RealBenTennyson Well I also find it quite annyoing. But you made a mistake there. Padma Patil was do sorted in Ravenclaw. Parvati was the Gryffindor. I hate some little things they've added. i) James being Seeker (SS/PS) ii) Hermione suggesting Ron to use Leviating Charm on trolls club (SS/PS) iii) Hermione standing in between Harry and Sirius instead of Ron (PoA) iv) I's most disappointed that when Ron got his prefect badge was not filmed. I really wnated it to be there. (OoTP)

Mia_Lewis17 yes.. i agree and a part in DH (part one) when Lupin visited them in a house... it's just wasn't there or I just didn't notice it. and if ever they will cut the Prince's Tale which will be at the second part I don't know what I will do to them...

Pensieve_Seeker Cedric's being struck by lightning and Harry falling off his broom did not happen simultaneously. Harry didn't fall off his broom until a minute or so later and by then Cedric could have caught the Snitch (although it wouldn't have been seen).

bri-marie I do agree with that stuff up are annoying, just not the ones you listed. Padma was a minor character. Is it really going to change the entire outcome of the story because they put her in Gryffindor instead of Ravenclaw? Does it confuse the people watching the movie? In the book Padma and her sister rarely talked, and they were only shown in the fourth movie. If it weren't for the Yule Ball, they wouldn't have even been in any of the movies. I don't consider Dan's eyes to be a stuff up, since that can't really be helped. He physically cannot wear them (and usually, you can't really tell unless you're [i]looking[/i] for his eyes to be blue in the movies). What were they supposed to do? Go back and edit every frame to make him have green eyes? Kind of a waste of man power. When was either of them struck by lightning? The major stuff-ups I have in with HPB and taking out the Lupin confrontation (and announcing that he was dating and marrying Tonks and that she was, ya know, pregnant). In HPB, they cut out a lot of those vital memories to find the horcruxes; Snape's "I'm the half-blood Prince" thing was butchered, and since that was the basis of the entire book...; Draco wearing a muggle suit; and burning down the Burrow - mostly because it was never brought up again and didn't make any sense to begin with.

LadyNottingham We have to make a difference between minor details and major stuff-ups - some of them having become major screw-ups. A book can contain many details, as many as the author's imagination can contain. While a movie is to be set in a particular frame of time (in general no longer than 2 hours). That means that a novel as dense as the content of the HP books is to be inevitably reduced, squeezed, omitted, etc. I don't care about Dan's eyes being blue or green, as long as it makes sense with his mother's eyes (suppose the actress playing Lily has the same eye color as Dan : no issue). If one student had been sent to this House and not the one in the book, who cares, as long as it keeps the movie coherent. The Patil twins is a good example of this. We have to keep in mind that the movies are made to be seen by as many people as possible - and they are not all HP fans that had read the books prior to going to the theaters. But as Bri-marie said, there are major stuff-ups that make the movies less understandable, less coherent. That's not an easy task but a good example is the final scene with Severus in the HBP movie. They could have also added a scene with Harry and Hermione where she explained to him about the Half-Blood Prince story. That would have made the movie coherent especially for non HP-readers. They could have done that during the final scene at the Astronomy Tower when the Trio makes some kind of a pact together not to come back to Hogwarts on the following year. On the contrary, an intelligently made stuff-up was the mixing of the pensieve scene and the Occlumency lesson, when Harry got a glimpse of Severus' memories, in the OotP movie. In the book, there's the pensieve scene where he got the memory and when he defended himself using 'Protego' - each action eliciting a very different reaction from Severus. In the movie, both are wisely mixed and the result is as efficient : Harry learned that his father was a bully, Severus kicked him out of his Occlumency lesson, that the "good" and the "bad" characters are not always whom we may think they are, the antagonism between Harry and Severus is even more emphasized, giving the audience a very powerful and meaningful scene. Some stuff-ups are a success, some others are just that : botch-ups. Hope they'll be careful in DH-2. Otherwise, the only movie format that could accommodate all the details and actions of the HP saga would be a mini-series (like they did for the novel "Dune"). Sorry for my long post but your question was interesting to answer.

hiba91 there is a difference between books and movies,cause in movies your limited with certain amount of time while a book,,, well it's a book lol!!.. actually what you have listed from changes didn't bother me at all! the movies are still great.
