I love Sebastian even though most of his fangirls are rabid.

I've actually hated a few characters because of the fans. I already hated Bloom but her fans are just so rude (most of them) like I can't even say "I don't like Bloom" without them screaming obscenities at me. Because of that I can't think of Bloom without thinking of their insults. They ruined her character for me.
Same goes for Graham fans, but not to a huge extreme. With him; I used to think he was pretty cool and then there were a handful of his fans that just annoyed me to death and now I think he's just okay.

There's a couple although all I can think of are characters that I went from like to neutral feelings right now. I can name a ton of ships and celebrities I hate because of fans though.

Anyway, annoying fans really make me want to hate some characters. I actually hated Regina from Once Upon A Time because of her annoying fans. They always tried to excuse her actions (even when some of them weren't that good), she was considered the most beautiful on the show (which I think there are PLENTY of women on the show that are prettier), and would hate on Snow just because of Regina and Cora. But I LOVE Regina now, she's one of my favorite characters on the show. But the fans from any franchise can really ruin anything.

@Katara 99% I was one of the people who had you hating Gina at first. :P Idk, the more Yavvone and her posse hated on Gina the more I felt like I had to defend her if that makes sense.

@zanhar1 On the contrary, you were actually a pretty mature Regina fan, though you did have your moments. But I have certainly had my moments where I was like that with certain characters and I would a lot of times go overboard with my hate with Regina, not as much as I did with my Captain Swan hate. Also, JamesM made me want to hate One Direction too. Thank goodness she's gone.

That's good to know. I think everyone has that one (or in my case like 20) character that they just defend to the death. Right I was glad to see her out, she was just so disrespectful.

It is okay if someone wants to hate a character because of their fans but to me it doesn't really effect my opinion.

Only once, and that's GIR from Invader Zim. I used to quite like him. A lot, actually. Though really, the fans were part of the reason I grew to dislike him. There were people saying that there should only be a show centered around GIR, and to basically get rid of the other characters. And people who never watched the show were constantly saying that they loved GIR. I started to notice more and more how unfunny GIR is, in my opinion. Characters like Zim, Dib, Gaz, The Almighty Tallest, Miss Bitters, Professor Membrane, Zim's Computer, Zim's Robot Parents, Lard Nar, etc. All funnier than GIR to me. I usually don't let the fans influence me that much, and I love a lot of popular characters. I guess you could say they helped me realize that I found him unfunny? If that makes any sense....

Not really. I just dislike the immaturity of that character's fans. I see no reason, personally, to hate the character because their fans are a bunch of morons that can't even string a coherent sentence together... besides, I generally have my reasons why I dislike (not hate) a particular character.

I agree with blackpanther on this. I am in alot of fandoms so logically I see alot of different fans from them. I just dislike those fans and not the character. For example. I love Sakura Haruno and Orihime Inoue but alot of their fans I really hate. Tbh I dislike some of the haters as well. Overly immature fans and immature haters are two groups I do not particularly wish to talk with at all.

^^^ Yeah I try to keep the two (fans and characters) separate but in some cases it just doesn't work.

84 years after this poll was posted, I'm starting to feel this way about Harley Quinn who I previously thought was an interesting character despite knowing next to nothing about batman.

I can see why that would get old. I'm somewhat the same with her.
