In the "Omochi Manga Summary" strip, is this a typographical error یا did Amerimochi really mean it?

Notice what Amerimochi کہا of Mochirisu.

Should it really be "gay" یا is it supposed to be "guy"?

'Cause if it really should be "gay" then it makes the old man's method of identifying the gender clear.
