The Office The future جام drama

snoznoodle posted on Apr 19, 2008 at 06:45AM
So Jim is going to propose!! And I'm sure everyone is so excited! Chair Model has got to be one of the best JAM episodes of the entire series! If it's what we think it is.

I know a few people have a feeling Pam didn't think Jim was being serious when he said he'd propose and when you watch it a few times you do get the impression she thought it was one of their games.
Watch it again and see what you think:
link

And now I have a theory. A really horrible theory I hate but which seems possible all the same. What's the Office without Jim and Pam drama? I'm personally SO happy to see them together. I'd be happy if nothing bad ever happened again. But it isn't really the Office without their angst.

So my theory is:
Jim will propose.
Pam will be so shocked she'll say no.
They'll break up.
And we're back to square one.

I initially didn't think it could happen, but people have convinced me and now I'm just dreading seeing Jim get shut down even worse than before. I'm really worried!

What do you think?
Someone try defuse that theory!
PLEASE!

I, too, have a feeling that all will not be well in the JAM paradise - that would just be too easy. I feel that your theory is a little more dramatic than what might actually take place, but I don't really have a better one to discuss. I could see them 'taking a break' or something, but actually breaking up would be so sad! I hope that's not what happens!

breaking up might be a little extreme (I hope).

sorry but its just a joke, pam and jim joke about proposing throughout the episode.

Jim bends down and says "Pam.................................will you wait while I tie my shoe."

and they both laugh and keep going.

My theory: She says, "Yes," when he proposes, but secretly cries in a talking head saying that she would rather not.

ahhh I agree. at first I was really excited and did a happy dance and screamed and shrieked and all that other fangirl nonsense then my sister looked at me and said "He has a ring." and I'm still dancing. then she says "Something is going to go wrong." Then the entire series flashed before my eyes and I freeze, mid-dance. then slowly I slide down the couch and moan, "Oh, god dammit, you're right."

bad, baaad vibrations, the whole situation.

P.S. to zeejoop, didn't you see Jim's talking head where he presents the ring to the cameras? he's serious. he;s just going to keep her hanging.

SPOILERS

I thought they said that they weren't going to break up...? I read that in an article that Chel posted. That doesn't mean there won't be drama, but... I don't think there will be a break up.

I think that maybe Pam decided after she called off her wedding with Roy that she doesn't ever want to get married. Hence we "learn something new about Pam." The when Jim proposes, she will be honest and he will be so heart broken, he may not know what to do.

If I'm right, I'm probably going to like cry forever. This would be soooo sad.

But I also completely trust the writers and I am sure they haven't come up with anything lame or just plain bad. (One thing is for sure..she will probably say no, and they had better make it a really funny episode..like the funniest one yet.or else it will be lame)

I think she might say "no, but... I love you etc". The thing is Jim is so used to getting his heart broken he might overeact and think they have to break up. Or he might need to get away and leave her like he did before.

But that is way too sad! The writers are going to make thousands of people cry!!

I hope she says yes, if not, It will be a tippical tv show, and we know the office is not, like krazykray said it's not going to be lame or just plain bad...
I don't want to see them break up...I think it will be difficult for the characters to recovered from that, specially from Jim.

I don't think she'll say she never wants to get married. After all, she is the one who brought up getting engaged. I don't think she'd lead Jim on like that. I honestly think she'll say yes when Jim proposes. If you look on OfficeTally, there's pictures of Tanster with Jenna where Jenna is very carefully covering up her ring finger.
That's not saying that something major won't happen after they get engaged to postpone the wedding, like maybe Pam gets another offer for an internship in NY and Jim doesn't let her turn it down this time?

Jim is more serious about the wedding thing than Pam so my theory is that Jim proposes but then Pam sais that she isn't ready yet (the whole marry Roy thing) Jim will be mad at first, but they will make up and they postpone the wedding...or maybe something else, I'm just guessing here

Nononononononononononono!!! Don't let the bad thoughts get to you, snoznoodle!
Remember? Happy thoughts? HAPPY THOUGHTS!!!
*goes fetal and sucks thumb*

But on a more serious note, LET THE DEFUSING BEGIN!:
I honestly doubt the writers would break them up anytime soon and if there was any buzz about it, I'm sure we would have heard it from an interview with a cast member or OfficeTally. We waited three effing years for this to happen and I really doubt they're going to yank the rug out from under us like that. At the very worst, I think they will "take a break" and then Pam will realize how retarded she's being and what an amazing guy Jim is (I LOVE YOU, JKRAS!) and all will be right again.
Besides, Pam is going to say yes.
Just you wait. =]

Also, if you pause link at 1:52, then you can see Pam's reaction to the fake proposal.

Sure she looks thoughtful, but I think she looks like she's ready to say yes.

(And yes, I am a dork for actually researching this.)

okay--heres my theory.

i think tha either Pam will say no, shes not ready, but she still wants to stay together. i think that everything that happened wit Roy will definatley have changed her perstive of marriage.

my other theory is that she will say yes, get cold feet, but then either talk to jim, or her mom ( or maybe michael will say something stupid and funny to bring her to a realization ) and then she will decide 2 get married again, or something along those lines. i have faith that they will get married for 2 reasons

one- in the women in the workplace episode i believe that pam says she wants to get married to a man who loves her, or something along those lines.

two- i was watching some interview with the cast, and they were joking about a couple of crazy plotlines, and the writers kept responding that it wasnt a soap opera, so i think they will keep it very real and not to the constant break up, reunite thing, causing everyone to tear their hair out.

Yeah, Season 2 Boys and Girls:

And then she hesitates...
And then she's like,
"Roy."

But they borke up! :D

It would be nice if The Office stays away from the typical sitcom romance formula (break up, make up, break up, marry).

I would like to see Jim take rejection like a true man; he asks, she says she's not ready and he's a little taken aback, but is happy to let things grow at her pace. I mean how long did this guy patiently wait his turn? If Roy hadn't set a date on Casino night and Jan hadn't pressured him about the move, he would still be admiring her from afar, waiting for the PROPER moment to make his move.

He's got the emotional stamina to knock us off our feet when it comes to loving Pam. I hope the writers do something original with it.

I don't think this show will be like the dreaded off again on again of Friends and Dawson's creek. I swear the Office is doing something right. If you notice something. Thier moments in season 4 are slow and sweet. They are not touchy feely all day at the office and making out all the time. in fact when they are in the conference room they just sit next to each other. I sometimes wish they would be like more touchy feely but they were friends for so long.

I just don't think the writters will break Pam and Jim up. Slow and steady is good :)

After watching "Did I Stutter" I'm 99% sure that she'll say yes when Jim proposes. In the conference room scenes she says "If you propose to me during a Michael meeting I will say no." Is that to imply that she would say yes if given a proper situation?
I'm sticking by my theory that Jim and Pam get engaged and Pam reapplies for the graphic design internship and gets accepted, therefore causing the wedding that would have happened soon (potentially over the summer), to be postponed. Something keeps telling me that they're going to elope at some point though. Because:
a) Pam's already been through the whole planning a wedding thing with Roy and it obviously stressed her out quite a bit (not to mention Phyllis stole all of her ideas) and
b) Jim's been in love with this woman for years now. I doubt he'd have any problem taking off and getting married the day he proposes

I, on the other hand, want some drama. It's all too perfect. they need a fight or other guy or girl. I can't stand it when they are perfect. Regular couples are not perfect!
