turned in Light's total favor. "The way آپ talk, it's like آپ won't be satisfied unless I'm Kira."
"Not satisfied unless you're Kira...?" muttered L.. "Yes, that may be true... I have just realized something... I wanted آپ to be Kira..."
Hearing this, Light punched L again head-on, straight in the middle of his face. At that moment, I myself stepped آگے to go and attempt to injure Light in any way I could, but I hear Misa squeak behind me.
"What's wrong, Amane?" I asked in an unwillingly aggressive tone.
"You're gonna get into the fight, too?" she asked, her mouth again looking like a crater.
"That's because your boyfriend can't stand the truth! Be happy that I didn't start kicking آپ in order to distract the others' attention!"
"Kira will be caught tomorrow!" I said.
"Oh, please, it's the twenty-fifth time when آپ کہا this today," Volpes told me. At first, her accent was very strange for me. Nobody in this institution had an accent as purely British as hers. It still took me سے طرف کی surprise, most of all when she was annoyed: it was like she spoke twice as fast.
Despite my first دن here, we were now close friends. We were now reading ڈیٹس اپ on the Kira case every day. Near, my other close friend, did not want to know anything in advance, for some reason, so only Volpes and I knew what the press what saying in the newspapers and what the people were speculating. I was very interested in the Kira case because, to me it seemed like the greatest dare L has ever faced.
Volpes turned the computer off.
"What?!" I breathed. "I have to read it again!"
"Well, I have to take a break from hearing یا reading Kira's name and so should you!" she said. "Mello is driving me insane just as much as آپ are! I appreciate L and what he's doing, but I also want to improve my own skills! How will آپ ever get to work with L if all آپ do is read articles?"
"I thought about that," I replied, calmly.
Volpes didn't waste any time and quickly got out of the room. She clearly knew that she'd have to waste another گھنٹہ listening to my ramblings.
This time I really did have a plan, however. I only had to figure out a way to extract money from the bank account which my parents created many years ago, before they died. At the time, they planned to use that money for when I'd go to university, but this was not the case anymore.
I went downstairs, locking the door to my room. The only reason why I had a computer there was that very bank account. Roger Ruvie, the man who watched over this institution for Watari, allowed me to extract some money and buy a computer for my birthday.
That's when it struck me. My plan was complete. I knew how to help L with the investigation. Today was the 20th of December. My birthday was in four days! Roger usually allowed people to extract money from bank accounts (if they had any) on their birthdays. It did depend a bit on who was asking, but I didn't worry about that. I was one of the پسندیدہ in Wammy's House. I could ask Roger to give me some cash and I'd be able to fly to Japan!
I arrived in the main activity room, where people usually did stuff in order to impress Roger, thus impressing Watari, thus impressing L. I could see Volpes in a corner solving some gigantic puzzle. She, Near and I were the best at puzzles, but this was just a hobby to Volpes and Near, while I didn't really like solving puzzles for relaxation.
Looking at all those people, I figured that it was all quite funny. They were trying so hard to replace and surpass L! It was so much easier to just assist and help him! I felt a bit sorry for the orphans in Wammy's House, but I didn't really care that much. I had to prepare to convience Roger that I should be allowed to have the money.
"I am going to ask آپ for the last time," I said. "Will آپ come with me یا not?"
"Gorgeous," Volpes answered. "Then this is the last time I have to refuse this proposal."
"Volpes! آپ could meet L! And آپ could help him, too!"
"I want to meet L and I do want to help him too, but I won't break the rules like this, yet."
"Fine, have it your way. I'll be too late to see Roger if I continue arguing with you," I finished.
I knocked lightly on Roger's office's door, which was to my back until now.
"Come in," came Roger's voice.
I pushed the door to see him sitting at his desk, like as always.
"Oh," he said. "Hello, Blaire. What do آپ want to tell me?"
"Today is my birthday," I said.
"Happy birthday, then," he added quickly.
"Thank you. I'd like to ask آپ a favor, sir. I'd like some money, so I can buy something I really want... Obviously, I'd take it from my bank account, but I need an adult tp do it..."
Roger's eyes narrowed.
"And what would آپ like to buy?" he asked.
"A new موسیقی player," I lied automatically. "And a few other things."
"And you'd go to buy it yourself?"
"Well... Yes, sir... I won't do anything stupid. آپ can forget ever recommending me to L if I do anything irresponsible."
Roger paused. He obviously thought I wouldn't throw away a chance like that.
"Fine," he answered. "Just tell me how much money آپ need."
I couldn't hold back the smile which appeared on my face.
"Thank you, sir, thank آپ very much!" I muttered.
I won.
25th of December 2006
I woke up that morning hearing a knock on the door. I hastily opened to see Roger standing outside. He had a thick envelope in his right hand.
"Good morning, Blaire,' he said. "Sorry to wake آپ up. Here is the money آپ requested. I thought I should give it to آپ now. I'll be away for the rest of the دن and I don't want to carry such a sum of money with me یا have it lying in my office." He gave me a stern look. "I can't imagine what could cost آپ so much money. I hope آپ won't دکھائیں me that it was a mistake to trust you."
"I won't, sir," I answered. "Thank you, sir."
He nodded, gave me the envelope and left. I felt sorry for lying to Roger like that, but I considered my purpose to be worth it.
I don't know how I managed to persuade him to give me 1750 dollars... I don't know if he really did believe my excuses یا not, but he agreed, eventually. I probably will never understand why he accepted to give me the money. He probably thought I was trustworthy یا something like that, but he'll hate me, soon.
And, of course, I knew that he'd be away this day. He never spends Christmas at Wammy's House, so I planned something for this day, as well. I checked my watch: 9:12 AM. I quickly got dressed in a t-shirt and some jeans and waited.
At 9:20, I heard a knock on the door. It was Volpes.
"He left," she told me.
"Good," I answered. "Let's go."
We sneaked down the hallway, heading to Roger's office. Most people were downstairs, eating, so we didn't meet anybody on our way. It was very risky, anyway. We had no idea if he kept any records of L and Watari's current location, but we had to try. If I came to Japan without knowing where L was, then I'd be useless to him.
We reached the door. Strangely, it was not locked. I stopped and looked at Volpes, who was right behind me.
"It's not locked," I told her in a slightly panicked tone.
"You're lucky I paid attention to him," she said. "Let me explain آپ the whole thing I overheard yesterday. Again. Remember the woman who serves the food each day? Yesterday morning, I heard her talking to Roger. I told آپ that I thought it was unusual that he was there. Well, he was talking to that woman about the burial of some relative which was supposed to be sometime soon. He wanted to know if the coffin was ready یا something like that." Volpes smiled cunningly. "This means that he is distracted. If he was so interested in finding out about the details of the burial, it means that either that person was somebody he was close to, یا that the person is somebody important, most likely the first option. So, he ihas a lot to think about at this time. It's very likely that he just forgot. I doubt it's a trap of some sort. And it is highly unlikely for cameras to be installed in the office. Roger does official business there which sometimes concerns L himself. He wouldn't want any conversation یا other proof to be caught on tape."
I was still a bit worried.
"Are آپ sure we aren't risking too much?" I asked.
"Honestly, Blaire, It's much safer to just enter through the unlocked and unsupervised door than enter through the window, like آپ suggested," Volpes replied, laughing.
"I told you, Volpes, I suggested those solutions because I had no idea what plan B could be. I didn't seriously consider it," I said, frowning.
I opened the door to the office, ignoring all the doubts which came in my mind. No alarm sounded, as I half-expected. Volpes and I entered the office quickly, and immediately closing the door behind us. Everything was just as neatly-arranged as ever. I slowly advanced to the ڈیسک on which the computer stood, Volpes following right behind me.
Volpes turned the computer on and we were requested, as expected, a password. Volpes took out a CD, placed it in the CD-Drive which she had she just opened and then closed it. Then, to my surprise, she turned off the computer and then she immediately turned it back on.
"We don't have time," کہا Volpes. "Find your passport and write that statement. I can handle it here."
I obeyed and looked around in the many places where I thought official documents could be hidden. I was only looking for something which would have Roger's signature on it.
"I brought the statement here," I said, waving a piece of paper which I had with me all this time. All I need is his signature. Anyway, how did آپ find that CD?"
"I persuaded Matt to give it to me. Indeed, it is very useful. Oh!" she exclaimed, and I turned my head to look at her, thinking that she compromised Roger's computer. She looked up, again smiling cunningly and said: "I managed to log into this bloody typewriter."
I ran اگلے to her and looked at the computer screen. Indeed, she managed to get past Roger's password. We decided to check the میل ای first. Once again, we were very lucky. The میل ای address signed in automatically. All we had to do to find the میل ای main site was to تلاش a bit in the browser's history. Roger had quite a few new emails. The fourth one we checked was exactly what we were looking for.
"This is just too simple," Volpes said, barely restraining a victorious laughter. "Read this part," she continued as she pointed to a row in the middle. "But hurry, it's already 9:34..."
The میل ای was from a bank. It apologized for the delay of their payment system. It also کہا that the payment for the 11-day stay at the Hildon Hotel in Tokyo, Japan was performed on the 25th instead of the 24th, as it was planned. So, it told me absolutely everything I needed to know.
"Have آپ found your passport?" asked Volpes, suddenly. While I rummaged through all the drawers I could find, Volpes turned the computer off and took out the CD, making sure that she left everything as it was. I finally found the passport and a document which was signed سے طرف کی Roger. She copied his signature as accurately as she could, doing a good job. We cleaned the place of all possible evidence which could be immediately noticed and silently left the office.
I went downstairs, worrying that our absence might have been noticed, but Volpes کہا that she had to get something from her room and left me alone. Downstairs, I saw Near. He was playing with some toy robots. I sat down اگلے to him, and smiled kindly when he looked up at me.
"Merry Christmas," I told him.
"Merry Christmas to you, too," he کہا in an emotionless and almost automatic way. "Where have آپ been?"
"I overslept," I lied.
That moment I saw Volpes crossing the room. She had something in her hand, something I couldn't see from that distance.
She went to Mello and Matt and gave each of them an object She told them something and then she came to me. She handed me an origami horse, with a little bow around it's neck.
"Merry Christmas," she said. "This سال it's origami."
"Thanks," I کہا analyzing my gift. I forgot about Volpes's yearly Christmas gift. Each سال it was something different which she crafted herself. She was one of the few who even gave gifts for Christmas to someone at all. The only three people who received gifts from Volpes were Mello, Matt and me.
"It was simple for me to choose the model this time. The horse is the symbol of travel and freedom," Volpes said, winking.
"Thank you,"I repeated. This was obviously her way to wish me good luck in front of everybody. "It's really beautiful."
Volpes gave me another smile, gave Near a strange look and went towards Matt and Mello. I now noticed that Near stared at Volpes and at the origami horse for the whole time. It was a shame that Volpes disliked Near like that.
"Beautiful horse," کہا Near.
I didn't really expect him to comment. I didn't expect him to pay any attention to Volpes. He must've felt really left out.
"I can give آپ something too, if آپ want," I told him.
"It's all right," he said, returning to his robots. "I didn't expect her to give me anything. She liked Mello, Matt and آپ much مزید than she likes me."
I felt sorry for him. He had nobody except for me and I didn't even think of giving him anything.
"Near, I'm sorry. I promise I'll buy آپ something nice and give it to آپ when I come back."
"When آپ come back?" I managed to surprise him.
"Yes. Volpes didn't give me this horse just because I have some strange passion for horses یا origami. It’s a good luck charm."
26th of December 2006
I headed towards the tall wrought iron gates which led out of the grounds of Wammy's House. I looked behind myself at the old building. It was so strange that I was leaving like this. I had a feeling that I'd never come back here. Still, I wasn't going to return now. I turned my gaze back at the سٹریٹ, گلی which stretched ahead of me. Right now, I couldn't wait to tell Volpes that my mission was a success. The plan wasn't perfect, but to think that it would fail now was just the same thing with retreating. I must not have negative thoughts with a plan as risky as this one. It was going to be an extremely tiring day. It seemed almost endless, but I thought I'd certainly recover some hours of sleep in the plane.
I went outside the gates and looked for another سیکنڈ at the street. It was half-buried in snow, but I could still see it. I headed up the street, hoping that my walk in that freezing air was not going to be long. I was planning to follow the سٹریٹ, گلی until it reached some مزید populated part of Winchester and find some public phone. Then, I'd call a taxi using a number which I found on the phone book. I did exactly a planned, walking for about ten منٹ before reaching a public phone.
My nose and feet were half-frozen سے طرف کی the time I reached the airport.
From this point on, I had to wait for another two hours before I could embark my flight. At 6 o'clock I left Wammy's House, at half past six I was in the airport and now I had to deal with the passport control and all the other formalities.
After waiting for about five minutes, my turn at passport control came. I gave my passport and the fake statement to the policeman. The following twenty سیکنڈ were some of the longest in my life. The policeman looked at me once and then back at the document and passport. The picture was really old... What if the passport had expired? That didn't پار, صلیب my mind... I'd be in big trouble... How could I explain to Roger why I took the passport in the first place?
"All right, thank you," the policeman کہا in an accent horribly similar to Volpes's.
I smiled, took the passport and statement and proceeded to the waiting area. There, I stuffed those two life-saving items in the bag which held all my clothes which I managed to take. I didn't wait long before hearing a woman's voice:
"All passengers on the flight to Istanbul at 8:45 AM, please proceed to gate three for check-in."
The woman repeated this once more, but I heard it perfectly the first time. This was my flight. I couldn't find any direct flight, and the only option was a three-hour stop in Istanbul, but I didn't mind it much as long as I reached Japan سے طرف کی the end of the day.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tokyo, Japan
I placed my foot on the sidewalk outside the airport and finally felt like it was all worth it in the end.
I wasted 650 dollars on the flight. I was very lucky to find one this cheap, but I only had 1100 dollars left. I had to be very careful. I had enough for a night at a cheap hotel, but only fore one night. I called a taxi. ' مزید money thrown out of the window,' I thought, but I had no choice. The guy looked suspiciously at me for a couple of seconds, but he took me to the Hildon Hotel.
My دل was beating it's way out of my chest, and I felt like it would break my ribs until we reached the hotel. The cab took out my bag out of the car's تنے, ٹرنک for me and, after handing him the money, I entered the hotel.
I asked the receptionist for the room number, stating that I was some long lost relative who wanted to surprise her uncle. It did help that I knew Watari's real name.
"Room 712, floor 7," he said.
I barely restrained myself from hugging this naive yet extremely useful guy. I took the elevator to the seventh floor, feeling a gigantic void in the place where my stomach was supposed to be. I soon found room number 712. I put my hand forward, willing to knock, but I stopped in mid-air. This was ridiculous. I could break into Roger's office but I couldn't knock on a damn door. Using all the courage I had at my disposal, I knocked lightly. I waited 20 سیکنڈ before knocking again, louder. It was easier this time, but no answer again.
"Open up!" I called. "... I'm from Wammy's House, let me in, please."
No answer again. I started getting annoyed. How could've I came all the way from Winchester to Tokyo and I got stuck here?
"Open up right now!" I yelled. "I know who's in there, don't make me shout it out loud!"
"Who is keeping my place in the institution آپ mentioned?" asked a voice which I recognized as Watari's.
"Roger Ruvie! Now open up!"
I started kicking and punching the door. My fist stopped again in mid-air while trying to deliver the third مککا, عجیب الخلقت to the door when I saw it سوئنگ, جھول open. Watari stood in the doorway, watching me sternly.
"Good day," he said, "excuse me, but what is your business here?"
"I want to help L in his investigation!" I said. "I flew all the way from Winchester to here on my own, using my own money! Please, don't send me back!!"
"How did آپ find this location?" he asked, apparently ignoring me.
"A friend of mine helped me hack into Mr. Ruvie's computer," I said. I started feeling panicked. "Please, let me in..."
Watari almost frowned.
"All right," he concluded. "If I find that آپ do anything the least bit suspicious, I shall incarcerate you. Please, come in."
Relief invaded me. I was finally going to meet L, after this endless day...
Watari stepped back, closed the door behind me and took my bag, placing it delicately on a table. I got to glance around the fancy hotel room for a second. It was a large, well lit room, with old-style furniture built of a light brown wood and with pale yellow and golden fabric. Quite the typical type of expensive hotel penthouse, but it was still impressive. Watari showed me a doorway to my left and I walked through to see a dark room, lit only سے طرف کی the light of a monitor sitting directly on the wooden floor. There seemed to be some مزید furniture in the room, but I could barely see their sillhouettes. The only thing which I could clearly see except for the monitor was a young man.
"Who was it, Watari?" he asked. His voice was not unusual in any way. Was this L?
"It was a resident from Wammy's House," کہا Watari, startling me. I didn't realize that he came behind me.
"Oh, is that so?" کہا the young man, not seeming at all surprised. "What is that resident's name?"
After a short brake in which Watari didn't answer anything, I figured that I was supposed to answer that. I almost slapped my forehead at that moment. Obviously, Watari and L (I chose to assume that this was L, since Watari answered him so obediently) had no way of knowing my name.
"My name is Blaire", I answered, trying not to sound embarrassed.
At this, L turned around to look at me. I have never felt like I was being scanned سے طرف کی human eyes before. Once he turned around, I knew that this young man was almost surely L. His cold, analytic eyes gazed directly into mine. He suddenly got up from the position in which he was standing. I only noticed how strange and unusual it was once he stood normally: it was as if he was hugging his knees until now. Not that his position now was any مزید normal. He was hunching forward, his hands in the pockets of his old, oversized jeans. He headed towards me and Watari, but I didn't feel threatened at all, even if this man certainly did not seem normal.
"I am L," he said, still gazing in my eyes.
I could not think of anything to say. Now I could glance properly at him: I was not wrong, his eyes were pitch-black. His hair was messy and just as black as the eyes. He was wearing, besides the jeans, an equally large, white shirt. Despite all this, I didn't consider him bad-looking at all. Then, I figured that he was almost certainly waiting for me to state the reason why I was there.
"Umm..." I started. Very intelligent. "I am here to help آپ with the Kira investigation."
"Indeed," L said. "I hope آپ understand that we didn't request your help and we can send آپ back to the orphanage and take care to receive the appropriate punishment for coming here."
"Yes, I understand that, but I still wanted to come and I still want to stay. I read everything that was made public about the Kira case, so آپ don't have to bother telling me the basic details. I really believe I could be useful to the investigation." I hesitated. "After all, I am one of your four possible successors."
"But still, آپ didn't manage to get here entirely on your own," he said.
"What?" I asked, completely taken aback. What was he talking about?
"I overheard everything آپ told Watari earlier. I suppose آپ managed to get my current location from Roger Ruvie's computer, but آپ also کہا that آپ managed to hack into his computer with the help of a friend. Obviously another resident in the orphanage."
I frowned, but I was not really getting angry. I was just getting worried. It was impossible for me to even attempt to predict what L was going to do next.
"This does not mean that I am not impressed, though," L continued. "This is the first time this has ever happened to me. آپ shall stay here for a while. I will judge if آپ can actually help the case اقدام آگے in any way. If I think آپ are not capable of helping me with the investigation I shall send آپ back to Wammy's House." He turned to look at Watari with his intense stare. "Please, find a room for my new assistant."
How cheesy. I was his assistant. But, at least I got to stay.

28th of December 2006
The moment I woke up, I was surprised not to be in Wammy's House. Then, I remembered the دن before yesterday, and was, again, very proud of myself. My first دن there was not eventful. Things started moving again on the 28th, as I was going to find out. I got dressed and went straight to L's rooms. My room was also connected to his rooms, so there would be no trouble with me having to always knock and hope for L to answer the door. I walked to the dark room in which L always stood. This دن was no exception. He was sitting in his strange position on the bare floor.
"Good morning," I said.
That very second, his computer beeped. He pressed some button and a male voice said:
"L... I just got word from Japan that eight of our agents are dead. I tried contacting all 12 agents I sent over, just in case, and couldn't reach any of them."
The man couldn't see this, but L was most certainly shocked.
"Kira got them," continued the man. "There's no other explanation."
L paused a bit, obviously thinking hard, took the microphone and said:
"Please try to stay calm and listen to me. Was there anyone who knew the faces of all 12? یا anyone who had their تصاویر on file?"
The man also hesitated, then answered:
"Only myself, until yesterday..."
"Until yesterday?!"
"Yes. A request came in for the names and تصاویر of all the agents in Japan, so they could liaise with each other. I sent off the whole file as an e-mail attachment..."
"That's it!!" exclaimed L, startling me. "Kira was in contact with that agent! And he somehow managed to get a look at the file!! Who was the agent آپ sent it to?"
"The file was sent to all of the agents on this mission..."
"All of them..." muttered L after a short pause.
"I suddenly got multiple requests from agents saying they wanted to know who else is over there..." spoke the man through the computer. "So I assumed they all decided to do this together. I sent the file directly to the first four... And told them to send it on to the others. "
L stood up.
"So they all had the file..." he muttered. "If Kira can control what people do right before they die... He could have seen one agent's file, then made it so all of them got the file before he killed them." L continued thinking, but this time he did not say anything out loud.
"L," called the man on the computer, "I'm sorry, but the FBI is terminating its investigation in Japan." At this, L's surprise must've been just too great to hold back. "It's true that Kira has murdered مزید criminals in the U.S. than anywhere else. But ever since آپ pinpointed his location as the Kanto region around Tokyo, his victims have been concentrated in Japan. The Japanese victims are all criminals, but we've lost 12 good agents. These people are people with families, L. It's a big loss. And the decision to send them over there was made سے طرف کی me alone. I'm going to be questioned سے طرف کی congress over this. And, I'm a well known man... My face is public property. I don't want to be killed... The FBI is pulling out of Japan..." The man paused for about three seconds, then continued: "Hmph, here's a phone call from the Japanese Task Force already... I'm telling them the FBI was there at your request, L... Is that understood? Goodbye..."
He didn't even give L the chance to answer. L stood petrified, obviously bothered quite a lot سے طرف کی the situation. And who wouldn't be? Anyway, I knew about the FBI and the اقدام L made. He explained this carefully to me the دن before. I seemed to have brought bad luck to the investigation.
The اگلے day, L received a document from Watari. I remember him saying that it was another dying message from one of Kira's latest victims. Since the very moment I found out about the other similar messages criminals left before dying, I thought they were not really pointing to anything. That they were just there to misguide L, but he liked to consider everything, so he didn't exclude the possibility of a hidden message. And سے طرف کی that, I mean something other than the "L do آپ know gods of death" thing. Anyway, today, the sentence was completed. I managed to read the letter from behind L. "Love apples." 'L, do آپ know gods of death love apples?' It was all very strange, and ominous in some way. L was angered سے طرف کی this new message, however.
In a few days, L managed to think of a way to find out who was the agent contacted سے طرف کی Kira. We also changed our hotel. But, even if only a few days passed since the Japanese Police found out about the deaths of the agents, they were quickly getting very tense and resentful towards L. Sadly, this was not really that unexpected. But things started moving in a direction which I really did not like.

31st of December 2006
The moment I woke up that day, I had no idea that my presence in Japan would, again, be questioned. The first part of the دن was quiet, but as the sun went down, putting an end to another short period of sunlight typical to this time of the year, I figured I'll meet today some people which I never really wanted to meet. In the evening, I waited as the people investigating Kira with L were deciding whether to stay یا not. After a while, we found out that only six policemen had the guts to stay.
At some point, someone کہا L's name:
"There's L, which makes us seven. Add Watari, and we have eight, chief."
A pause, then L spoke:
"I have great faith in those of آپ who are brave and committed enough to remain."
Another break, then some other voice said:
"Uh... Just wait a minute. L کہا he has great faith in us, but... We don't have faith in L. We can't trust him!"
I gasped, but I wasn't loud enough for the policemen to hear me. L raised his right hand as if saying 'Please control yourself', but all I could think was how could those puny policemen doubt L?
"We've decided to risk our lives to get Kira, L," کہا a third voice. "You ought to know what that means. We're totally exposed."
"But آپ just order us around without ever دکھانا your face," whined the سیکنڈ voice.
"We'll go after Kira, L," کہا a fourth voice, "but we can't work with you."
"It's not just us," کہا voice #2. "The public doesn't trust آپ either. People are turning against you."
"What do آپ expect?!" asked voice #3 in a very bothering loud tone. "If people say it's L's fault that twelve FBI agents have died, who can deny it?"
"It's true that a number of criminal psychologists have suggested that L is Kira," کہا a fifth voice. How stupid. "In other words, they're saying that L has a تقسیم, الگ کریں personality... The FBI was brought in سے طرف کی L. And then all the FBI agents who have entered Japan were killed. L would have known the identities of those agents..."
This was just stupid and illogical. It was obvious that Kira couldn't have killed the agents before entering Japan. And, if آپ thought this way, then the FBI director was equally suspect, because he of all the people knew the names and faces of the agents. But, voice #2 interrupted my thoughts with a shout of his own mind. Why did all those people have to shout?
"That's not all!" he said. I smelled stupidity. "If آپ consider everything that's happened so far as being orchestrated سے طرف کی L, it all suddenly makes sense." I was right.
"The fact that he's never shown himself to anyone, and that he's a genius who can solve any crime, only makes that theory much مزید convincing."
A break.
"L..." saud voice #5, "if آپ want to work with us and help us catch Kira, how about coming here to the Task Force in person?"
"Yeah," shouted voice #3. I started disliking voice #3. "If آپ دکھائیں yourself to us and promise to be a part of the team, we'll trust you. We'll cooperate with you."
I looked at L, wondering what he was going to do. I wouldn't have agreed.
"As I کہا earlier, I have great faith in you," answered L. "Watari..."
"Yes," he answered.
Then, L wrote several messages to the detectives in the Task Force. I walked further away from L and his computer. I couldn't believe how much nerve those people. All they had to do to meet L was to get into a tantrum and it was all fixed. I had to fly all the way to the other side of the Earth using my own money and risking being thrown in the سٹریٹ, گلی and all they had to do was get into tantrums. Life is this fair.
After around fifteen minutes, L got away from the computer and went to face me.
"Get ready," he said, "the detectives will be coming here to meet us."
"No, they're coming here to meet you," I answered angrily. "And I wish it were that simple for me to come here and meet you, آپ know. I don't think those people are any good. All they do is fuss."
"You should try to put yourself in their shoes," he answered simply. "I only accepted because I need the police on my side, anyway."
"Whatever," I said, walking back into the room where L was previously sitting.
I sat on an کرسی, آرام کرسی a bit further away from the group of sofas and other armchairs sitting in the middle of the room around a coffee table. L stood behind in the first room. I waited for about 20 منٹ until I heard knocks on the door. I almost feel asleep in the meanwhile.
"Please enter," I heard L say. "I've been awaiting you." And who hasn't? After I heard the door open, L continued: "I'm L." He didn't bother introducing himself to me.
"I'm Detective-Super-Intendent Yagami of the NPA," کہا the voice which I recognized as Voice #5.
"I'm Matsuda," کہا Voice #1.
"I'm Aizawa," کہا Voice #2.
"I'm Ukita," کہا Voice #4.
"I'm Mogi," کہا a voice which I didn't recognize.
And they stopped here. Thank goodness that they didn't bring Voice #3 with them.
"Bang!" exclaimed L's voice, suddenly. I myself turned around to try to see what was going on, but I was unsuccessful.
"Huh?!" exclaimed Matsuda. "This is your idea of a joke?!"
"If I was Kira, you'd be dead... Yagami-san," کہا L. "All Kira needs to murder someone is knowledge of their name and face. آپ ought to know that سے طرف کی now... Common sense says آپ can't kill anybody just سے طرف کی knowing their name and face. But the fact is, criminals are dropping dead one after the other on the basis of that information alone. That is how he murders people - we have no choice but to believe it. We're the only ones left who are willing to risk our lives for this. So let's be careful about telling people our names. Let's value our lives."
A pause.
"He needs to know names?" I barely managed to hear Matsuda ask. "I knew about faces, but did anyone ever mention names?"
"Every major criminal whose name is unknown, یا whose name was reported erroneously, remains alive," کہا Yagami. "This was brought up in Task Force meetings..." I laughed quietly. Those people must've been total idiots.
"But if that's the only basis..." tried Matsuda to say before being interrupted سے طرف کی L.
"Rather than standing around talking, how about we اقدام over there? Please turn off your cell phones , laptops and any other electronic equipment and put it on that میز, جدول first."
Then, L walked into the room, not waiting in the doorway for the detectives. He quickly looked at me in his way to his armchair. His look almost seemed to be telling me 'be patient with them'. How annoying.
"...You think we might have our cell phones on talk mode so someone outside could monitor our conversation...?" asked the one named Aizawa.
"Just do as he says, Aizawa," کہا Yagami.
"We all knew he was cautious, but this makes me wonder if he really trust us یا not," کہا Matsuda.
"It's not that," کہا L, sitting down on his کرسی, آرام کرسی like as always. "I just can't stand it when someone's cell phone rings while I'm talking. Two مزید things. Don't write down anything I say here. Just keep it in your heads. And don't call me "L" anymore. Please always call me "Ryuzaki" from now on. Both for safety's sake."
The detectives paused a bit before coming in. They probably stared in awe at L's position. As they came in, some of them looked at me, a bit surprised. They certainly didn't expect somebody else to be there, most of all someone like me. I was ready for their سوالات and shouts, anyway. But, all they did was to walk around L's کرسی, آرام کرسی and look around.
"Now all of you, sit down," L told them. That was probably the moment when they figured that they were just staring around, so they did as instructed.
"I just had an idea," کہا one of the detectives. I deduced that, since his voice had just stated this earlier, he was Matsuda. "If we know that Kira needs to know people's names and faces, then can't we tell the media to omit those from their crime coverage? That could the number of victims."
"... If we do that, ordinary people will be killed."
"Ordinary people?" asked Ukita.
"Why' that?" asked Aizawa.
"Kira is childish and hates losing," کہا L, mixing the چائے and sugar in his cup. "You guessed it... I'm also childish and hate losing... That's how I know..."
"L... No, Ryuzaki. Could آپ explain that a little مزید clearly?" asked Yagami.
Urgh... I stopped paying attention after that. Even if sometimes someone would peek at me, I'd stare at them until they looked back at Ryuzaki. Anyway, I already knew everything L was telling them right now. I now knew how annoying it was to have to explain something this long over and over. For some reason, I looked back at L's back, again paying attention, when he concluded سے طرف کی saying:
"...So, any questions?"
The detectives were not paying attention. They didn't hear L's سوال and just spoke among themselves. How disrespectful. And they were supposed to be the adults. Then, Matsuda turned, as if he had just realized that this was the moment he was waiting for until now.
"Umm... I wanted to ask something, L. Who is that girl behind you?"
"She is here to learn, but also to help. آپ may all fell free to discuss with her as if you're discussing with me. Do not be fooled سے طرف کی her age."
All the detectives looked یا tried to look at me. I gave them all a fierce stare, trying to appear very determined. I don't know what impression I made on them, though... Anyway, I felt proud of myself that L told those people to think so highly of me. I couldn't wait to tell Volpes about this.
"I also have a سوال for you, Ryuzaki," کہا Yagami. "Earlier آپ کہا آپ hate losing. سے طرف کی دکھانا your face to us, aren't آپ admitting that Kira defeated you?"
"Yes. دکھانا myself, and the loss of those FBI agents' lives, means I lost. But... I'll win in the end." I smiled as I heard L say that. This finally sounded just like the L I used to envision. "Like yourselves, this is the first time I've staked my life on a contest. Let' دکھائیں him, those of us who are risking our lives that the good guys always win."
A pause, before everybody exclaimed their approval of the idea. Very enthusiastic people...
"Great," کہا L, after getting up from his کرسی, آرام کرسی and heading out of the room. "So first, to be sure that none of آپ is Kira, I'd like to speak to each of آپ alone-"
"Ryuzaki's right," کہا Yagami. "If Kira was in the Task Force to start with, it stands to reason he'd remain in it now."
"And if he remained, he's seen Ryuzaki's face..." کہا Matsuda while L was heading to the gigantic windows located in the first room. I stood behind, of course. I had to listen to all the ramblings of some puny, second-hand detectives.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
5th of January 2007
L and the detectives met a few times مزید after that first night, but they didn't discuss anything interesting enough for me to remember. On the 5th of January, we were all supposed to see the deaths of the FBI agents caught on tape in order to find مزید clues. We had changed the hotel since the first meeting, as well.
"That's all of the security camera footage we managed to find دکھانا the FBI agents. We're lucky we found this much," کہا Aizawa once he was finally done piling up the footage he found. "So we have three of them on camera when they had the دل attacks: Knick Staek was in a Ginza Departament Store, Raye Penber was on a platform on the Yamamote line, and Nikola Nasberg was in an Ikebukuro bank. As for the others, the most we could find was where they're leaving their hotels."
He کہا all that while the three ویڈیوز were on. L was already carefully watching the videos, so I decided to do the same. After he watched the ویڈیوز a bit, he said:
"Can آپ play back the parts where Raye Penber goes through the turnstile, where he gets on the train and where he dies? I'd like to see those again, اگلے to each other."
Although it was obvious that Yagami and his other detectives were unsure why L requested this, much like I was, to be honest, they obeyed. L watched the footage closely, and, again, thought out loud. I tried to pay as much attention to him as possible, but I was, at some point, only watching the footage, ignoring everything around me. What could possibly be out of the ordinary here?
"What happened to the envelope?" L suddenly asked, startling me and, again, gaining my full attention. "At the turnstile and on the platform, he's holding something like a manila envelope."
"An envelope?" asked Aizawa, stating my thoughts out loud.
Yeah, now that I thought back about it, I saw it, but I didn't notice it missing in the footage with Penber dying.
"Hey! You're right," کہا Aizawa. "He's definitely holding an envelope! He's got it over here, too. I can't believe آپ noticed that, Ryuzaki."
"Why wouldn't he be able to notice that?" I asked, in a tone as innocent as I could fake. That last phrase got on my nerves.
Aizawa gave me a quick glance which reflected annoyance, but neither he nor I answered to each other's dare.
"There was nothing like an envelope found on his body, though..." کہا Yagami.
"Which means that he left it on the train," I said, L nodding slightly. "No, Penber only got the file at 15:21, on the train. He couldn't have had it before he boarded," replied L, wiping the floor with Matsuda's theory.
"Oh, yeah..." muttered Matsuda.
"Get every station on the Yamamote line to give آپ all the footage they have for December 27," L told Aizawa.
"Uh, okay," replied the latter.
"And... This last image of Raye Penber... To me it looks like he's desperately trying to look into the train..." کہا L.
I was thinking of that as well, earlier, but I didn't think it would've made any sense until now.
"...And if he is, that's a clue?" asked Yagami.
"What if Kira was in there?" I took the liberty of answering, but, apparently, L approved of my answer.
"You... Couldn't be..." muttered Yagami, looking at me and back at L.
"I agree, it isn't likely," continued L. "If Kira can murder from afar, why would he bother going there...? Still, he might have figured that's what we'd think, and taken the risk of coming out in the open. Well, even if Kira was on this train, I'm sure he wouldn't let himself be captured on a security camera with the envelope... A public place like this, he would have checked the camera locations in advance and used the blind spots, if any. If not, he'd hide behind someone. But if he is captured on camera with it, we could call him in as a material witness."
The investigation seemed to be moving a bit, now. After a while, L and the detectives decided to investigate Raye Penber further. L was assigning each of the detectives what to investigate when Watari told him that someone had 'interesting information'. L found out that Naomi Misora, a former FBI agent who happened to be Raye Penber's fiancee had gone missing. Everything seemed to be pointing to Raye Penber, and L knew this. So, he decided to place cameras and bugs in the houses of those who Raye Penber was probing before December 19. The NPA employees Penber was tracing were Deputy Director-General Kitamura and his family and, ironically, Detective Superintendent Yagami and his family.
In my opinion, Yagami took the news well. He did sweat a lot, but it was quite a tense situation for him, I'm sure. Other than shouting a bit at Matsuda, he kept calm. L also کہا that only himself, Yagami and me would be watching the surveillance. Not that it lasted for long. Yagami Jr. did a lot of strange things, but I guess they weren't that abnormal after all. Half a week later, L decided to stop the surveillance on the Yagami family.
But this certainly wasn't the boldest اقدام L decided to make on this investigation. اگلے thing I knew, he planned to go to یونیورسٹی with Light Yagami. And so he did. It was a time in which all I had to do was sit around in a hotel listening to the detectives on the investigation talk. They sometimes asked me things which were obviously meant to discover if I had some other role other than 'L's apprentice'. I was bored, so all I did was to try my best to confuse them even more. They were quite entertaining at some point, but obviously, I had quite an enjoyable time compared to Yagami's.
Just two days after L started going to یونیورسٹی with Light, he had a دل attack. We all thought it was Kira, at first, but we were wrong. And thank goodness, too, because Yagami came back into action in force when the سیکنڈ Kira got into the stage. When that TV station, Sakura TV was broadcasting Kira's message and we had no way to interfere, Yagami solved it all for us. I started thinking that he was not really that dim-witted after all, and that he did put everything he had in the investigation. But other problems arose after we managed to silence Sakura TV (temporarily).
After the police refused to cooperate with the سیکنڈ Kira, we had to think of a way to escape the killing of L and of the Director-General of the NPA. I shall be honest, when I found out that L could die سے طرف کی the hands of Kira, I... well, I didn't react very well. Yagami managed to control himself better than I did. Of course, we viewed Tape #4 before the rest of the world, but it was just as embarrassing to have all those men looking at me shout that there had to be some way around this. L was my idol, after all... Of course I cared if he lived یا if he died...
Then, I found out that Light Yagami was going to help us with catching the سیکنڈ Kira, at first not knowing that there might be a سیکنڈ Kira. I was, again, annoyed that yet another person managed to meet L without the slightest effort, but I کہا nothing. Yet, my decision to keep silent about this was hard to keep when I finally saw Light. My first thought of him was that, even if he certainly was trying hard not to دکھائیں it, it was as if he was looking down on us. As if he thought himself to be our ultimate superior. I hated him almost instantly, but he wasn't the only one who could act. Although I disliked lying, I found it necessary this time.
But it was very entertaining that L was testing this guy first. Although, at some point, I could swear that he gave L a hateful stare, he answered simply that there might be مزید than one person with Kira's powers. He obviously figured it out. We couldn't act like there was only one Kira, now. After Light's response, L started telling everybody of his plan to fake a message to the سیکنڈ Kira from the real Kira. L also told Light to give me the message once he's done composing it. I was supposed to check it first before giving my approval and handing it to L. I suppose this meant that L had great trust in me, so I felt quite happy upon hearing this.
Light's message was quite good, but I found that it encouraged Kira #2 to kill L a bit too much, and this was exactly what I had told L. He agreed with me, while Light laughed innocently and کہا that it was all to make it مزید convincing. Yeah, right. I couldn't buy anything this guy said.
Anyway, soon that دن the broadcast started. And it was effective, too. Only two days later we got our response from the سیکنڈ Kira. This proved that, indeed, there were two Kiras. But this سیکنڈ one must've been an imbecile. He was extremely obedient and also extremely dedicated to the real Kira.
When the message spoke of the eyes, I was confused, just like everybody, but when L fell out of his chair at the mention of shinigami, I forgot any theories I might have had about eyes. I have never even imagined L in such a situation, and I was angry that there was no moment now when I could ask him about the meaning of his scare. There were always at least two detectives around us. I went to L to help him get up. He then put the chair back in horizontal position, still explaining the others a theory of his. I am ashamed to say that I was not paying attention to what L کہا but to whether he was hurt یا not. یا maybe even if he was still scared. I did not like دکھانا Light Yagami any weakness.
At this moment, I was happy that none of the detectives even knew my alias. Nobody knew me as 'Blaire' there because I did not introduce myself, and nor did L introduce me. It was as if he wanted to keep me a mystery for those people. I was all right with this. It was annoying when I was called 'the Apprentice', 'that girl' یا 'L's Girl', but it didn't really matter.
The اگلے thing which led me to believe that the سیکنڈ Kira is a complete idiot was the اگلے thing we got from him: a journal entry. That's also when I started thinking that the سیکنڈ Kira was female. Not that it mattered to me, much, it was just another detail. Our اگلے اقدام was to just inspect the places mentioned in the entry on the specified dates. I, like L, didn't have to go anywhere, and I'm thankful for that. I didn't like the prospect of looking for Kira on the street, it was quite creepy.
The اگلے (and last) thing which we received from the سیکنڈ Kira was yet another video. And, just like L said, آپ could sense that she was influenced, most likely سے طرف کی the original Kira. It might have been just an impression, but I thought that I saw a bit of panic on Light's face upon hearing this theory. But, the discussion did not go in the direction I expected.
"Yes... Light-kun isn't Kira..." started L. I thought he was lying. "Or rather, I don't want Light-kun to be Kira. Because Light-kun is my first-ever friend."
...
It was not very pleasant to hear this. I decided to consider this yet another lie and never think of this again.
But the اگلے دن was much مزید pleasant to me. After L went again to the To-Oh University, he called and told us who stood behind at the headquarters that the سیکنڈ Kira has been captured. A girl was indeed brought in our personal custody, and for a moment I was kid of scared سے طرف کی the way the girl was being held. Turns out her name was Misa Amane, some model which was a bit famous here in Japan. Never heard of her. She was quite troublesome, anyway. Three days later, she requested being killed, but she did not confess anything. Then, she tarted playing dumb. The problem is that she was very convincing.
The very اگلے day, Light Yagami comes and says that he might be Kira. Only might... He proposes being confined, and L accepted this. Then, in anger, Yagami also requests being confined. His wish is granted, also. A week later, Light Yagami starts wanting back out. Now, he insisted that he could not be Kira. But it didn't matter, now. Kira's killings have stopped since Light Yagami was confined. It was all pointing to Amane and Yagami.
But, sadly, things changed again shortly: Kira started killing again and the other detectives were getting angry and suspicious about the incarceration of the Yagami men. We soon had to end it all. L thought of putting Light and Amane to one مزید test before ending their confinements. He asked detective-super-intendent Yagami to put up an act to see if in a highly pressing situation, Kira would crack. That did not work either. Kira didn't emerge, and we could only keep Amane and Light under a gentler care. But they'd have to help us with the case. However, I had no idea how Misa could help us...
23rd of July 2007
We were all gathered in L's hotel room. This gathering was supposed to clear the confusion regarding the role of Amane and Light Yagami in this investigation. I bet some of the detectives in there were waiting for this for a horribly long time... But I myself was getting مزید and مزید confused at the sight of Yagami and L being chained together. I am quite certain that I was not the only one not understanding this scene.
"Is this really necessary, Ryuzaki...?" asked Light, raising his left hand, the one wearing the handcuff.
"I'm not doing this because I want to," replied L.
"Huh...? This is what آپ meant سے طرف کی being together 24 hours a day?" asked Amane.
I was sitting a bit further away from L, Light and Misa until now. I got away from Matsuda, Soichiro Yagami and Aizawa and quietly went behind Misa's back closer to the scene. She did not hear یا notice me.
"Two guys chained together is gross..." کہا Misa, with a dumb expression. "This is what you're into? آپ were with Light at school, too..."
"I'm not doing this because I want to," repeated L.
"Yes, Amane," I کہا suddenly, startling her. "How many times should Ryuzaki repeat this?"
Misa stepped a bit further from me, with her hands at the level of her face, as if دکھانا that she meant no harm. She then said:
"But Light belongs to me... And if you're always together, then when am I supposed to go on dates with Light?"
"The dates will naturally be with the four of us..." replied L.
"Wha?!!" exclaimed Amane. "Four of us?"
"Yes. Blaire will be attending." My cover was blown, now. Everybody will deduce that I am Blaire.
"Blaire?" asked Matsuda.
Gee... "Somebody, please tell him,' I thought.
"Yes, Blaire," کہا L. "The one who has been assisting me since before آپ joined me. She shall assist because I want her to see the reactions Misa Amane and Light-kun will have in real life and give me a سیکنڈ opinion regarding their relationship. Whether they communicate secretly, whether they have some coded body language, some other sort of codes یا anything which would allow the two to communicate secretly. I do not expect her to decode any of it just yet, I just want her to see everything with her own eyes and maybe give me some مزید ideas based on her observations."
I think I blushed hearing this. I was really happy that of all the people here, L thought I was his best choice for this assignment.
"You're saying we have to kiss in front of you?" argued Amane.
"I didn't say آپ have to do anything. But Blaire and I will be watching..."
"Huh? What the hell?! I knew it! آپ are a pervert! Really, if you're trying to have some double date, just say it!"
"Amane, I will pretend to think that آپ did not hear what Ryuzaki had just کہا about my role here, not that آپ did not understand a word of it," I said, threateningly.
"Light-kun, please shut Misa-san up," L told Light.
"Misa, don't be so difficult," کہا Light. "You were definitely the one who sent those videos. Be grateful that you're allowed this much freedom."
"Hey, what are آپ saying, Light?" asked Misa, almost sadly. "I'm your girlfriend, right? آپ don't trust your lover?"
"Girlfriend...? All I know is that آپ say آپ fell in love at first sight and now آپ won't leave me alone..."
"Then آپ took advantage of that and kissed me...?!" shouted Misa, trying to kick and مککا, عجیب الخلقت Light's chest, but not managing to even make the air around him shudder a bit. I snickered. "You think I'm funny?" Misa asked me angrily, but only managing to make me laugh properly.
"About this love at first sight..." started L, "it was in Aoyama on May 22nd, correct?"
"Yes," answered Misa, suddenly calm again. L looked at the ceiling then back at Misa.
"Why did آپ go to Aoyama that day?" he asked. "What were آپ wearing?"
"How many times do I have to tell you? I just went there because I felt like it. How should I be able to remember exactly what clothes I was wearing? I'm not allowed to hang in Aoyama without a reason?"
"So آپ went to Aoyama and when آپ got ہوم آپ were in love with Light-kun and knew his name?" L concluded, moving his head closer to Amane's.
"Yes."
"But آپ don't know how آپ learned his name." L moved closer to Amane.
"That's right."
Then, L went straight to the point and asked Amane what her reaction would be if she found out that Light was Kira. Surprisingly, she hugged Light's right arm lovingly and کہا that she'd love him even مزید if he was Kira. Okay, so just a few منٹ پہلے he was kicking and punching him which, even though was equal to the strength of a short blow of the wind, was a somewhat hostile action. Now she was hugging him. Mood swings must not be something that unusual for her, though...
But, for the first time, I was happy that Aizawa interfered with the 'interrogation'. After L informed Amane of her luxury stay at our headquarters and of Matsuda/Matsui being her manager, she started whining. So, thank goodness, Aizawa couldn't stand it any longer and practically exploded. Within moments he was dragging Amane to her room. It was hilarious.
Then, with Misa gone, L got back to serious business. He made Light an offer which I could've sworn he would accept: actually take advantage of Amane's feelings and get مزید info about the سیکنڈ Kira. But Light refused... and this time I could really sense no lie behind his refusal. It was strange... It was as if, after his confinement, Light changed drastically. He was entirely different. He was actually quite pleasant now. And as strange as I found the fact that I now had no problem with him, he asked something which was bothering me for quite some time: whether we could avoid all this moving around hotels all the time.
L's answer was almost a total surprise for me. I remember hearing something about a construction short after the Task Force shrunk and joined L, but I never thought it was something like this... یا that it was something at all. The building was surprisingly large and, as L described it, very well equipped. I started looking آگے to moving there...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
2nd of August 2007
This was my personal brand of confinement. At least for myself. I felt like I had less freedom while sitting on the sofa اگلے to Misa than when I accidentally locked myself in a bathroom when I was five. I was supposed to pay great attention to Misa and Light, but Light did not seem to really care that he was on a تاریخ with Misa and Misa did not want to start a conversation. And honestly, I believed (and still do) that she was just too dim-witted to have even understood the concept of a code. Anyway, I still paid all the attention I had to the two.
"Umm... This doesn't feel like a تاریخ at all..." whined Misa.
"Pay no attention to us," کہا L, eating a strawberry. "By the way, will آپ be eating that cake?"
"... Sweets are fattening. No thanks..."
"If آپ use your head, آپ can eat sweets without gainig any weight though..."
"Ah! You're making fun of me again!"
"Ryuzaki, may I say something?" I asked.
"Yes, of course," کہا L before Misa had the chance to say another stupidity.
"I hate having to sit اگلے to her. It took her a this atrocious long time to figure out that آپ were making fun about her intelligence, I believe she is not able to learn and reproduce any complex code."
"Hey!!!" Misa shouted. All these 'hey's probably meant that she thought we did not mean her to hear those words but that she still was cunning enough to hear them. "I'll give آپ the cake and ignore your girlfriend. So, can Light and I be alone?"
"Even if you're alone, I'll be watching on the monitors, so it won't make any difference."
"Why are آپ such a pervert?!" Shouted Amane. "Stop these sick hobbies of yours!"
"You may call me whatever آپ wish, but I'm taking your cake," replied L, making me snicker.
"Fine then, when Light and I are alone, I'll close the curtains and turn off the lights." Misa کہا this with such an atrociously idiotic and dumb smile on her sorry face that it was literally painful to watch. She probably considered herself smart to have thought of this.
"There are infrared cameras too," L replied, glancing at her with the same obvious difficulty as I did.
"Then we'll get under the covers. Right, Light?"
"Whatever," Light dismissed her. "We have this great facility now, yet آپ don't seem very into it, Ryuzaki."
"Whatever...?" mumbled Amane as I snickered. "Meanie..."
"Into it...?" کہا L lazily. "Not really... I'm actually kind of depressed."
"Depressed?" کہا Light and I in the same time. After glancing at each other, we looked back at L.
"Yes... For the longest time, I thought آپ were Kira. I'm a little shocked that I was wrong... Well, I still suspect you, thus the handcuffs... But Kira could control people's actions... Meaning Kira controlled آپ to make me think that آپ were Kira...Light-kun and Misa-san were both controlled سے طرف کی Kira... Everything fits in my mind if I assume that to be fact... The only thing I don't understand is why the two of آپ weren't killed... If آپ were being controlled and killed people without being conscious of it, then آپ are nothing مزید than a victim... I have to start the investigation over from scratch... We're back to the beginning. If Kira took interest in آپ because آپ had access to police information and then controlled آپ to make آپ a suspect in my eyes... That's a pretty big shock to me... Very frustrating..."
"Ryuzaki..." started Light, "with that line of thinking, it means that while we were controlled, Misa and I were Kiras..."
"Yes, I don't think there's any mistake there," replied L. "You're both Kiras. The way I see it, when آپ were in confinement, آپ were Kira. And then the killings stopped... Up until then, it makes sense that آپ were Kira, but after two weeks, the killings resumed... Based on that, my thinking is that Kira's power passes from person to person. The سیکنڈ Kira's video even mentioned that the power could be shared..."
"That's an interesting theory, but if that is the case, then catching Kira will be difficult," کہا Light.
"Yes... That's why I'm depressed..." confirmed L. "You control someone and use them to kill the criminals, then when that person is caught, آپ transfer the power to someone else, and the first person loses all their memories... This would make the capture impossible..."
"But that's not definite yet," replied Light. "There are too many things that we don't understand about Kira right now. Come on, دکھائیں some energy." He کہا that last part in such a purely friendly way it made me wonder whether it was possible to dislike him right now.
"Energy...?" half-asked L. "I'm just not feeling it... Why even bother...?" A pause, then L continued: "Trying hard to go after him just puts us in danger.. don't آپ agree? I've thought I was going to die so many times already..."
"Ryuzaki..." کہا Light, getting up from the sofa, looking slightly annoyed.
He then did something for which I will hate him forever. He punched L straight in the face. His مککا, عجیب الخلقت was not like Misa's. He made L fly across the room, but pulling Light after him in the same time because of the handcuffs. L came to a halt after crashing in the opposite دیوار head-on. Misa stood dumbstruck, her mouth the size of a crater. I myself was taken aback, but I tried my best to let it surface. After all this, L managed to return into sitting position and say:
"Ouch."
"Don't be ridiculous!" shouted Light. "Just because I'm not the real Kira... Just because آپ were wrong, آپ want to give up?! آپ gonna sulk like a baby?!"
"I may have worded it poorly, but... I'm saying that continuing isn't going to get us anywhere good, so maybe we should stop..." replied L, wiping his face.
"What are آپ talking about?" asked Light, almost shouting again. "Unless we chase him, there's no way we'll catch Kira. Who's the one who swore to send Kira to his execution?!" Light grabbed L سے طرف کی his oversized white شرٹ, قمیض and continued his speech, this time shouting properly. "The police, the FBI agents, TV announcers, how many innocent lives do آپ think have been victimized?! You're the one who put Misa and me in confinement!!"
"I understand that..." کہا L, not struggling. "...But whatever the reason... Once is once!" He کہا that last part few times louder than the rest, but that's not what startled me. What startled me was that he کہا it while applying a painful-looking kick with his left leg on Light's chin. Once again, the two flew one after another through the room. Misa seemed to be ready to faint. "It's not just my reasoning that was wrong..." L continued.
"It's the fact that the case can't be solved as 'Light Yagami is Kira and Misa Amane is the سیکنڈ Kira." So I'm a little disappointed. I'm human - that's not allowed?"
"No it's not," کہا Light. I felt like kicking him myself right now. I myself was disappointed that the tables turned in Light's total favor. "The way آپ talk, it's like آپ won't be satisfied unless I'm Kira."
"Not satisfied unless you're Kira...?" muttered L.. "Yes, that may be true... I have just realized something... I wanted آپ to be Kira..."
Hearing this, Light punched L again head-on, straight in the middle of his face. At that moment, I myself stepped آگے to go and attempt to injure Light in any way I could, but I hear Misa squeak behind me.
"What's wrong, Amane?" I asked in an unwillingly aggressive tone.
"You're gonna get into the fight, too?" she asked, her mouth again looking like a crater.
"That's because your boyfriend can't stand the truth! Be happy that I didn't start kicking آپ in order to distract the others' attention!"
When hearing that Misa jumped off a building and commiting Suicide I could not believe she has done it . Well, many people have been asking about the proof so, if آپ look at Death Note chapter 110 it revealed that she died at 2011 during Valentines دن . After Rem killed L and Matsuda killed Light Misa couldn't take life anymore and fell of the edge of a building and commited suicide . I guess that was the finale of Death Note everyone dies . And everyone considered Light as a "God" and his thoughts and his efforts to make everyone think he is a god were all correct due to his right timing and his right words made everything he has worked on a successful .
